WR Posture Drill - The primary objective of the posture drill is to train players on every type of break by focusing on violent hip movement and gaining total control - Coaches should prioritize technique and control over having players stop exactly on a yard line - Executing a violent first step into the ground is critical for maintaining posture and effectively initiating the break - The drill progresses from a stationary start to moving between lines, allowing coaches to regulate speed and emphasize proper mechanics - To save the players' legs while focusing on technique, keep the drill distance to approximately five or six yards - Players must continue coming back toward the ball until it is in their hands to ensure they beat defenders to the reception point Jelani Berassa, WR Coach, Florida International Joshua Benjamin #GlazierClinics

LB Long Stride-Short Side Drill - The drill builds upon a box angle tackle progression but incorporates a long stride and short stride aspect to it. - Coaches should deepen the depth between the linebacker and the ball carrier for this specific drill. - Players usually utilize crossover footwork to run and close the distance to the ball carrier. - Players must use a long stride to close space, and then transition to a short stride to throttle their feet, widen their base, and get under control. - A critical coaching point is to keep the inside foot up rather than back, which prevents the ball carrier from cutting back and breaking the cup. - Coaches can incorporate a drop progression element into the drill, acting as the quarterback to get the linebacker set up before they come out of their break. O-Line Covered Step Drill - This offensive line drill utilizes the lines on a turf field or painted boxes to simulate old-school board drills. - To maximize individual time, coaches can line up multiple players along every five-yard line to get a high volume of repetitions in a short period. - The first movement, or the power step, is a short step used to transfer weight from the backside big toe to the lead leg to create power. - On the coach's second command, players execute the drive step, which provides the actual movement and force of the block. - Players must ensure their second step lands in front of their first step, driving that foot up the crotch of the defender and upfield. - While players in the drill may fall forward without resistance, in a game scenario, this momentum is used to strike the defender in a proper fit. LB 7 Cone Tackling Drill - The seven cone drill is specifically designed to prepare linebackers for open field tackling situations where they must effectively manage space. - A fundamental goal of the drill is for the defender to close the distance to the ball carrier, thereby taking away space and reducing the room available for maneuvers. - Coaches should emphasize maintaining leverage by staying inside out on the ball carrier, which forces the runner in a specific direction. - When approaching the ball carrier for a tackle, the linebacker should track the near hip and near number to ensure proper positioning. - The drill highlights the importance of the collision point, specifically teaching players to use the same foot and same shoulder to maximize power and safety. - As players progress to using pads, the drill can incorporate agility bags or crash mats to simulate speed tackles encountered on plays like screens, bubbles, and stretches. DB Tennis Ball Release Drill - This drill is suitable as a first activity of the day or can be utilized as a filler drill. - Defensive backs must maintain a natural arms-length distance from the receiver to protect their space. - Proper spacing is critical because allowing a receiver to get too close provides them the opportunity to push or use a flipper move. - The drill requires a combination of great footwork and precise eye placement. - Players should focus on a quick and violent punch of the tennis ball rather than trying to catch it. - The punch should be shot from the shoulders to simulate the correct contact point on a receiver. LB Track the Hip Drill - The "track the hip" drill is designed to create a sense of urgency for linebackers to reach the ball carrier. - Coaches should emphasize closing ground quickly to minimize the ball carrier's gain. - Players must maintain a downhill angle rather than a flat angle to ensure they meet the runner as soon as possible. - The goal is for the defender to make the tackle before the ball carrier reaches a specific designated line, such as the midsection of the drill area. - Linebackers need to remain aggressive and attack the ball carrier while maintaining proper leverage. - Using a "near foot, near foot" technique is essential for the tackler to successfully maintain leverage during the play. Arizona Wildcats | Through Empty — Screen on Catch A ball screen set Arizona has run for a long time under Tommy Lloyd. Love the concept of screening for the ball handler immediately on the catch. It forces the defense to react quicker than they’re often prepared for and can create an advantage before the defense is fully set.

LB Box Tackle Drill - This drill is designed to practice attacking a ball carrier from an angle rather than focusing on a heavy Oklahoma-style collision. - Coaches should emphasize "taking the air away" by closing the space between the defender and the ball carrier. - During the tackle, the defender should aim to take a leg from the ball carrier to bring them down. - Footwork variety is important, and coaches can have players start the drill by either shuffling or using a crossover run. - At the point of contact, defenders must maintain "same foot, same shoulder" positioning to ensure a solid tackle. - For high-quality contact, the defender should be close enough to literally step on the ball carrier's toe. SLOW DOWN IN BALL SCREEN Adding in a hesitation dribble in to your ball screen attack or setup allows the BallHandler to slow down, scan the floor, and attack their decision with aggressiveness and pace. The quality and quickness of the read and execution will determine if the ball screen advantage is created and kept!!

