Probably time for Tesla to implement a feature that prevents drivers from overriding FSD with the accelerator when the path isn’t clear. Not the first time I see people hit the accelerator and cause a collision.

@Tesla No. There may be a reason for it, and human control should never be stopped.

@Tesla Human control should be stopped if you are without a doubt about to cause an accident.

This is an impossible catch-22. Will you also allow the human to override the FSD if it's about to cause an accident? Which protocol wins in a disagreement? Either the human is responsible, or the car is. There cannot be a solution where both have the ability to cancel out or override the other.

@joshfontanilla @Tesla I'm specifically talking about the accelerator, you can override FSD also with steering or braking input.

Result below. Weird reason to total the car. All the damage was to the fender, suspension and a few airbags. Door and bumper are clean(although scratched from handling).

@Tesla The feature is not hitting the accelerator lol. The solution is cybercab, no pedals.

@Tesla Yeah that's the issue with the average person.

@Tesla Agreed. Letting go of control while still having the steering wheel and pedals is an above-average ask and certainly takes some getting used to. Perhaps the next generations will take to it more natively.

@Tesla Now we know why FSD sometimes cuts people off in right turns. Cause of bad drivers like this training it 🥴

@Tesla Calling hitting the accelerator a disengagement also seems sus it’s more of a middle ground

Фото профиля Yaro

@Tesla They disengaged by hitting the brakes after.

@Tesla If I recall, the guy who floored it into a house was labeled as a disengagement (pushing the accelerator)

@Tesla The annoying NHTSA stop is the reason behind this. While the driver is ultimately responsible, they’re pressing the accelerator because the NHTSA stop feels unnatural and takes too long.

@Tesla They both share fault. The person who pulled out more, however the other driver has their turn signal on. Even if turning right. At least in some states turning your signal on AFTER a turn out is required.

@Tesla Sad thing is the govt will count this as a self driving accident.

@Tesla that's a nasty edge case. i'd rather see a hard brake plus takeover alert than let a tap on the pedal turn into a collision. override delay or just a warning?

@Tesla I’ve had a few close calls myself. That feeling of “why isn’t it going” quickly turning in “oh shit that’s why” when I was about to press the accelerator…. I agree, they should make you double press or something if the car is confident it’s a bad idea.

@Tesla dude would probably blame it on FSD too 😔

@Tesla I have to nudge mine constantly, and also need to cover the accelerator because of insanely bad phantom braking. They’ve built this habit in me

@Tesla If the Toyota had FSD it would have avoided this idiot. Also if that driver had a half a brain they would have just gone back over slightly into the inner lane they just came from.

@Tesla It's the Tesla's drivers fault 100% but these accidents are easily avoidable by simply moving over into the clear left lane. Defensive driving has certainly saved me from well over 100 accidents.

@Tesla If the driver is going to over ride FSD by pushing the accelerator, the least they can do is look for oncoming traffic. Driver needs to take responsibility for their actions.

@Tesla FSD needs human input to be correctly functional. I probably wouldn’t use fsd if I couldn’t get it to move its ass when it’s waiting for nothing.

@Tesla Tesla FSD would have crashed anyway ! in the middle of the road when there's a car coming in that lane.

@Tesla The problem is they tell us we may have to take over, but when we do, it's usually because the car knows something we don't.

@Tesla I say human should have the ultimate control of the vehicle even the outcome can cause the accident . What if you hit the accelerator to escape a shooter standing in front of the car? You wouldn’t want the car to brake before hitting the shooter so he got the chance to react.

@Tesla There should be aggressive-override modes for new drivers, elderly, etc. I want a "no crash" setting for my bad driver teens and elderly parents.

@Tesla It needs to be another ABS like feature warning why the cars not moving yet.
