Today, we completed another exchange. 103 Ukrainian defenders have been returned from Russian captivity. Many of these men have been held since 2022 – from the first months of the war. These include warriors of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the National Guard, border guards, police officers, and soldiers... from other elements of our Defense and Security Forces. Among them are defenders from the Kyiv and Donetsk regions, including Mariupol and Azovstal, as well as other parts of the regions. Some were captured in Kharkiv and Kherson regions as well. Some of the men are in serious condition due to injuries, and all will receive the necessary care. I want to thank our exchange team for their work. And my deep gratitude to all our brave combat brigades who continue to contribute to the "exchange fund" for our country. In particular, the recent operation in the Kursk region gave us the necessary momentum.show more

heartening to hear about the successful return of 103 Ukrainian defenders. Their release after being held for so long is a significant development, and it's crucial that they receive the care they need. The efforts of the exchange team and the ongoing contributions of the combat brigades are commendable, reflecting the dedication to securing the release of captured personnel. This progress underscores the ongoing commitment to addressing the needs of those affected by the conflict.

95 of our people are home again. These are the warriors who defended Mariupol and "Azovstal," as well as the Donetsk, Luhansk, Kharkiv, Kyiv, Chernihiv, and Kherson regions. Each time Ukraine rescues its people from Russian captivity, we bring closer the day when freedom will be returned to all those still held in Russian captivity. I thank the team involved in finding and liberating prisoners. We are doing everything to bring back all of our people held by Russia. I am grateful to the warriors who replenish the exchange fund and to all our partners who help us. 🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦

Another group of our warriors is back home. Today, Ukrainian servicemen returned from Russian captivity — including members of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, particularly the Air Assault Forces, Naval Forces, and Territorial Defense Forces. Also released were service members of the State Border Guard Service, the National Guard, and the State Special Transport Service. Many of them spent nearly two years in captivity. Many have serious injuries and health issues. Most are officers. We know each and every one. We are bringing everyone back. And we continue working to return all. Thank you to everyone who makes this possible every day — and especially to our defenders who stood strong in captivity. Glory to Ukraine!

As a result of these days and this week, we have strengthened our positions in the Kharkiv region. I thank the warriors of the 57th Motorized and the 82nd Air Assault Brigades. Our forces are also effectively destroying the occupiers in the Donetsk direction, particularly near Chasiv Yar and other locations. In fact, the occupiers fail to achieve their goal of stretching our forces thin and weakening Ukraine across a wide front from the Kharkiv to the Donetsk regions. I am grateful to every soldier, sergeant, and officer who complete combat missions and hold positions with sufficient bravery and resilience. These days, my special thanks go to the 41st Mechanized Brigade, DIU’s special forces units "Kraken" and "Artan,” as well as the National Guard units. I thank our warriors in particular for Chasiv Yar operations, as well as destroying Russian equipment and repelling Russian assaults. I would also like to specifically thank the 225th Assault Battalion. Well done, warriors!

🥴 Kyiv will pay for its crimes in the Kursk region with the loss of territory needed for a security zone — Putin. “There are new proposals from the Ukrainian authorities at the negotiations. The proposal to limit hostilities in Ukraine only to the Kherson and Zaporizhzhia regions, as well as the ‘DNR’ and ‘LNR’, will allow the Ukrainian Armed Forces to withdraw troops from other territories.”

Three years ago, Azovstal Defenders surrendered into Russian captivity. They defended Mariupol and Azovstal for 86 days. Over 800 Defenders from Azov are still captives of Russia, three years later. Russia is very reluctant to exchange them. I remember those days so well. I remember how Ukraine and the world watched the heroism of Azovstal and prayed for our Defenders. How I rushed to subtitle all the videos from there and share them with you (I wonder if anyone has been following me since those early days?) Every weekend, there are many rallies all over Ukraine to free Ukrainian Defenders who are in Russian captivity, including Azov (the video shows one of them in Kyiv). You will see posters and stickers saying Free Azov in many cafes and restaurants in Kyiv. Hoping and praying that Azov Warriors and all Ukrainian Defenders return home soon from Russian captivity.

