Wait. Everyone reads like that right? Right??

My brain when I try to read:

I do that. That's why these days it helps if you can read the book and have the audio book playing at the same time. Doesn't help entirely but helps some.

Voice 1: Reads text Voice 2: "Wait, what did we just read? Read that again." Goes back. Voice 1: Reads te-- Voice 2: "Hold on! Read that sentence again. I didn't quite get that." Voice 1: Rereads text Voice 2: "Okay, got it that time! You know this reminds me of when..." Voice 1: Still reading text.

This is how unconventional great thinkers read. We follow the streams of consciousness wherever they lead us. We are unashamed that we follow the images invoked in our mind and trample down paths that segue off the trodden path. We did not bow to the tyranny of memorization so that we cold perform like trained monkeys on tests in order to be judged worthy or unworthy by metrics that were not our own. In the end, we remember everything. But only what we truly understand is worth talking about.

Concentration is a skill that’s developed. Giving children amphetamine to concentrate is diabolical. Hitler was an avid user and would be proud.

I can’t explain how accurate this depiction is lol.

I literally have to listen to music while I read, like to keep the second voice occupied so the first voice can read in peace 🤭😅😅

This is all humans. It's just a lack of discipline.

That's if the book is boring, if the book is good it turns into a movie in my head and I don't even realize I'm reading or that I've been up all night turning pages

Isn't that how it is for everyone?

but isn't this how everyone usually reads?

This is the closest description I’ve seen of what it’s like for me to try to read a novel.

And sometimes having to go back to those 3 pages again and again because the same thing keeps happening at around the same spot 😡

I love how, when you realize you spaced thru a couple pages and back up, you remember that you remember all the stuff you thought you completely just spaced thru.

This is honestly why I listen to audiobooks! When I am actively listening to something, it's harder for my thoughts to intrude. It also frees up more mental bandwidth so my brain can more easily create images as I am listening. If I read a physical book, my brain has to process the physical words on the page, try listening to the inner voice reading it, and then try to create images, all why fighting off intrusive thoughts... no thank you 🤣 I am have been learning recently that I am more of an auditory learner!

I don't get this at all. Within a few paragraphs it stops being words and in my head it becomes a 4D movie with sound, smell and every other sensation. My eyes subconciously read and my concious brain interprets that into a interactive visual. Nothing beats reading.

I don't have adhd, and I'm able read and think aswell. For thousands of nights in a row, I'd read bedtimes stories to my kids. I was able to think and map things for work as I was reading. It wasn't really something I decided and made happen, it's just my mind would drift off and think about tomorrow's work because of the timing. If I tried to do it, I couldn't. I had to just let it happen.

@Founder_Mode_ So, which means... everyone on Earth has ADHD... nice! If everyone has ADHD, no one has it. And then, you just have found the cure!! How awesome is that! Cheers!

The second voice is taking about something completely unrelated to what I’m reading. I yield second or two to it and, the next thing you know, three pages have gone by. I go back to catch what I missed. I again failed to pay attention to the pages. I get frustrated, close the book, and begin something completely unrelated to the book or the subject the second voice was talking about

shes describing metacognition

Interesting how hard the "ADHD" misnomer has taken hold of society. The specific term ‘ADHD’ was coined in 1987. It was introduced by the American Psychiatric Association (APA) in the revised third edition of the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM-III-R), replacing the earlier term ‘Attention Deficit Disorder’ (ADD) from DSM-III (1980) to better encompass the hyperactivity aspect. Marketing of medications like Ritalin and Adderall, along with media coverage, normalized discussions and cemented the term into public awareness. Read that again: **Marketing of medications along with media coverage** cemented the term into public awareness. Have you seen any examples in the past 6 years of a profit driven narrative, pushed by the media, that was completely wrong and ended up harming millions? So what's the real story with "ADHD"? About 30% of the population carries an evolutionary strategy for **heightened focus, attention and depth of processing.** (present not just in humans btw) So how do these people get labelled as "attention deficit" when in fact they have heightened attention? Because it's profitable. That's the simple, ugly answer. The more complex answer is that until about 30 years ago, human beings hadn't identified that there is more than one perceptual strategy present in human beings. She actually breaks down how people with ADHD process visual information in a way that makes sense to me

Adhd isn't real. That's why. We all have symptoms of evolving from monkey brains. Hence why meditation is required to train and sharpen the focused mind.

No wayyyy😭😭😭😭 is this what it's called

This is gonna sound excessive, but when I wanna remember something I’m reading I will record myself reading it so I can go back and listen to what I read just in case I got distracted and thought about something else while I was reading .

That is exactly what happens when i try to read books, every single time.

Doesn't that happen to everyone? I just assumed everyone has a copilot inner dialogue vying for attention when reading... or really doing anything. It's quieted when focused on really interesting stuff b/c of alignment... the inner voice and the external are focused on the same thing. Harmony. Focus. Alignment. Flow. Just a theory.

Literally everyone, y'all ain't special 😒
