Bench press leg lifts is one of my favorites, but it’s not for beginners and safer with a spotter or Smith machine Requires perfect form, not heavy weight Benefits: •Increased Core Activation ◦With your legs elevated, your core muscles (abs, obliques, and lower back) have to work harder to stabilize your body since you're removing the leg drive and base of support. •Improved Stability and Balance ◦Keeping your legs up forces you to stabilize the bar without relying on your feet, potentially improving overall motor control and muscle coordination. •Isolation of Chest and Upper Body ◦By removing leg drive and lower-body assistance, the bench press becomes more of an upper-body isolation exercise, increasing the challenge to your chest, shoulders, and triceps. •Preventing Cheating via Leg Drive ◦Some people arch excessively or use their legs to bounce the bar off the chest. Lifting the legs removes this possibility, enforcing stricter form (but at the cost of decreased total power).
