I prefer traveling in Third AC now , and not because of comfort, but because of safety concerns. Earlier, such harassment was mostly limited to Sleeper and General coaches, where groups of transgender individuals would often create uncomfortable situations for passengers. But now, the situation has worsened they are entering Third AC coaches as well and troubling people without hesitation. Passengers pay full fare expecting a safe and peaceful journey, not to be left dealing with harassment on their own. Tatkal ticket booking has become one of the biggest scams in India. We have the technology to send people to the Moon, but somehow our railway ticketing system can’t be fixed. I booked a Tatkal ticket when the seat was showing as available. Money was debited, but the ticket was not booked. No SMS, no clear confirmation, nothing. And the biggest question: Why did the booking fail when the seat was still showing as available? To make matters worse, the refund takes up to 7 days. What if someone has money for only one ticket? Just hopped off with Tim Stenovec & Carol Massar on Bloomberg. Lots of acronyms flying around with EIPP etc but the basic way to think about it is this is the industry’s Waymo moment. No one had any idea what those cars were when they arrived in cities, but they rolled out methodically and showed everyone they were safe/quiet/convenient/etc. Now they’re just a part of normal life. Air taxi flights will begin via eIPP later this year in a similar way (just a few, no passengers). Good chance to bring the public and cities along for the journey and build the muscle needed to operate at scale.

In Goa on March 29, what was supposed to be a fun parasailing ride suddenly turned scary when the cable snapped mid-air. For a few seconds, the person was just hanging there with no control. It could have gone very wrong, but somehow it didn’t. But this isn’t just about one incident. Adventure activities are increasing across India, but many times basic safety checks are ignored. Equipment may not be properly tested, and not every operator is fully trained. Rules do exist, but on ground, things don’t always happen the way they should. If something as basic as a cable can fail like this, how much can people really trust the safety of these activities?

I recently travelled on an APSRTC bus after a long time, and this is the pathetic situation passengers are forced to face in the rain. Hello N Chandrababu Naidu & Lokesh Nara, nobody asked for free bus services in the state But when you charge ₹1,100+ for a ticket and still provide service like this, what exactly are passengers paying for? If APSRTC cannot even provide basic safety, comfort and maintenance, then shut it down and let private players operate. They may charge more, but at least passengers deserve a service that matches the price they pay. This is unacceptable.

Some seem to believe that if the ticket is free, the seat automatically belongs to them as well.
