In the late '90s, one budget PC brand looked at Apple's sleek, curvy iMac G3 and thought, 'Damn, I want a piece of that! So they made their own... a shameless, translucent, all-in-one knockoff. It was bold. It was scandalous. And oh, it was so illegal 🚫 Apple sued them into oblivion! In all honesty though, I kinda respect the hustle 😅 Get ready for the wild story of the eMachines One: the bad boy of budget PCs that tried to seduce the world... and got absolutely wrecked. people really make me ask my girl to borrow her apple silicon macbook to prove it's not 5 fps here is 2 minutes of playtime, no edits, including the initial streamed world rendering, the whole map has about 283kb of map metadata, about 2MB of js and ~6MB of textures atm. deal with it, i'm developing on an imac 2017 as that's what i got and if i can make it run on ~10FPS on that machine with highest settings, it runs perfectly smooth on most of what everyone else got threejs is not the problem here, never was, stop making shit up

A former Apple employee recently dug up this clip of Steve Jobs addressing Apple HQ in July 1999. 2 years after return and Apple near bankruptcy. He talks about iBook success and re-iterates everything Cook said was in their recruiting meeting, including “consumer market back with a vengeance” and he sees “explosive growth” in the category (including iMac). More focused on creatives than enterprise. “The strategic reason that we have this shot is because we're the last company in this business to make the whole widget...the PC industry can't get their act together on this. Hardware. Software. Evangelism. All working together to bring innovation to the marketplace. We can break through those things [together…unlike Dell, Compaq, Microsoft] and bring innovation to customers because we're the last people in this business who give a sh*t about making great computers.” Says their ops is better than Dell (h/t Cook). genki sent me an early access key months ago but like an idiot i still haven't made a proper post about this game despite playing it for hours and recommending it to most of my irls (and also having it appear in the imac g5 display vid simply because i was playing it a lot back then, they didn't pay me for that or anything lol) so let me be clear: this is the only modern game where you can challenge a delivery truck on a japanese highway using a sprinter trueno and have it played as straight as possible, while at the same time having everything displayed with a level of graphical fidelity that has no business being this good for such a small studio that enough is worth my purchase recommendation, this game has soul

Ripple just dropped a comment letter to the Federal Reserve (Docket OP-1877) proposing a “Reserve Bank Payment Account” prototype. This is ONLY a proposal/prototype concept that would let qualified non-banks (like Ripple) hold stablecoin reserves directly at the Fed potentially reducing counterparty risk for RLUSD. It’s a submission in response to the Fed’s call for ideas on payment system innovation. No approval yet, just Ripple putting forward a thoughtful prototype. It had swept wings and an unusual adjustable vertical stabilizer that slid fore/aft . The first prototype lacked afterburners and was so underpowered it needed RATO rockets to takeoff. Influenced the F-104, but placed 2nd to the XF-88 Voodoo, partly because the design proved to be underpowered. The 2nd prototype survived 3 atomic blasts and is on display at the NMUSAF in Dayton, Ohio or what is left of it.👀 Bonus Fact (for sticking around): Starred in Blackhawk DC comics (50's-64).
