Never used it like this but it is probably the best way to play Goldeneye without auto-aim.

I was going nuts playing Quake 2 on my Analogue 3D the other day.

Q3 with an N64 controller is crazy work. Can you even strafe jump with that setup?

Robert Dale Smith's profile picture
Robert Dale Smith9 months ago

Sure. I have jump mapped to L and fire mapped to Z. Strafe movement on dpad

It depends on the game so this statement is wrong

I play all games like this

I mean the first game that comes to mind is Kirby

This is actually the proper way to use N64 controller. Few humans are equipped.

Where is the third hand?

Actually there's a lot of different ways to use the n64 controller, which is one of the reasons why it's so interesting. The WWE/WWF games use the D-pad and buttons for movement, with taunts on the stick, requiring you to sacrifice attacks or movement if you want to taunt.

No the proper way is to throw it out and just play on the switch with a real controller, cause im sorry but even as a Nintendo fan nothing will ever convince me that controller isn't terrible.

I have a friend that blames it for breaking his thumb as a kid.🤣

In some games yes, the point of the three prongs was you can hold it multiple ways. My friend who has huge hands holds it from the left prong and his thumb can reach the analog stick from there.

Só serve pra Quake, né? Não teria como jogar GoldenEye assim, só tendo acesso a 2 botões.

Quake III on Dreamcast

@Nintendude_ If you’re on Dreamcast why not just use the keyboard and mouse lol

Robert Dale Smith's profile picture
Robert Dale Smith9 months ago

@Nintendude_ Been there done that. Real N64 controller on Dreamcast was the goal. 😀

@Nintendude_ Honestly this just popped up on my feed so I had no idea how much work went into making the controller work on Dreamcast lol, actually pretty cool now that I’ve looked into it

@Nintendude_ All good. The mouse keyboard questions is a good one. Back in the day, I did rock the Dreamcast mouse and keyboard and played a lot of this game over a dial up connection. Mouse and keyboard for sure the way to go for serious play.

@Nintendude_ I have mine hooked up to fake dial up with DreamPi but I’ve not gotten round to trying actual online multiplayer yet

@Nintendude_ DreamPi is pretty freaking awesome. Blown away that I can still play PSO.

You better be using that N64 controller with some sort of contraption that allows you to run it on a Sega Dreamcast sir.

The proper way is emulate the games and use an xbox gamepad.
