I was so excited for it yet I barely used it lol. I had the side by side where the Genesis slid into it.

Thats the model 2, I have the model 1. I prefer the front loader to the model 2.

It only had like three good games though. Lunar, Vay, and Sonic CD.

I was so excited for the Sega CD, but once you had it, it got boring. But there are some great games. Lethal Enforcers with the Justifier Gun was a gem. Also the version of Streets of Rage that uses real voices for the characters is a hidden gem.

HIT THE TUBES DOGMEAT!

Had a great game called Sherlock Holmes had 3 separate mysteries on there to be solved. Fucking awesome

I can hear that startup screen with the audio muted.

Snatcher. Final Fight CD. Keio Flying Squadron. Robo Aleste. Lords of Thunder. Spider-Man vs the Kingpin. The Terminator. All gems and all have fantastic soundtracks.

It was revolutionary at the time. Only my rich friends had it

It could've had snes ports with better music and performance. Imagine Chrono Trigger and all the SNES RPGs

I still have mine. I always thought it was weird that sound was passed from the Genesis to the CD not through the expansion port, but by using a 3.5mm patch cable from the headphone jack to an input jack on the back of the CD.

My brother and I had the model that sat on the side of the Genesis with Sewer Shark. GOD we hated that fucking game. 🤣

Loved it

Would still love one of these! Very jealous of my friend who had one. Cobra Command looked awesome to my young eyes!

I hate that Sega dropped the ball by botching the Saturn release. They never recovered

I always loved them too. Tech was moving so fast in the 90s.

The Sega CD was definitely a game changer! Seeing full motion video on a console back then blew my mind too, even with the compression artifacts. 💿 Which game did you borrow from your friend? Night Trap or maybe Sonic CD?

Well,.. a friend got one, and i bought two games for the console,.. Final fight CD and Jaguar XJ-220,.. we literally melt the power supply. 2 players simultaneous was the best with those 2 games on the Sega CD.

Sega CD was basically its own console. It seems the connection between it & the Genesis was it's main bottleneck

Loved my Sega CD. Not just the games but playing CDs on it made it more than worth it. What a time

Still have mine. Some faves Sewer Shark Night Trap Terminator Dracula Unleashed Final Fight CD Prince of Persia Willy Beamish OK I'll stop otherwise I can go on

It was fun until you play sewer shark for longer than 10 minutes

I had one and enjoyed the games.

You can have grainy videos.. or you can have incredible anime graphics out of it. Lunar 2 for the sega CD is a masterpiece of 2D animation, and even the game itself looks incredible for the platform.

Comprobable?

I sold me Genesis a few years before it was released

Both Sega and Nintendo were pushing for a CD add-on. Sega actually did it and Nintendo accidentally created the PS1 and didn’t do it. 💿

I had one. Bought in the US back in Jan/93. Brought back home in Brasil, but i was.very hard to find games to buy/rent here. So the 2 games i ever played was the ones i bought it with. Prince of persia and wonder dog.

I worked in a Pizza kitchen for a year to buy the Japanese one

My neighbor had the infamous "Night Trap."

Keio flying squadron, Snatcher, Mickey mania and Eternal Champions which i think was SEGA first deepwater logo'd game? Road Avenger was dogshit though.

I didn't know about the graphic modes, did any game use it?

I remember Night Trap making a lot of noise

Glorious days ✨️ ✨️✨️
