But Warioba has held a number of high profile positions under Nyerere and other presidents - Vice President of Tanzania - Prime Minister of Tanzania - Attorney General of Tanzania - Attorney at the High Court of Tanzania Recently there was a photo op of Mzee Warioba meeting Samia Suluhu Now this interview has been released and Mzee Warioba is highly critical and concerned about the situation! He has boldly declared that the death toll of #TanzaniaMassacre is higher than that of the Kagera War with Idd Amin in 1978-1979 And he emphasized that in the Kagera War people were killed by external enemy forces but this time our own forces have killed us! It is interesting that American senators can now see the idiotic aspect of Donald Trump’s policy towards Africa, or rather his lack of any coherent African policy. Labelling South Africa as a “genocide republic” was one of the worst diplomatic mistakes the United States could have made, because bringing back South Africa into America’s sphere of influence will now take a great deal of time, money, and political capital. In a world with two competing powers, America and China, it was absurd for Trump to behave as he did. His lies about an “Afrikaner genocide” and his racist programme of fast-tracking so-called refugees from the Afrikaner community while denying refugee status to anyone with dark skin was one of the most foolish and self-defeating policies America has ever pursued. It damaged American credibility, insulted an entire continent, and played directly into the hands of rival global powers. South Africa is a country that will never collapse, and Donald Trump’s failure to understand which countries matter most on the continent shows how badly he misread Africa. He could not even figure out which states anchor regional politics and economics. That is why South Africa refused to be manipulated by his, for lack of a better word, crazy foreign policy towards South Africa and the continent. Anybody who wants to do anything serious in Africa knows that they will almost certainly have to talk to South Africa if coordination across multiple African countries is required. South Africa is the powerhouse of the continent, whether people like it or not. I am glad that these American senators have finally realised this, but it may be too late for the Trump administration. It will take another president, with a serious worldview, to invest the time and resources needed to bring South Africa back into the American sphere of influence. From Henry Kissinger to every major American Secretary of State, South Africa was always treated as strategically important. In a world full of uncertainty, it is astonishing for an American president to embarrass himself and his country by lying about a South African genocide that does not exist, and by allowing groups within his MAGA orbit to spread nonsense about Christians being killed in South Africa. It is ridiculous. It makes America look embarrassingly cheap. If a country that claims the world’s biggest military and intelligence infrastructure can put out such childish lies, then even young children will struggle to take an American president seriously, because young children know there is no genocide in South Africa. You simply cannot take America seriously under this administration. It has become a global joke, a government full of clowns and white supremacists.

This is Jacob Zuma, the former President of South Africa, whose political party, MK, has been encouraging South Africans to chase not only undocumented immigrants out of the country, but even black Africans who are legally living and working in South Africa. His campaign vehicles have been driving around KwaZulu-Natal with loudspeakers urging people to drive black Africans out of the country, regardless of whether they are in South Africa legally or not. And then, after all of that, he flew to India to meet the Gupta family, the very people accused of helping to orchestrate the industrial-scale corruption that nearly bankrupted South Africa through state capture. When they faced accountability, they ran away from South Africa, first for Dubai and then for India. Think about the contradiction. A man whose campaign encourages hostility towards fellow Africans is, at the same time, embracing foreign friends who became synonymous with one of the biggest corruption scandals in South African history. By his own admission in this video, he has made it clear that he is unhappy with the direction the country took in pursuing those implicated in state capture. Meanwhile, ordinary black South Africans are being mobilised against fellow black Africans who are living in South Africa legally, while the political battle being fought is, in reality, about power, accountability and the legacy of state capture. They are being drawn into a campaign that serves political interests rather than addressing the country’s real challenges. History should record this moment. It should record the irony of fellow Africans being turned against one another while those accused of presiding over one of the darkest chapters of corruption in South Africa seek a return to political power. I got my hands on 65 hours worth of live broadcast news coverage and special reports on the MOVE bombing which occurred 40 years ago today. I produced this piece using that archival footage. On May 13, 1985, Philadelphia police dropped a C4 explosive on the home of the MOVE family at 62nd and Osage Avenue, after 500 police fired over 10,000 rounds into the home. City officials allowed the fire to burn, killing 11 people including five children, and destroying 61 homes. Eyewitness and forensic evidence indicates that several MOVE children attempted to flee the burning home through the rear but were either shot back inside or their bullet-ridden bodies were thrown back into fire by police waiting in the alleyway. In 2021, it was revealed UPenn and Princeton had stolen the remains of several of the children and not only conducted experiments on them but also wheeled them out on gurneys at fundraising events. No one has ever been held accountable. In 2023, Mike Africa Jr. bought the house back which was originally owned by his aunt Louise James, but was seized by the City through eminent domain after the bombing.
