“Propaganda is like borscht” Russian writer Dmitry Glukhovsky explains why Russian society is so susceptible to propaganda. According to him, it works like beetroot soup: even if you’re not the beetroot, you still turn red just by being in the same environment. The Kremlin’s system doesn’t always rely on...

Lately, Russian propagandists started openly mocking President Trump. The shift has been rather abrupt, as Russian television had not allowed itself such rhetoric before. Clearly, the Kremlin gave the order to start criticizing Trump. At first, Russian propagandists referred to him as "our guy." Now they describe him as a "Bidenized loser," a destroyer of the American empire, and a helpless manager. It is not Trump who has changed, but the tasks of the Russian propaganda machine. So, by taking his figure as a case study, we can see how propaganda works. ▪️ The first law: the object is not evaluated - it is used. On Russian television, Trump can be both a hero and a fool, a genius and a weakling on the very same day. One day, Solovyev praises the man who "destroyed the world order," and the next day he mocks his inability to reach a deal on Iran. Not because propagandists are confused, but because propaganda and lies do not require consistency. The more confusing and absurd, the better. ▪️ The second law: Russian television says only what the Kremlin allows it to say, and only when it allows it. Once the command was given, the hosts immediately began tearing Trump apart. ▪️ The third law: every audience gets its own dish. The domestic audience hears contempt. Foreign audiences hear doubt. Russian-language broadcasts feed viewers mockery, while RT in English carefully cultivates skepticism and asks questions. ▪️ The fourth law: ridicule is a political weapon. In reality, propaganda attacks not the individual but the institution through the individual. Trump is merely a convenient conduit. If he appears weak, manipulable, or incompetent, then American leadership itself begins to look the same. ▪️ The fifth law: propaganda hates inventing anything new. It prefers clichés. Need to explain Trump? Bring out "Biden." Need to explain Ukraine? Bring out "Afghanistan." Need to discredit future evidence? Bring out "Powell's vial." New events are simply stretched over old templates. ▪️ The sixth law is one of the most sophisticated. The most effective Russian propaganda does not sound Russian. It speaks with an American voice. If the desired message can be put into the mouth of an American journalist, blogger, or politician, its impact multiplies. People are more willing to trust their own. And finally, the most important thing. The ultimate goal of the machine is not to convince you that it is right. That is too difficult. It is much easier to convince you that truth itself does not exist. That everyone lies. That everyone manipulates. That everyone is equally ridiculous and equally absurd. Once people stop searching for the truth, they become much easier to control. The key question is why Russian propaganda has changed its rhetoric toward Trump precisely now.

Stephen Miller, you keep saying “the violent left.” You repeat it like a malfunctioning record — the violent left this, the violent left that — which only proves one thing: you’ve never actually experienced real violence. Not the kind that makes you taste blood and adrenaline in the same breath. And I don’t wish that on you, honestly. But those of us who’ve seen it — who’ve lived through it, who’ve survived it — can’t help but laugh when you posture like you understand it. See, people who’ve known real danger don’t talk about it like it’s a campaign slogan. They don’t toss it around on Fox panels between makeup touch-ups. You do. Because for you, “violence” is a word on a teleprompter. It’s not a scar, not a trauma, not a memory you can’t shake. It’s a talking point handed to you by the same think tank that installed you like a firmware update — a puppet script designed to push this country into chaos so they can justify their next move. You were given a playbook. We all see it. You repeat the same lines, hoping to hypnotize the public into becoming violent so your bosses can check off “Phase 2.” But what you forget, Stephen, is that the people you’re talking about — the veterans, the cops, the firefighters, the survivors — they actually know violence. They’ve faced it, fought it, buried friends because of it. They don’t need you to define it. And they know this isn’t that. This moment isn’t a battlefield. It’s a psychological operation. And you, Stephen, are the operator. But a bad one. Because the nation’s catching on. We can all see that the only person terrified of “the violent left” is you. Not because of us, but because of the people who put you there — the same ones who’ll throw you under the bus the moment you stop being useful. You’ve overplayed your role, and now you’re just… embarrassing. Every time you step in front of a camera, you remind everyone that you’ve never stood next to tough people in tough moments. You’ve only ever stood behind a podium, trembling in the glow of studio lights, pretending to be one. The irony? The people you call “violent” have more self-control, discipline, and restraint than you will ever understand. No one’s threatening you, Stephen. Nobody needs to. You’re not that important. You’re a deputy — a disposable line in a failed script. But understand this: your name has become shorthand for cowardice disguised as intellect. You are an international joke — and the only thing violent about you is the way you’ve butchered truth on live television.

I think that many people are now increasingly aware of the scale of russian propaganda in the world. And many are increasingly seeing evidence that the russians are investing billions in sponsoring their propaganda and narratives around the world. And the West and the free world, unfortunately, are increasingly losing this information war. The voice of truth is becoming quieter, and the voice of propaganda and lies is screaming louder. - russia is buying corrupt bloggers, media, journalists and other people all over the world. They pay these corrupt individuals without honor and dignity, tens and hundreds of thousands of dollars a week to create propagandist videos, as well as videos that slander and lie about Ukraine. These are not isolated cases, this is a whole network of agents of propagandists working for russia. With the main and only goal: Disinformation, propaganda, division of society, manipulation. - They sponsor, through their oligarchs, the purchase of social networks and other media resources by right-wing and pro-russian puppets in different parts of the world. And through these resources they continue to spread lies and hatred. At the same time, they muffle the voice of truth and dissent (on X this is now more visible than ever, when the feed is filled with tweets from the far-right, propagandists, pro-russian tweets and other ... and the voices and tweets of Ukrainians and people who support them are deliberately suppressed) - Pro-russian propagandists are making "documentaries" about Russian soldiers, trying to whitewash war criminals-terrorists who have committed thousands of war crimes, for which there is irrefutable evidence. They come in Ukraine to make these films (on its occupied territory), without coordinating this with Ukraine, but using only the permission of the russian occupiers to do this. And after that, these russian propaganda films are allowed to be shown at international film festivals, as if nothing had happened. Giving them the opportunity to spread Russian lies. It is the same as if the Allies during World War II started showing Goebbels' films in cinemas. - They create thousands of bot farms. Creating the appearance of their support and activity around the world. -And of course, the thousands of corrupt politicians around the world who have sold out to russia. Who promote pro-Russian voices in their governments and among their voters. People without honor who would even sell out their own country if they were paid for it on favorable terms. They accuse Ukraine of propaganda. And these accusers themselves allow this propaganda to grow exponentially. Allowing the spread of russian and right-wing hatred. Allowing billionaires to buy social networks, buying a "monopoly" on freedom of speech, and then using this platform for their ambitions, selfish goals and propaganda, manipulating millions of people. Or, even worse, to be a lever in the hands of the same russian propaganda. Drowning out the voices of dissenters and those who write the truth. You may have a lot of money, you may have political and social influence. You can promote your propaganda and buy anything and everything. But you can never buy truth, honor and dignity with money if you don't have it. And history will forever remember those who supported terror, occupiers and murderers.
