Texas has sued Houston-based De’Ai Postpartum Care Center, accusing the operation of exploiting birthright citizenship by helping Chinese nationals travel to the U.S. “for the sole purpose of giving birth.” The lawsuit alleges the scheme facilitated the births of more than 1,000 U.S.-born babies. At one of the alleged homes, a man named in the lawsuit (Lai Wan Lin-Chan) answered the door wearing a “Make America Cowboy Again” shirt, refused to answer questions, and said he needed a lawyer before shutting the door.
