@ericschmidt @Google That’s an insane amount of power and will accelerate global warming past all tipping points. Ideally we would have legislation forcing new data centers into space. Otherwise they will cannibalize our renewables, non-renewables, and our atmosphere, basically everything.

@ericschmidt @Google Nobody believes that. It would imply data centers would be 100x all other electricity consumption, which means 100x increase in world energy production.

I think the discussion about data centers in space is to address another potential bottleneck in the ecosystem, which is energy. I think the discussion around putting data center in space is there because if you do that, the energy consumption or the energy availability will be there, about trying to solve another potential big issue, which is energy for data center. I think the Terafab is an example of a major fab project."
