"One of the challenging things about the really important stuff in life is that they’re endless battles. If you do a good job focusing today and prioritizing today, if you pick the right thing to focus on, it earns you no bonus points for tomorrow. Tomorrow you show up, and if you spend all that time on YouTube or getting distracted or whatever, that day is gone. Other things are like that, too. Just because you worked out two weeks ago doesn’t mean you don’t need to do it today. Or just because you were a good spouse yesterday, that earns you no bonus points for today. You still need to show up for them. And so I’m trying to get comfortable with the endless nature of those things. A lot of the time we try to resist the endless nature of that stuff. “Oh, I wish it wasn’t that way.” We try to convince ourselves that it’s like a finish line. “If I just do this 21-day cleanse, then I’ll be a healthy person and I won’t have to think about it anymore. If I just buy her something nice for her anniversary, then I can stop worrying about it and I don’t have to [do other things].” No, it’s not like that. It’s endless. As soon as you accept the endless nature, you start looking at it differently. You say, “Okay, it’s not about getting to a particular finish line; it’s about living a daily life that feels sustainable and that I like and that I’m fully engaged in. So it’s about liking my days." 🐨 So sometimes when I can’t sleep, or work, or just life itself feels terrifying. It’s scary—just the act of living. There are times when the fact that this life goes on day after day feels really frightening. Because every day you have to feed yourself, you have to do things, and so life and death, the fact that morning comes and another day starts, it can feel wonderful at times, but there are also parts of life where it presses down on you, like a kind of light depression. This feeling that you have to keep doing something every single day In the end, that’s why it’s important to have your own sphere, your own beliefs, hopes, and goals. That’s why even though nights are really hard for me right now, even though I feel anxious, when I think about releasing an album next year and being with you all again, jumping around and having fun together, my mood already lifts So I say to myself, Next year I have to at least see this before I die, not to speak lightly about death but as a kind of joke. I think, Even if I’m sick, I have to see your faces before I’m sick. I live day by day with that feeling. That’s why I want to work better too, and I believe everything I see, hear, and feel now will help with our next album and whatever I do in the future. Being able to eat breakfast, lunch, and dinner every day might seem normal to us, but I don’t think it should be taken for granted. Whether I’m practicing, playing baseball, or just doing anything physical, I need energy. There are places where that basic necessity still isn’t reaching the people who need it. There are all kinds of ways you can take part. You can buy one of these T-shirts, or if you see someone wearing one around town, you can scan the QR code. If this spreads among friends and more and more people get involved, I think that’s a meaningful way of participating too. I think that’s a perfectly valid form of donating. Where do you get your dopamine? From the game itself? Or from stacking party tricks in the gym and posting about it? Too many guys fall in love with training. With being the hardest worker in the room. With the process itself. But that’s not the point. Training exists for one reason: to create an adaptation that helps you be better on the field. To bring up what’s limiting your performance so you can actually reach your goals. But a lot of guys now use training as a comfort blanket. They hide from failure behind hard lifts, weighted balls, or perfect mechanics. It feels good. It’s controllable. It gives you dopamine hits without the risk of real exposure. Because failure is real—and unavoidable. That’s what makes sports matter. Keep the main thing the main thing. Train to get better where it counts, not just to feel better about working hard. Hate me or love me, but your office and my office are different. This is just the truth so I’m going to say it. You work from a cubicle. I’m working from a boat, sitting in a hot tub, watching a seaplane fly over me. You’re working to build someone else’s dream. I’m working to build my own. I spent years building my own brand, my own audience, and my own businesses. But that’s the difference between spending your life building someone else’s dream and spending it building your own. You have to wait for your shift to end to go home and spend time with your kids. My kids are right next to me. We’re working together, learning together, using Grok, asking questions, and experiencing life together. You count down the hours until you can leave work. You count down the days until the weekend. You count down the years until retirement. I don’t want to spend the best years of my life waiting until 65 to finally start living. I’d rather be dead, for real. I’m living right now. And that’s what people don’t understand about freedom. It’s not about owning the biggest house, the nicest watch, or the most expensive car. None of that shit really matters when you actually get it. It’s about owning your time. It’s about being able to work from anywhere. It’s about being present with your kids while they’re still kids.
