On April 12th 2014, the Russian GRU agent Igor Girkin and 60 other heavily armed men crossed into Ukraine from Russia and took control of the city of Sloviansk, starting the War in the Donbas. Ukrainian forces repelled a Russian mechanized assault on the outskirts of Myrnohrad. The 7th Air Assault Corps destroyed all Russian vehicles and confirmed 18 Russian troops were killed. As of now, there are no more Russian forces in Myrnohrad or Pokrovsk, but the situation remains fluid.

He noted that along the entire front line Russian forces are advancing successfully and said he hopes they will continue to do so.
