Hearing on Constitutional Amendment Bill Number 3 ended prematurely at Kwekwe Theatre in Kwekwe after Melody Chingarande, the only person who opposed the Bill was booed and kicked out of the venue. Barely 5 days after receiving a US$150 000 letter of demand for disrupting a book launch, Mutanho and at least 12 party accomplices today had a docket of public violence opened against them by Job Sikhala’s biographer Munyaradzi Savanhu. Police at Masvingo Central are now looking for the suspects whose faces are well captured on camera. Sikhala, Vurayayi Zembe and Savanhu had to see Police Commissioner General Stephen Mutamba in Harare to have the docket opened. Police in Masvingo initially refused to take the case. Chiredzi Central Citizen Coalition for Change (CCC) MP Ropafadzo Makumire was this morning stopped by Police from hosting elderly people at Tshovani Stadium for his 33rd birthday. He was told to take the guests to his house if he wished to continue with the programme. He however, reminded ZRP that the old people they barred from using the stadium are the same people who built it. The two senior security officers drove to Cheza's farm using unmarked new Ford Rangers which Government is splashing on senior civil servants, musicians and Zanu PF officials. The matter was reported at Mvuma Police Station under RRB 5909845. The officers' action is in contempt of a court case of the same matter which is before a judge at the High Court in Masvingo. Monica Mukwada, a former councillor and MP had the mic snatched from her by Zanu PF hooligans as she made her presentation at a Public Hearing on Constitutional Amendment Number 3 Bill in Mutare today. She had to be escorted out of the hall after the presentation due to threats of violence. She however, withered the storm as the hooligans booed her but still managed to make important points about the bill. She said that extending the terms of current MPs, Senators and the President is against the wishes of the people since the electorate no longer wants most of them. Further “when we sent the President, MPs and Senators to Parliament, our agreement was that they will be there until 2028. That position has not changed Mr chairman”. She said traditional leaders preside over court cases and judges cannot be politicians. She said the war was fought for one man one vote and allowing a few to vote for the President is contrary to that which thousands of Zimbabweans lost their lives for. She said that the Gender Commission must remain in place to represent women.
