It definitely cannot happen simultaneously, the US/West would NEVER allow that, especially here in Africa. The only country on the proper path to nuclear at the moment is Iran. They started with one of the largest ballistic missiles programs outside any nuclear armed country and to day they are able to defend themselves and even overwhelm their opponents.

You won't be able to protect your nuclear sites without a properly equipped army. They struck Iranian sites last year, but Iran was able to protect them. You have no real balls if you cannot defend yourself properly.

I'll summarize it for you. * Nuclear arms are the final stage of military and scientific development for any nation that pursues them. * There are opponents who do not care about international law who are ready to destroy the nuclear program of any country pursuing them. * Delivery of the weapons is actually what makes them dangerous hence the first steps are to develop a serious ballistics program. They're pointless if you can't deliver them. * A country like S.A would need to first focus on developing a strong army with all kinds of fancy technologies in order to be able to defend such a program. * I gave the example of Iran. They have all the ingredients of a nuclear program hence they are perceived as a massive threat. They're strong enough to provide meaningful defense of all their nuclear sites. * Deception is key. You cannot openly develop such and expect nothing to happen. You guys think you can just start a nuclear program overnight by tearing the Phelindaba agreement. lol.
