"We don't need their oil and gas, we have more than anybody." Incorrect. The United States is completely energy dependent on Canada. We supply 60% of the US oil imports at a significant discount. That discount allows US products to be more competitive on the world market.

Europe woke up one day in 1969 and decided to end America's airplane dominance. Why not do that again, but for chips, smartphones, space, AI, you name it. Europe doesn't have to be dependent on China or the US when we build together!

I had a substantive discussion with the Prime Minister of Slovakia Robert Fico 🇸🇰. We covered key topics — matters of principle for Ukraine and matters of principle for Slovakia. I informed about our conversation yesterday with President Trump, our work with leaders of the Coalition of the Willing to advance peace and ensure Ukraine’s security, and the security architecture for Europe. And Slovakia will not stand aside. The Prime Minister told me about his contacts in China. A separate and important topic was Europe’s energy independence — Russian oil, just as Russian gas, has no future. Slovakia supports Ukraine on its path toward the European Union. This is highly significant. We also share the view that Ukraine and Moldova must continue moving together toward EU membership. Equally important is that bilateral cooperation on economic, energy, and infrastructure matters here, in our region, strengthens our peoples and our countries. Thank you for the meeting. It is important that we have this dialogue, and we will continue it.

British Prime Minister on Iran: If we had listened to the advice of some other parties, we would have been involved in a confrontation with Iran and we would have been dragged into a war that is not in line with our interests. I will never allow such a thing.

An important meeting for our bilateral cooperation with Prime Minister of Bulgaria Rumen Radev. Our countries need strong relations, and today we discussed this. In particular, energy issues – we can implement a lot together, especially on LNG. Europe’s dependence on Russian energy resources is decreasing, and it is important that partners have alternatives. Rumen spoke about his diplomatic contacts and what Bulgaria is doing for security in the Black Sea. We agreed that our teams will stay in touch. I invited Mr. Prime Minister to Ukraine. Thank you.

Touched base on sanctions-related work within the European Union with Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen Statsministeriet. When Russia constantly demonstrates its desire to escalate the war, the response should be stronger sanctions, not the other way around. No name on the sanctions list is there by accident: each one represents a reason why this war started and continues to this day, and why our people are being killed every day. I thank Denmark for supporting this position, and I count on all our partners in Europe to remain united and work to achieve peace. Of course, we also discussed Ukraine’s financial resilience and decisions that could help cover the gap in our budget. I briefed the Prime Minister on the situation with Russian attacks and our solutions for countering jet-powered “shaheds.” We also discussed our joint defense production, including the construction of new facilities. There is potential to expand our cooperation, and we agreed to act on it. Thank you!

Trump made a series of statements about different countries at the NATO summit On Spain: “We no longer want to do any trade with Spain. Spain is a terrible NATO partner.” On Greenland: “Greenland is very important to the United States, but it is not important to Denmark. Basically, we took Greenland and then foolishly gave it back. We should never have given it back.” On Iran: “The Iranians are incompetent. They are liars. If they were competent, they would have made a deal 47 years ago. We agreed: no nuclear weapons. Then they go out and tell the press, ‘We never even talked about that.’ There’s something wrong with them. They’re cuckoo.” On Chinese President Xi Jinping: “I think China has treated us fairly. Xi has been magnificent. I’m a big fan of President Xi.”

🗓️ The Portals State of the Union is happening on Sunday, January 28, where we begin to take the wraps off what we’ve been cooking over the last half of 2023. We have been strategically quieter on the timeline, while relentlessly focused on building a self-sustaining, successful platform that thrives with both web2 and web3 audiences. We have been validating secret projects, while competitors seem to be continuing in the wrong direction. The team has been working on the most valuable experiences and products possible now that we have the fastest/best-in-class 3D experience creator out there. Portals has always been a labor of love. It’s our life’s work, and we are not going anywhere. Solana is also here to stay, further establishing itself as a force to be reckoned with and gaining more of the recognition it deserves. It's time for us to put forward more of the on-chain ecosystem projects we have always wanted to do. Rolling out new systems, incentives, and experiences to fortify Portals as one web3's killer apps and top destinations. We have a lot to share, and we can't wait to show you. This year's State of the Union will be delivered in video format, across X, Discord, and in Portals. We'll be dropping more teasers while looking forward to seeing you on January 28!
