🔥 HOLLAND HEXAGON POSITIONAL RONDO UNDER XAVI A 8v3 rondo practice designed to challenge support angles, decision making and counter pressing reactions. ⚽ How It Works • Play is 8v3 inside a hexagon shape • Players are limited in touches • Two central players link possession through the middle • The possession team scores by completing a set number of consecutive passes • If the pressing team regain the ball, they can combine with the central neutral players • Every completed pass after regaining possession scores a point 📌 Save this one and like for more. #FootballCoaching #Rondo #PositionalPlay #CounterPressing #FootballTraining #PlayerDevelopment #SoccerCoaching

⚽ SOMETHING DIFFERENT FOR COACHES TO TAKE INTO THEIR OWN TRAINING Newcastle United used this possession and counter pressing rondo in training yesterday morning, but there was one detail that made the practice interesting. The setup was a 6v3 inside a 9 x 9 yard area. The six possession players looked to circulate the ball under pressure and, after completing six or more passes, could score into one of the mini target goals. The three pressing players had a simple objective. Win it and score quickly. But here was the twist 👇 At ANY moment, the coach could serve a new ball directly into the three pressing players. Immediately, the mentality of the six players had to change. From possession to aggressive counter press. No warning. No predictable trigger. Just instant reaction. The six players had to recognise the transition, sprint to reduce space, lock onto the nearest options, protect the target goals and prevent the three players from escaping or getting an early shot away. Counter pressing moments in matches are rarely scripted. Players lose possession in different areas, from different actions and in different body positions. The coach serving the ball creates unpredictable transition moments and forces the players to develop the habit of reacting immediately rather than waiting for the picture to become comfortable. The key behaviours coaches can demand: 🔥 Immediate reaction on the transition 🔥 Sprint to reduce time and space 🔥 Nearest player applies aggressive pressure 🔥 Supporting players lock onto passing options 🔥 Protect the direct route to goal 🔥 Force play away from the most dangerous space 🔥 Hunt collectively rather than pressing individually 🔥 Regain possession and immediately secure the next action A simple rondo with a really intelligent constraint. Possession. Transition. Counter press. Game realism. All inside one practice. For coach education videos, training videos and much more, access the member area on our website.

🔴 Take 30 seconds to read and understand this Liverpool positional practice under Andoni Iraola. We’ve seen this practice shared on other pages who try to replicate what we do, but the explanations have been wrong. First of all, this is a 6v5 positional practice, not 6v6 or 5v5. In the first zone, the practice is played as a 5v4 and within an area 16(L) x 28(W) Yards. The players are deliberately positioned to replicate: ▪️ Two centre backs on the end line (They can step in) ▪️ Two inverted wide players ▪️ One central pivot ▪️ Two mini goals representing players between the lines AKA number 10 positions. The top zone is then played as a 1v1. The practice is designed to recreate central overloads when Liverpool have controlled possession in the opposition half, that's why it is setup in that part of the pitch, again deliberately so. The 1v1 represents a potential moment when an opposition centre back steps forward to track a player receiving between the lines, and spaces appear to run into. This creates an important decision for the team in possession. After completing a set number of passes, can they: ⚽ Play into a mini goal (10 positions between lines), for one point? Or… ⚽ Release the attacker with a well timed forward pass beyond for two points if a goal is scored? The attacker must remain onside, angle their run beyond the defender and finish into either target goal. If the pressing team regains possession, their objective is to attack quickly and score in transition into the mini target goals just beyond the halfway line. The purpose of the practice is to develop pictures, connections and decisions when dominating possession high up the pitch. Can we play through the opposition when the space is available, or play beyond them when they step forward? From there, the coaching principles begin: ✅ Play forward when it’s on ✅ Recognize when to play through or beyond ✅ Maintain positional connections ✅ React immediately in transition And so on! That’s session planning, and a real insight into the detail behind the practice. Save this for your next session and follow us for more ⚽ #FootballCoaching #SoccerCoaching #PositionalPlay #LiverpoolFC #AndoniIraola #CoachDevelopment #FootballTactics #SoccerDrills #FootballTraining

