Design Engineering Tip: Add friction at the end of a scroll interaction. When users reach the edge of a scrollable area, the movement should not just stop instantly. A subtle resistance, bounce, or slowdown can make the interface feel more physical and less mechanical. It helps users understand that they reached a boundary without needing extra labels or visual indicators. Used carefully, this can make scrolling feel more natural and closer to how objects behave in the real world.

004/100 Buttons. A bit of the process on building an animation. When looking at a finished animation or in this example a finished button, it can look quite complex inside the CSS. But when building it, it’s more like a lot of simple steps, one after another. Here I had the idea to make some kind of text animation like the footer logo on the Osmo site. I try to add the base animation with no complex easing, for example transition: translate 0.4s ease. Starting with just moving the one text from bottom to top and the other text to top. Adding a stagger, play around with it. Searching for a way to make it more circular. On the research I found the sin() function inside CSS which can build a more smooth non linear curve for the stagger which creates this circular effect. And step by step adding more complexity like, different easing for hover/hover-out, opacity, 3D transform and more. I use also the sin() function to rotate the letters, so the middle ones are getting more rotated than the outer ones. Another thing which helps is to add a small delay on hover, for example 0.05s or 0.1s, you don’t really see the difference, but when you hover pretty fast on and out it doesn’t get that jumpy. I’m using here GSAP’s SplitText to split every char into spans. And then I’m adding a CSS index variable to every span, starting from the center. SplitText can provide CSS index variables, but you cannot tell it from which direction. For the sin() it’s also important to have a max length, so I add another CSS variable with the max char number on it. Crafting 100 Buttons with Osmo ⏳ Total time: 63h

By using a quasi-bilateral stance (staggered), we can emphasize glute far more, due to the lower starting torso position and thus a deeper hip angle. It makes the movement a little more challenging for the trunk also, and I prefer a rear heel elevated stance to further emphasize the lead leg. The benefit is more forceful unilateral work— the same reason I like hand-supported work. I usually program this in conjunction with the bilateral stance trap bar and staggered Zerchers and RDLs.”

Big moment for Postgres! Search has always been Postgres' weak spot, and everyone just accepted it. If you needed a real relevance-ranked keyword search, the default answer was to spin up Elasticsearch or add Algolia and deal with the data sync headaches forever. The problem isn't that Postgres can't do text search. It can. But the built-in `ts_rank` function uses a basic term frequency algorithm that doesn't come close to what modern search engines deliver. So teams end up: - Running a separate Elasticsearch cluster just for search - Building sync pipelines that inevitably drift out of consistency - Paying for managed search services that charge per query - Accepting mediocre search relevance because "good enough" ships faster But this is actually a solvable problem. You can realistically bring industry-standard search ranking directly into Postgres, which eliminates the need for external infra entirely. This exact solution is now available with the newly open-sourced pg_textsearch by Tiger Data - Creators of TimescaleDB, a Postgres extension that brings true BM25 relevance ranking into the database. BM25 is the algorithm behind Elasticsearch, Lucene, and most modern search engines. Now it runs natively in Postgres. Here's what pg_textsearch enables: - True BM25 ranking with configurable parameters (the same algorithm powering production search systems) - Simple SQL syntax: `ORDER BY content 'search terms'` - Works with Postgres text search configurations for multiple languages - Pairs naturally with pgvector for hybrid keyword + semantic search That last point matters a lot for RAG apps. The video below shows this in action, and I worked with the team to put this together. You can now do hybrid retrieval (combining keyword matching with vector similarity) in a single database, without stitching together multiple systems. The syntax is clean enough that you can add relevance-ranked search to existing queries in minutes. pg_textsearch is fully open-source under the PostgreSQL license. Did you know? This mission was born in a bar and it was sketched on a cocktail napkin Two scientists and a Lockheed engineer sat in a Tucson bar, not far from University of Arizona campus. Their idea was rejected by NASA, TWICE for being impractical and too expensive. The spacecraft touched the asteroid surface for only "5 seconds" and collected more than enough samples using a device called, TAGSAM (Touch-and-Go Sample Acquisition Mechanism) which is an engineering marvel. This is huge if you’re building plugins on top of Claude Code’s marketplace layer (Skills, Agents, Hooks, etc). How it works: - Run /plugin - The official Claude marketplace is installed by default - Use the search bar to find the plugin you want - Select one or multiple plugins with space, then press i to install - Go to the Installed tab to browse and enable them With the exponential growth of Skills and Agent-based components running in the CLI, improving plugin discoverability is a big win. Pretty sure more marketplace-related features are coming

North Patrol Deputies conducted a vehicle stop and the car took FOREVER to actually pull over (Clue #1)… it finally stopped inside an apartment complex where the driver tried, unsuccessfully, to get away (Clue #2). While detaining the driver, he threw his keys to what later turned out to be his girlfriend and told her to run (Clue #INFINITY). A search of the vehicle revealed a loaded handgun, multiple loaded magazines, and a large quantity of marijuana products. A search warrant was executed at the driver’s residence which produced 2 rifles, 1 short-barreled rifle, and 7 additional handguns (two of which were modified with full-auto “switches”). Two of the handguns were also stolen. There was also oodles of marijuana, vape pens, wax cartridges, additional marijuana/sales contraband, psilocybin mushrooms, and over $24,000 in cash.
