We had a company vehicle stolen from our Westminster location several weeks ago. Last week we received a parking ticket from our 'friends' in the Denver police department. They ticketed our stolen vehicle after it was listed as stolen and wanted us to pay the ticket.

People always complaining about officer involved shootings. These criminals are lucky there isn’t more. I think officers show restraint more than an average citizen would.

Early this morning, #DCSO deputies responded to a report of a burglary at a church on Clydesdale Road in Castle Pines. The driver backed a (stolen) car into the doors, then pried his way into the church. When deputies arrived, they saw the vehicle leaving the scene. A deputy tried to pull over the driver, who fled. After a short pursuit, stop sticks were deployed, which disabled the vehicle. The suspect stopped and surrendered without further incident. The suspect, who is not a resident of Douglas County, is facing charges of second degree burglary, first degree motor vehicle theft, felony eluding and driving under the influence. Douglas County Sheriff Darren Weekly said, “I am proud of my deputies who reacted quickly and took a criminal off the streets. We continue to warn thieves and burglars that Douglas County is not a place where you can victimize our residents, businesses, and places of worship.”

Douglas County Deputies Assist in DUI Pursuit with Successful Grappler Deployment In the early hours of October 4, 2025, at approximately 4:22 A.M., Douglas County Deputies responded to assist the Aurora Police Department in pursuit of a suspected DUI driver traveling westbound on E-470, passing Gartrell Road. Douglas County deputies responded immediately and set up two sets of stop sticks along E-470 in an attempt to bring the pursuit to a safe conclusion. Despite these efforts, the suspect vehicle continued westbound. A Douglas County Deputy, operating a patrol vehicle equipped with the Grappler device, joined the pursuit along with another deputy. After positioning behind the suspect, both maneuvered to the front of the pursuit. The suspect vehicle, which struck the concrete barrier multiple times, was ultimately stopped when our deputy successfully deployed the Grappler just west of South Quebec Street. The vehicle was brought to an immediate and controlled stop. The suspect was compliant and taken into custody by Aurora Police without incident. 3 Arrested – Stolen Vehicle DCSO Deputies were patrolling Highlands Ranch when they reviewed an alert from an Automatic License Plate Reader for a stolen vehicle. Deputies began searching the area for the car and located it parked in a strip mall’s lot. Deputies formulated a plan and blocked the vehicle in the parking spot. Deputies took the driver and rear passenger into custody without incident, then located the 3rd passenger walking the strip mall's parking lot and took her into custody without incident. Our deputies recently received a Flock hit on a stolen Chevy Silverado in the Evergreen area. The driver attempted to evade deputies by using side streets and back roads, but with the help of some well-placed stop sticks, we were able to slow the vehicle down after disabling multiple tires. A JSCO sergeant used the Grappler Police Bumper to safely bring the vehicle to a stop near Morrison Rd. and C-470. The driver made one last attempt to flee on foot, which also didn’t work. The suspect was eventually tased and taken into custody. The individual had an active warrant, was driving under restraint, and now faces charges for vehicular eluding, resisting arrest, aggravated motor vehicle theft, careless driving, and possession of a controlled substance. Great teamwork by all involved. It’s what we do.

🚫 “Don’t Run, Brother” 🚫 Deputies responded to a theft Saturday afternoon at the Highlands Ranch Target and quickly tracked the suspects driving a white truck towing a camper trailer. “Our deputies don’t back down. If you steal from our businesses, we WILL find you and we WILL arrest you,” said Sheriff Darren Weekly. “We’re grateful for retailers who report these incidents right away.” Deputies monitored the suspects as they got onto C‑470. The driver exited at Yosemite, stopped, and tried to run. Deputies caught him in a nearby field where he apologized and asked “what was I supposed to do?” Our deputy responded, “Not run brother.” A second suspect fled toward Lone Tree. With help from Lone Tree Police Department, deputies found him hiding in heavy brush. He surrendered and was taken into custody. The truck jackknifed at the Yosemite exit after the suspects bailed out, damaging their own vehicle but no others. After locating the vehicle and confirming it was stolen, one of our officers attempted a traffic stop. The suspect chose to flee. Rather than initiate a pursuit, the officers deployed a GPS tracking device and monitored the vehicle from a safe distance. A short time later, the vehicle came to a stop in a nearby neighborhood. Officers moved in and located the suspect nearby. He attempted to run but was quickly taken into custody. During the arrest, Officers recovered a firearm from the suspect’s backpack, along with marijuana. The suspect showed signs of impairment, and a warrant for a blood draw was obtained. This is what it looks like when training, technology, and teamwork come together. A dangerous situation brought under control without the need for a pursuit, reducing risk for everyone involved.

As officers arrived, the suspect exited through an emergency exit with a bag of loot and ran towards a waiting car. The getaway car saw the police car and bailed on their partner. The suspect then dropped the bag and started running. After a foot pursuit through the parking lot, the suspect was taken into custody. The suspect vehicle was able to avoid capture (for the time being), however, all $1,779.79 of the merchandise was recovered. The suspect, who is on parole for being a felon who possessed a firearm, was booked for grand theft, organized retail theft, conspiracy, and put on a parole hold.

Newly released video shows Utah County sheriff’s deputies and Utah Highway Patrol troopers stopping a wrong-way driver on I-15 early last month. According to the original incident report, two deputies responded to an agency assist after reports of a vehicle traveling northbound in the southbound lanes of I-15 near mile marker 263. Deputies located the vehicle near mile marker 269. One deputy struck the driver’s side of the vehicle, spinning it into another deputy’s patrol car, which prevented the wrong-way vehicle from reentering traffic. Both deputies and both occupants of the vehicle were not injured. All three vehicles sustained damage. Utah Highway Patrol took over the crash investigation and investigated the driver for DUI. The Utah County Sheriff’s Office said the incident happened shortly after 4 a.m. on Jan. 24, calling wrong-way driving a recurring and dangerous problem on Utah roadways. The sheriff’s office praised the deputies for putting themselves in harm’s way and said it is grateful no one was hurt. UHP continues to handle the crash and DUI investigation.

Quebec Street. The car was parked in a handicap spot with expired temporary tags (April 2024). The vehicle had been flagged earlier that day for running from police in another jurisdiction. One person was detained immediately, but two men…both Aurora residents…decided to take their chances on foot. It was all hands on deck to ensure they didn't get far: •Patrol Deputies established a tight perimeter. •Drones provided overhead surveillance. •K-9 Rudy, our IMPACT unit and our Traffic team conducted a ground search. One runner was caught quickly near a local business. The second suspect led deputies on a search through a nearby residential neighborhood. Thanks to vigilant citizens who pointed the way, deputies located the suspect hiding behind a first-floor balcony and safely took him into custody. The primary suspect was found to have multiple felony and misdemeanor warrants, including charges for burglary, stalking, and forgery. All three now face charges of obstruction. Great work by the entire team and our community for keeping Douglas County safe!
