Russian assault operations continue, and our forces maintain all necessary combat activity. The most intense situation remains in the Donetsk region, particularly in the Pokrovsk direction. We are also continuing active operations in the Kursk and Belgorod regions — this is our active and effective defence of Sumy and... Kharkiv regions. Since the start of the Kursk operation in August, the Russian army has suffered significant losses, more than sixty-three thousand killed and wounded in that area alone. Our forces have also managed to substantially replenish “exchange fund” for Ukraine. The more combat activity is carried out on enemy territory, the more it protects our communities. Unfortunately, the Russians show no signals of a ceasefire and are not yet ready to end the war. Commander Syrskyi reported on the situation at the front lines, including the Donetsk directions, Kharkiv region, the south, the border areas, and the Kursk region. Since the beginning of this June alone, Russians have used more than 2,400 guided aerial bombs against Ukraine. Of these, around 700 have been targeted at the Kharkiv region, striking our positions, our cities, and communities. Such Russian strikes are also being carried out daily against Donetsk and other frontline and border regions. Ukraine needs the necessary resources and means to destroy the carriers of these bombs, particularly Russian combat aviation wherever it operates. I am grateful to all our partners, especially the United States, for their strong decisions that have helped us stabilize the situation in the border areas of Kharkiv. We have gained the ability to destroy Russian missile launchers near the border and concentrations of Russian occupiers. We need to continue making such decisions. The significant reduction in Russian missile terror against Kharkiv and the region proves that it is absolutely possible to secure our cities and communities from Russian bombs. Therefore, modern air defense systems for Ukraine – such as Patriots, accelerated training of our pilots for F-16s, and most importantly, sufficient range for our weapons – are truly necessary. Necessary for the protection of lives – and solely for this purpose. I thank everyone in the world who supports us in this. During the Kursk operation, the enemy has already lost over 38,000 soldiers in this single direction alone, with approximately 15,000 of them irrecoverable losses. The Russians have deployed their strongest units to Kursk, including soldiers from North Korea. Importantly, all this manpower cannot now be redirected to other fronts—neither to the Donetsk region, nor against Sumy, the Kharkiv region, or Zaporizhzhia. I thank all our warriors who are bringing the war back home—to Russia—and giving Ukraine more security and strength.

All night long, emergency crews in Kyiv were battling fires in apartment buildings and cars after Russian drone strikes on residential neighborhoods. Unfortunately, there are injured children and adults. Everyone has received the necessary assistance. In Cherkasy, an ordinary dormitory was on fire. Last night, Russian forces also targeted the Kharkiv, Mykolaiv, and Kyiv regions with Shahed drones. In total, 165 UAVs were launched overnight – most of them Iranian Shaheds. Throughout the morning, guided aerial bomb strikes on the Donetsk and Sumy regions are continuing. The Russians are calling for a ceasefire on May 9 while striking Ukraine every single day. This is top-level cynicism: just this week alone, Russia has used over 1,180 attack drones, 1,360 guided aerial bombs, and 10 missiles of various types against Ukraine. A real ceasefire is necessary. I want to thank all our friends in Europe and in other parts of the world who come to Ukraine, who visit our regions and see what Russia is actually doing, and how important it is to maintain support for Ukraine at a sufficient level. It is precisely the sufficient level of support for Ukraine that provides one of the elements of pressure on Russia. The second element of pressure is sanctions against Russia. Odesa, Zaporizhzhia, Sumy, Kyiv, Khmelnytskyi, and Chernihiv regions came under fire. As a result of the massive strikes by the occupiers on the Odesa region, fires broke out in a shopping mall and several stores, and a residential building was damaged. Three children were injured. In Zaporizhzhia, six people were injured by Russian aerial bombs, including a 4-year-old child. Ordinary houses and vehicles were damaged. In these and all other affected regions, assistance is being provided to the victims. Emergency services are on the scene and working. Today, we completed another exchange. 103 Ukrainian defenders have been returned from Russian captivity. Many of these men have been held since 2022 – from the first months of the war. These include warriors of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the National Guard, border guards, police officers, and soldiers from other elements of our Defense and Security Forces. Among them are defenders from the Kyiv and Donetsk regions, including Mariupol and Azovstal, as well as other parts of the regions. Some were captured in Kharkiv and Kherson regions as well. Some of the men are in serious condition due to injuries, and all will receive the necessary care. I want to thank our exchange team for their work. And my deep gratitude to all our brave combat brigades who continue to contribute to the "exchange fund" for our country. In particular, the recent operation in the Kursk region gave us the necessary momentum.

Today in Kramatorsk, the entire day was spent clearing the rubble after a Russian missile strike. Among the injured were journalists - a Reuters film crew, citizens of Ukraine, America, and Britain. A regular city hotel was destroyed by a Russian “Iskander” missile. Deliberately. Calculated. Seven people were injured, and one person lost their life. My deepest condolences to the families and loved ones. This is the daily Russian terror that continues because Russia still has the means to continue. Today, too, Russian strikes targeted our Sumy region –with "KAB" bombs, as well as on Kharkiv, Kherson, and Donetsk regions. For all of this, the world must not stop exerting pressure on the terrorist state. For missile strikes, for "KAB" bombs, for assaults. In general – for this entire war. Russia must be forced to seek peace. Today, I want to especially acknowledge our forces who are already holding Russia accountable. With the forces we have and the ones we are constantly strengthening. Every unit of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the Main Intelligence Directorate, and the Security Service of Ukraine working on our long-range capabilities. Everyone repelling Russian assaults on the front line, especially now in the Donetsk region. Everyone engaged in the defensive operation in Kursk region. I thank all our warriors. Also, my deepest gratitude to all the manufacturers of our Ukrainian weapons, suppliers of all the essential components, and the developers – each one of you who tirelessly works for Ukraine. Another week has ended without any attempt by Russia to agree to the numerous demands of the world and stop the killings. In just the past 24 hours on the front, there have been 137 combat engagements, and this is the case every day. The Russian army is not reducing its pressure. Nor does it count its losses. In particular, in the area of responsibility of just one of our units – the 32nd Separate Mechanized Brigade in the Donetsk region, in the Pokrovsk sector – 209 occupiers were eliminated in the week between August 4 and 10. And this is the result of only one of our brigades. Ukrainian warriors are taking active measures, defending positions, and in every area of hostilities – even in the most difficult ones – there are results Ukraine needs. We are holding our positions, and we are doing everything to destroy or drive out the occupier. Over this same period – the past week – the Russians have used more than a thousand aerial bombs and nearly 1,400 attack drones against Ukraine. Missile strikes also continue. We are defending the lives of our people and strengthening our air defenses. This is what the situation in the war looks like. And the situation in diplomacy must correspond accordingly. Russia is dragging out the war, and therefore it deserves stronger global pressure. Russia refuses to stop the killings, and therefore must not receive any rewards or benefits. And this is not just a moral position – it is a rational one. Concessions do not persuade a killer. But truly strong protection of life stops the killers. This is an important operation—we maintain this “buffer zone” in designated areas near our state border. We must also recognize the value of the Kursk Operation in strengthening our “exchange fund,” which has significantly helped in freeing our people from Russian captivity. I thank all the soldiers, sergeants, and officers involved in our active efforts in the Kursk region. There was also a separate report from the Main Intelligence Directorate and the Foreign Intelligence Service about North Korean military personnel present on Russian territory. Currently, there are already eleven thousand stationed in the Kursk region. We see an increase in North Korean forces, but, unfortunately, we do not see an increase in response from our partners.