Roberto De Zerbi Positional Rondo working with Tottenham Hotspur yesterday morning Real purpose behind it from a game principles perspective! ⚽ 4v2 positional rondo variation ⚽ Tight 8x6 yard space to increase pressure ⚽ Players fixed in position to maintain structure ⚽ No freedom to drift The objective was centered around recognizing the moments in possession 💡 When to take touches 💡 When to play quickly 💡 When to invite pressure Key coaching detail QUOTE "The opposition decides the speed we play" What did he mean by that?? = 🔥 Aggressive press = Quick play with good support angles. 🔥 Passive press = More touches and composure on the ball to invite pressure and then break it. The practice design maintained intensity throughout 🔁 Pressing players rotated regularly ⏱️ Timed sets 🏆 Points awarded for pass targets 🏃‍♂️ Physical runs between sets Technical tactical and physical elements all combined within one simple rondo practice This is how possession principles are built into training 👉 Understanding pressure 👉 Controlling tempo 👉 Playing with intention A simple detail with a big impact on how the game is played under Roberto De Zerbi. #RobertoDeZerbi #SoccerCoaching #FootballCoaching #CoachingEducation #PositionalPlay

Morocco 5v5 + 3 Possession & Counter Pressing Game 🇲🇦 Dimensions: 18(W) x 28(L) Yards In possession, the team must build into a clear shape: 3 central players 2 wide players on the flanks The aim is to keep the ball and complete a set number of passes while maintaining that structure to score points. There are also neutral goalkeepers on each end line and one neutral player inside the pitch to support the team in possession. When the ball is lost, the defending team can press anywhere. This encourages players to react immediately, win the ball back quickly, and counter press with intensity. Coaching focus: Structure in possession. Quick reaction after losing the ball. ⚽️🔥 Something different, unique and creative, this is a Keepitonthedeck Academy Session Plan🔥⚽️ This is a rondo transfer hybrid, development in the chaos 👇 🚀 What’s the focus? • Possession under pressure • Quick transitions • Decision making ⚡️ How it works: • Blues + neutral create a 5v2 in the middle • 🎯 Complete 5 passes = score • 🔄 Lose it? Immediate transition to defend • 🔴 If Reds win it → transfer across zones to score • 🧠 Constant thinking, scanning, adapting 💡 Why this session is creative? • Game realistic chaos = repetitions in challenging environment • Attack + defense instantly • Encourages speed of play + awareness • Builds composure under pressure 📏 Set-Up: • 3 zones (central + 2 end zones) • 2 teams of 4 players (3 Neutrals) • 2 target goals • High intensity, short bursts (4 min sets) 🎯 Coaching Detail: • 👀 Scan early, play faster • 📐 Create angles & spacing • 🗣️ Communicate CONSTANTLY • 🔄 Transition and press with intent • ⚡ Encourage positive forward actions 💬 This is the kind of practice that turns training principles into MATCH PERFORMANCE. Manchester City🔵⚪️ 4v4+3 possession based game that Man City have used as a warm up⚽️ • Neutral players to represent, ST, CM & CB • In possession team to work on the outside of the area • Defending team to press and work inside the area to try and regain possession Quick transitions for when the ball is turned over. I haven't managed to get into the mind of Pep Guardiola, however I am sure this would be linked to their game model and how they like their team to play. Preparing the players cognitively and technically for the game they are about to play!⚽️ QUESTIONS: 🎯 • What does your match day warm up look like? • Is it always the same? • Does it change based on what you have been working on that week with your players? • Do you ask the players what they like to do for a warm up? 🔘Tottenham Hotspur positional game setup under Roberto De Zerbi yesterday morning 🔥 18x18 area. Locked in positions in possession ⚽ In possession: stay in your box, use the neutrals, find a way through the pressure. 🔥 Out of possession: press as a two in each half Simple Objective: Move it from one end zone to the other = score. If the pressing team win it? Roles reverse instantly. High tempo. Sharp decisions. Non stop transitions. 🔴Spain World Cup 2026 Camp 🔄 8v8 + 8 Possession & Counter Pressing Practice ⚽ One team acts as the central neutral team and is always in possession. 🆚 The other two teams compete to win the ball. 📍 When in possession, teams position players around the outside of the playing area. 🔥 If possession is lost, the team must react quickly and counter press. 🚀 The pressing team looks to win the ball and transition quickly. 🔁 After winning possession, they take up positions around the outside of the area. 🌐 Get access to more exclusive sessions here ➡️