Perfect 1v1 Drill For Finding Your LOCKDOWN Defenders! Coach LoGalbo takes you through a drill that is perfect for finding your lockdown defenders that you can rely on when the lights turn on. As Nick LoGalbo says, it's a great way to find your "Rambo" which is a defender that you can rely on to defend your opponent’s best ball handler in the full court. And, an added offensive benefit to this drill, is that it allows for offensive players to work on their ball handling in the face of defensive pressure! This 1 on 1 Contain Drill is from Nick LoGalbo's Outer Third Defense (No Middle Defense). That's why the goal of this basketball drill is to force the opponent's primary ball handlers to the outer thirds of the basketball court (and out of the middle!) as soon as they catch the ball. By doing this, it allows the defense to dictate the entry pass to one side of the floor. By keeping the ball on the outer third of the basketball court, you can overload the backside of the defense which helps control the opponents passing lanes, deters easy passes and helps eliminate the dribble drive. You can incorporate this drill every other day in practice to re-emphasize to your defenders the importance of keeping the ball handlers out of the middle of the basketball court. Instructions and Keys to the 1 on 1 Contain Drill: - Give the ball handler a cushion. This makes it easier to contain them in the outer thirds. - Chest and contest a crossover to the middle. You do not turn your body. You must beat the offensive player to the spot and turn them back to the outer thirds. - If you get beat, you sprint ahead of the ball. You do not continue shuffling. - Keep the ball in the outer thirds the entire length of the court. It does not stop after the offensive player gets past half court. - The goal of the drill is to simply keep the ball handler in the outer thirds. - The defense should focus on beating the ball to the spot and chest to contest defense. - As soon as the first group gets to halfcourt, the second group begins. - After a group makes it all the way to the opposite baseline, they switch positions and get in line to repeat the drill going the opposite direction. Coaching Tips - Once a player gets chest to contest, they must spring back to get in front of the ball. Your goal is not to be running side by side. You must get in front of the offensive player. This prevents the offensive player from getting an angle to the basket. - After running through the drill for a specified amount of time, switch directions so the offensive players must focus on using both hands as their primary dribbling hand. - It is important to mix up players rather than like positions always competing against each other, so that players get used to guarding a wide variety of positions. It forces the players to adjust defensively regarding speed and skill. - Another positive of this drill is it gives you the ability to assess who your Rambo is: players who can work the point guard up the floor.

All of Paige Bueckers' points as a pick-and-roll ball handler against the Los Angeles Sparks came in the fourth quarter with Li Yueru as a screener. Their chemistry has shown in recent games. 1. Li's extra-high screen against deep drop while the defender fights over gives Bueckers space to have rhythm on a pull-up 3 uncontested. 2. Li sets another extra-high screen, this time against the Sparks, trying to ICE. This time, the big defender is playing up above the 3-point line to respect the pull-up 3. Bueckers uses this to attack the paint for a short-range pull-up jumper using the glass, avoiding the shot-blocker. 3. Another extra-high screen to begin the sequence, but this time, the big defender backpedals earlier to prevent the drive in ICE. With both defenders focused on Bueckers after the initial screen, Li comes back up to re-screen and makes effective contact, clearing Bueckers to drive middle for a rhythm pull-up in mid-range.

D-Line Press to Scoop Drill - The press to scoop drill is designed for defensive linemen to handle situations where they encounter a double team combo or a zone block. - When positioned on the backside of a play, the player must work to press the scoop as flat as possible against the line of scrimmage. - It is critical to get hands on the offensive player to prevent them from getting a free release to the second level of the defense. - Players are coached to keep their inside arm long, strong, and fully locked out while adjusting their position during the play. - To maintain power and leverage, the defensive lineman should work to get their inside leg up, utilizing a same hand and same foot technique. - If two blockers remain on the defensive lineman, another defender is free; once one blocker leaves, the lineman must be prepared to come off the block and make the play. Morocco 5v5 + 3 Possession & Counter Pressing Game 🇲🇦 Dimensions: 18(W) x 28(L) Yards In possession, the team must build into a clear shape: 3 central players 2 wide players on the flanks The aim is to keep the ball and complete a set number of passes while maintaining that structure to score points. There are also neutral goalkeepers on each end line and one neutral player inside the pitch to support the team in possession. When the ball is lost, the defending team can press anywhere. This encourages players to react immediately, win the ball back quickly, and counter press with intensity. Coaching focus: Structure in possession. Quick reaction after losing the ball. LB Scrape Spill Tackle Drill - The scrape spill drill integrates movement skills, block destruction, and tackling into a single exercise. - Linebackers should maintain a downhill path with square shoulders while staying tight to the double team pole. - Proper hand placement for the spill technique requires one hand on the blocker's sternum and the other on the outside of the shoulder pad. - Players must plant their outside foot in the ground to quickly redirect and get back vertical toward the ball carrier. - Coaches should emphasize keeping the eyes up during contact to ensure players see what they are hitting rather than ducking their heads. - The ultimate goal of the drill is to avoid going one-for-one by being violent enough to shed the pulling blocker and make the tackle. LB Tackle In Space Drill - The drill utilizes a reverse L-shaped setup with cones to force linebackers to work around obstacles while approaching a ball carrier in space. - A critical component of the drill is for the linebacker to aggressively close the distance between themselves and the offensive player before making contact. - Coaches should emphasize that elite linebackers must keep their hips and shoulders square upon contact to maintain leverage and power. - Players should avoid crossing their feet or "sitting in a chair" when approaching the tackle; instead, they must break down efficiently and maintain active feet through the strike. - The drill concludes by mimicking speed tackling techniques, where the defender focuses on getting to the hip and rolling through the finish. - This specific tackling progression is integrated into the regular season routine, with live tackling drills performed at least once a week to maintain sharp fundamentals.
