His view is that AI will eventually make a lot of jobs obsolete, and in that future, UBI, universal basic income will be needed so people can still have a living while machines do most of the work. He’s called UBI “necessary” in a high-AI future, but he’s also said it should be more like a “universal high income” tied to making sure people benefit from AI productivity, not just getting a basic check to survive.