Ukraine will always be grateful to all those who serve our country with dedication every day and protect the lives of our people from Russian terror. Today, we express our special gratitude to all the defenders of our skies—to the Ukrainian warriors of the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine for every downed Russian target, for their efficiency and precision. From the very first days of this war, Ukraine has been countering Russian airstrikes. Our warriors have already destroyed thousands of Russian missiles and drones, and hundreds of Russian combat planes and helicopters. These are significant results. And we are doing everything to ensure that the Ukrainian Air Force can achieve even more. They will definitely succeed! Glory to our Air Force! Glory to Ukraine!

Russian assault operations continue, and our forces maintain all necessary combat activity. The most intense situation remains in the Donetsk region, particularly in the Pokrovsk direction. We are also continuing active operations in the Kursk and Belgorod regions — this is our active and effective defence of Sumy and Kharkiv regions. Since the start of the Kursk operation in August, the Russian army has suffered significant losses, more than sixty-three thousand killed and wounded in that area alone. Our forces have also managed to substantially replenish “exchange fund” for Ukraine. The more combat activity is carried out on enemy territory, the more it protects our communities. Unfortunately, the Russians show no signals of a ceasefire and are not yet ready to end the war. Therefore, all our forms of pressure, all our work with partners to put pressure on Russia, are absolutely necessary. Pressure convinces. Pressure on the battlefield. Pressure on the economy, and that is exactly what sanctions are for. Pressure in politics. Thank you to everyone who supports Ukraine.

Eight stages of a major exchange. Since the beginning of June, hundreds of our people have returned home. Our youth, the defenders of Mariupol, those who held the line in the Donetsk, Zaporizhzhia, Luhansk, Kharkiv, Sumy, Chernihiv, and Kyiv regions. The wounded, the severely ill. Those who had been considered missing in action. Most of them had been in captivity since 2022. And not only military personnel – Ukraine has also brought home civilians. This is the result of the efforts made by Ukraine’s large team. We continue this work and will carry on until we bring everyone back – without exception. UNITED24 Media

Welcome home, Warriors! Among the Ukrainian Defenders released today are 25 officers whom Russia had previously absolutely refused to exchange. More than half of the released defenders were captured by Russia during the defense of Mariupol. The youngest of them is 22 years old, and the oldest is 63. Additionally, 7 Ukrainian civilians who had been held in Russian captivity since 2022 have also returned home.

ZELENSKYY: We continue to bring people home from Russian captivity. Today, 160 soldiers returned. Almost all of them have been in captivity since 2022. More than 9,500 Ukrainians already returned since start of full-scale war. This year 1,596 of our men and women have come back. We must return every single one, both military personnel and civilians, who remains in Russian captivity. Thank you to the negotiation team and to every unit that continues to replenish the exchange fund for Ukraine.

We are now in a new phase of development for the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. We have done a lot to transition the Ukrainian Air Force to a new aviation standard – Western combat aviation. From the beginning of this war, we have been talking with our partners about the need to close the Ukrainian sky from Russian missiles and aircraft. We have held hundreds of meetings and negotiations to strengthen the capabilities of our aviation, air defense, and Defense Forces. We often heard the word "impossible" in response, but we made possible what was our ambition, our defense need, and now – it is a reality in our sky. F-16s in Ukraine. We ensured this. I am proud of all our guys who are skillfully mastering these aircraft and have already started using them for our country. I thank our team for this result. I thank all the partners who are truly helping with the F-16s, and the first countries that accepted our request for aircraft – Denmark, the Netherlands, the United States, – and all our partners, – we value your support. I wish our Air Force and all our warriors to feel the pride of Ukrainians in our combat aviation and to bring Ukraine the combat results that will bring our victory closer – our just peace for Ukraine.

Today, our long-range sanctions worked across three areas on Russian territory, as well as on our temporarily occupied land and at sea. In particular, in response to Russian strikes on our civilian infrastructure and on our cities and communities, two major logistics facilities were hit – in the Moscow and Tambov regions, more than 500 and nearly 700 kilometers from the front line. The aggressor used them to supply sanctioned components for drone production and navigation equipment. An oil facility was also struck. In addition, Ukrainian mid-range strikes engaged targets in the waters of the Sea of Azov and the Black Sea, and in our temporarily occupied Crimea. I thank the warriors of the Unmanned Systems Forces, the Special Operations Forces, the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the Security Service of Ukraine, and the Defense Intelligence of Ukraine – every unit of Ukraine's Defense Forces – for their precise and coordinated execution of these missions. Glory to Ukraine!
