Today, I signed a decree introducing a sanctions package against Russian and other individuals and entities supporting Russia’s military system. These include developers, manufacturers, and suppliers of drones for the occupiers, individuals assisting in importing critical components into Russia, as well as those training drone operators. In total, more than a hundred entities and individuals. We are actively working with our partners to synchronize these sanctions with their respective measures. Unfortunately, many critical components are still being supplied to Russia from Europe and the US. And we are not talking about a dozen components, but hundreds of thousands of components, purely commercial supplies. The direct consequence of all this is that the Russians are terrorizing our country, threatening other countries, behaving despicably, and refusing to make peace. That can be achieved with adequate strength of our army, our long-range strike capabilities, and strong sanctions and pressure against Russia. Right now, we are defending ourselves from Russian attacks almost every day. This week alone, there were more than 1,500 strike drones, over 1,280 guided aerial bombs, and 50 missiles of various types. Thousands of foreign components have been found in this weaponry – more than 132,000 items – from many countries: Europe, the United States, China, Japan, and dozens of others. All these technologies help Russia create weapons on a large scale. All for the sake of terror against our people. There were also 250 drones, mostly Shaheds. I am grateful to everyone helping Ukraine with air defence. Delivering air defence systems to us means real protection for people — here and now. Russia fills each day with horror and murder, it’s simply dragging out the war. All of this demands a response — a strong response from the United States, from Europe, and from everyone in the world who wants this war to end. Putin has refused to cease fire repeatedly. It gains him nothing, except taking lives every single day. Every day gives new grounds for sanctions against Russia. Every day proves that without pressure on Russia, the war will continue. We need to step up our countermeasures against these attacks. We are preparing for meetings with partners to strengthen our defense against this Russian terror. The G7, EU, and NATO summits are ahead. And it is very important that these negotiations result in concrete decisions. We expect meaningful meetings with our partners. 🇺🇦 Zelensky: This night, Russia launched a massive combined strike that lasted almost ten hours. 18 missiles, including ballistic missiles, and about 400 strike drones, of which almost 200 were “Shaheds”. All day today, efforts have been underway to eliminate the consequences of the Russian strike on our cities and communities. Various regions – from Kharkiv and Sumy to Ivano-Frankivsk. There was a massive attack on Kyiv. A significant number of “shaheds” and missiles were shot down. And every such wave of Russian strikes reminds us of two things: air defense – we need more systems, more coverage across our country – and also our long-range strikes on Russia. If Putin is off the deep end with this “shahed” obsession and terror, they must be left without logistics. Everyone working to protect lives and limit Russia’s war potential is working toward achieving peace. I also thank all partners who are pushing for new and stronger sanctions, including secondary sanctions. Let Russian bravado not deceive anyone – they are truly feeling the impact of sanctions. And they must end the aggression. Russia must end the war it started, nobody else needs this war but Russia.

Today, I had a meeting with Josep Borrell, the EU’s High Representative for Foreign Affairs, discussing our relations and cooperation with the European Union. An important piece of news—by the end of the year, our European partners are expected to fully implement their initiative to supply Ukraine with one million artillery shells. I also met today with Estonia’s Minister of Defense. Recently, a Russian “Shahed” drone strike on Kyiv damaged the building that houses the residence of the Estonian Ambassador to Ukraine. This incident is yet another reminder of the need not only to strengthen our defenses against Russian terror but also to increase pressure on Russia to limit its military production. Every “Shahed” drone, every missile Russia uses, is built with components sourced through sanctions loopholes. The next EU sanctions package must target these sanctions circumvention schemes directly. Those who continue this kind of trade with Russia must clearly understand the consequences. Last night, Russia terrorized Ukraine with over 50 strike drones, and over the past week, it has used more than 900 bombs, around 30 missiles, and nearly 500 “Shaheds” against various regions of Ukraine. Most of these strikes have targeted civilian and critical infrastructure. All of these attacks would have been impossible if we had sufficient support from the world in crucial areas: long-range capabilities for our security, truly effective sanctions to prevent Russia from importing critical components for drone and missile production—especially microelectronics—and political decisions that could ruin Russia’s will to wage this war. Ukraine deserves the same strong security as all our partners in the free world.

Last night alone, Russia launched 172 strike drones — over 100 of them were Shaheds. These massive drone attacks have now become a near-daily reality. On top of that, there are continued missile threats, including ballistic ones. Our partners should clearly understand: these strikes are not just attacks on Ukrainian civilians, but also on all international efforts — on the very diplomacy we are trying to use to end this war. Russia is striking at the positions of everyone who wants to end this war. It is impossible to ignore hundreds of Shaheds every night. We expect a response. We are working toward a response. A strong response is needed — from the U.S., from Europe, from everyone in the world who has placed their bets on diplomacy. Russia must be forced into peace — only pressure will work. For far too long, the U.S. proposal for an unconditional ceasefire has been on the table — without a proper response from Russia. That says a lot. There could already have been a ceasefire — if there had been real pressure on Russia. I thank those partners who understand this and are pushing the necessary decisions forward — including new sanctions.
