Rather than provincial governments spending around Rs 1000 bn on school education, enrolling only a quarter of our kids, and failing the average child in both math & science, I suggest we give the same amount (Rs 3000) per child per month to the family to educate their own kids.

Won’t work, how can you ensure that the amount will be spent on the education and home tuitions can never be an alternate to schools. Instead of improving the quality of education in schools and aim for universal education , you want to get rid of schools altogether. C’mmon !!

Terrible idea. Low cost private schools should not be a replacement for public education. A broken system cannot be fixed by replacing it with an even more problematic system.

Excellent excellent suggestion sir . In just one province Rs 300 Billion is being spent on education with no positive outcomes

We made a lot of effort to bring article 25 A to the constitution of Pakistan. Please read and understand that education is a child’s right and state is supposed to ensure it. Your idea is not just absolutely useless but also very sad. Very.

Why do we always propose championing one thing and destroying the other. There are systems in place which needs better HR and accountability to perform and deliver. Privatising entire ed system will be a bigger disaster than what we have right now the public ed.

Rs2000Bn is just a budgetary number, real spending is much less. A lot of it goes into corruption, ghost teachers & ghost contractors Instead same amount should be given as stipend subject to mandatory school enrolment

This is too simplistic a solution. It won’t just work

Is giving parents a measly 3000 pm a solution? Don’t you think they’ll pocket it and the kids won’t be send to school

This is already in practice in all provinces through the provincial education foundations with a slight difference. The fees (fix amount) is paid to qualifying schools to improve enrolment and encourage families. @UmerOrk

So you're suggesting a conditional cash transfer to be used only for education?

You know this is bad advice, giving a poor family 3000 for their kids to learn, where private tuition or is there any other place where they can. Education is state duty and they should find a solution to provide education, ghareeb k bachey 3000 le kar pait bhare ge pare ge nah

So so shortsighted: 1. What if the family isn't educated? 2. What's the guarantee that 3000 will be spent on education? 3. What about the millions of teachers, administrative staff, caretakers etc that will be unemployed? This is why businessmen should not be in govt.

Nope. Management, maintenance, recruitment and running of schools needs to be devolved to local bodies instead of being run from the province or center. This’ll be the more long lasting solution where management in the end will be accountable to the people.

@MiftahIsmail is right. Learning outcomes are better in low cost private schools despite comparatively low paid and less qualified school teachers. The difference is accountability. Voucher system as implemented by Punjab Education Foundation is a brilliant way forward.

The suggestion is good. Why didn't you suggest to your government when you were in power? What's the point of sharing it now in the public?

Instead giving cash of Rs3000 per child, give rice & flour per school going kid like BD did in Gen Ershad tenure and also guarantee job of primary teacher to girl in same area after she passed matric. Boys b given technical skills during studies like Germany does.

Bold. A key contributor for upward social and income mobility has been through public funded professional education. Will this suggestion also not take away opportunity from lower middle income groups say in medicine and engineering which worked reasonably well in past.

By giving special qouta, smaller families should be encouraged in social stimulus programmes like Benezir Income support or Ehsas. Population control has to start now and on emergency basis, our population explosion will off set any economic gains made by the country.

There are too many loopholes out there. It wd be better to help provinces catch the bull by the horn. Schools need better management at Dist/tehsil/town level. Help people manage their own affairs. We are looking at 20 years for the entire system to transform. Empower parents.

This overlooks the root causes of the issue. Simply throwing money at the problem won't solve the underlying systemic issues that lead to poor education outcomes, issues such as teacher quality, curriculum development, and access to resources in order to improve education system.

Pakistani political engineers for you! Instead of improving the primary and secondary education and attract out of school children, distribute money creating more financial dependency. What a stupid idea @MiftahIsmail - that's how you want to reimagine pakistan.

Education should be de regularized. I am MA In English literature and Secondary school teacher in KPK. And i have seen despite spending 9 thousands rupees per Kid, and employing best cadre of teachers for Job, results are still not satisfactory.
