Texas is now arguing in federal court that what you say on social media is “commercial speech,” a category the courts have long treated as less protected under the First Amendment. If that argument wins, the government gets far more room to regulate who can speak online and under what conditions. Harrison sees exactly what’s at stake. “The First Amendment is critically important, and I will oppose, and I’m going to continue to oppose, anything that that looks like it’s going to impede the First Amendment freedoms of the hundreds of thousands of Texans that I am honored to represent,” he said, noting that the founders protected speech precisely because unpopular speech is the kind that needs protecting. And the “commercial speech” framing collapses on contact with how people actually use these platforms. Social media is where Americans contact their representatives, organize politically, and challenge official narratives. JUST IN: The ACLU is suing Louisiana over Act 399, which prohibits interference with ICE operations there. ACLU Louisiana: "Act 399 criminalizes first amendment protected speech by essentially suggesting that if anyone were to delay, thwart or interfere with border patrol agents trying to effect arrests of individuals, they could be charged with a crime. And the reason why we believe that this is a first amendment violation is because the words delay or interfere or thwart are very vague. And we believe that the attorney general is using this vagueness to intimidate, threaten, and chill first amendment speech." Apparently deporting illegal immigrants is unconstitutional. That makes sense, right???

This should frighten everyone, but it really should make you WAKE UP. I’ve heard this same sort of playing with the first of amendment over the last couple months… The word democracy is in Greek roots meaning “rule by the people” so a government for the people by the people. These people r telling us in plain sight… They want to control the narrative and if it dosent fit into theirs…That pesky thing..the first amendment is a “privilege” Freedom of speech is the cornerstone of a democracy. How are people in the same voices calling for democracy..seemingly pushing for making the cornerstone of democracy a “privilege”
