Your phone can build voxel world now! 👾 This is an open-source tool that converts phone video into 3D point clouds. You can run Depth Anything 3 locally. Basically just local GPU inference. The interesting part is how it handles messy input. Video windows overlap, scale gets converted to real meters, drift gets corrected after inference. The system stitches everything together even when footage is noisy. Objects far away might fail strict confidence filters but still show up as recognizable buildings. That's huge for small robots because perception becomes cheap and stays local. Obviously it wouldn't be a phone for robots, but it shows the potential of edge/local perception processing. A robot can understand its environment without offloading to the cloud. Real-world video has artifacts and occlusions. The system doesn't need perfect input to reconstruct scene structure. It works with what's there. For robotics, this means small platforms can build 3D maps autonomously using hardware they already have. Among the countless hits they gave us is this masterpiece from 1992: Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis. One of the most unusual twists was one of its endings. It’s actually a bad ending, with Indy dying - quite grim for a LucasArts adventure. But it also made the game stand out even more and added significantly to its replay value, thanks to the different paths you could choose and the multiple possible endings. Very much in the same way older “Choose Your Own Adventure” books worked, letting the reader (or player) have a real impact on how the story unfolds. Easily among the best point-and-click adventures ever made.

Who here remembers Pharaoh (1999), a city-building sim developed by Impressions Games? Deciding between this one and Caesar III (also by Impressions Games) was tough. I lean ever so slightly toward Pharaoh, but it’s very close. Maybe it’s just the setting - ancient Egypt instead of yet another “build an empire in Europe” variant. Pharaoh felt a bit more exciting and fresh with its different cultural background. Players guide a dynasty across 15 centuries of ancient Egypt, starting with a small village and rising to massive cities. Core gameplay revolves around resource management, housing evolution, farming, trade, and constructing monumental wonders like pyramids. In this sense the connection to Caesar III is noticeable, as the key focus is on micro-management. Your people need food, goods, healthcare, and a few more things to stay happy. You also prepare to defend against invaders or the occasional disaster, which increase in the later stages of the game. It was highly praised for its historical depth and atmospheric soundtrack (sometimes just watching your people go about their day and listening to all the sounds was almost hypnotic). If you were a fan of “build an empire” games, Impressions was really one of the kings of the 90s.

Your kids are confused but you don't know what to tell them because even to you, it doesn't make sense why any government would do this to their own people. Westwood was such an amazing game studio. One of their timeless classics is Eye of the Beholder 2, which was released in 1991. The intro alone gave me nerd chills - anyone who ever played Dungeons & Dragons would remember Khelben Blackstaff, and if he considers you his friend, what an honour! The game itself is your typical dungeon crawler. I don't mean that in a disrespectful way but appreciating it for what it was and is, a great game of its genre. Excellent graphics (I am such a sucker for that 90s pixel style), good sound effects and music, and an easy to use interface, making the real-time fights fast paced but manageable. Among the greats of Bard's Tale, Might and Magic, Ultima, and Wizardry, the likes of Eye of the Beholder or Lands of Lore were probably a tier below, but I always loved coming back to them. To me, this game is emblematic of the early 90s, and for that I love it.

You are using Docker wrong. I promise! Here are the two things you are missing out: • Your Dockerfiles are using a single stage. This is very slow. • You aren't caching steps as much as you could. This is also slow. For a couple of years now, Docker has been using BuildKit as its primary engine, which has added support for multi-stage Dockerfiles. Here's the deal: A single-stage Dockerfile (the one you are likely using) forces every step to depend on the previous one. That means: • Everything runs sequentially • The generated image is huge • Any change will skip cached layers • No opportunities to parallelize steps Changing one line early in the Dockerfile renders everything after it useless. There's a better way: Start using multi-stage builds. I recorded the attached video to illustrate a comparison between a slow, single-stage build and a fast, multi-stage build. Here is what you need to do: Split your Dockerfile into independent stages using multiple FROM statements. BuildKit will turn those stages into a dependency graph and run independent stages in parallel. There are several benefits to this: 1. The build process will be way faster. Parallelizing independent stages will save a massive amount of time. 2. You'll get way better caching. Each stage has its own set of layers. If something changes in your build stage, your final stage doesn't get invalidated. get clean final images. You don't need to ship tooling, compilers, or temporary files. You'll only copy to the final image what you need. This has been a massive upgrade to the way I structure my Dockerfiles.

Beta Blocker just got a big update on Windows and Android. Buckle in 🐾 🎨 New Censor Styles Windows gets a full new lineup of effects: Static, Glitch, RGB Shift, Terminal and lot's more. Android gets also gets most of them too! 🎭 Preset Styles Windows now has themed preset styles, letting you swap between complete censor looks instantly instead of tuning every setting by hand. 🔄 Reverse Censor Reverse Censor is now available on Android, with a new Reverse Strength slider to choose your strength. There’s also a setup popup when enabling it, plus stronger One App coverage through Android Accessibility. On Windows, Reverse Censor is now more consistent across live mode, exports, recording, and virtual cam. 🎯 Per-Detection Overrides Windows now supports per-detection customization, so different detections can have their own style, text, and image instead of all sharing one global setup. 🧹 Fixes & Polish Fixed heavy cursor flickering during active blocking, improved performance for animated effects and larger boxes, and cleaned up several parts of the UI. This update also brings better language access, smoother scrolling, cleaner style controls, updated Android device targeting, support for the new Android settings in packs, cleaner overlay behaviour, and a smoother install/update experience. Android gets also gets most of them too! 🎭 Preset Styles Windows now has themed preset styles, letting you swap between complete censor looks instantly instead of tuning every setting by hand. 🔄 Reverse Censor Reverse Censor is now available on Android, with a new Reverse Strength slider to choose your strength. There’s also a setup popup when enabling it, plus stronger One App coverage through Android Accessibility. On Windows, Reverse Censor is now more consistent across live mode, exports, recording, and virtual cam. 🎯 Per-Detection Overrides Windows now supports per-detection customization, so different detections can have their own style, text, and image instead of all sharing one global setup. 🧹 Fixes & Polish Fixed heavy cursor flickering during active blocking, improved performance for animated effects and larger boxes, and cleaned up several parts of the UI. This update also brings better language access, smoother scrolling, cleaner style controls, updated Android device targeting, support for the new Android settings in packs, cleaner overlay behaviour, and a smoother install/update experience. CapCut Design Studio changed the way I think about creating with AI. For a long time, creating with AI felt less like creating and more like managing files—generate, export, switch tools, edit, re-upload, repeat. The ideas were flowing, but the workflow kept getting in the way. What's changing now isn't just image quality, it's the creative process itself. This video shows how I used CapCut Design Studio to build an autumn fashion poster from scratch. I started on the infinite canvas to explore styles, then used the pencil to easily remove unwanted elements and even swap out outfits to find the perfect look for my model. Also, I used the text editing feature to instantly translate my poster into multiple languages without losing the original aesthetic. If I ever need more options, the 'One More' feature automatically creates multiple creative variations with one click. Instead of switching between multiple tools, I was able to keep the entire creative process connected in one place. AI design is moving from "generate and download" to "create, refine, and scale"—and that's the shift I'm most excited about.
