@The_Grumbler Some of it, yes. The ECB have damaged the sport by hiding it.

@legsidelizzy Lovely idea, but where do you think the money comes from? I can tell you it’s not from BBC, ITV, C4 or C5. Once it’s goes to to free to air all our best players will give up red ball cricket and just play franchise cricket around the world.

Wimbledon is on fta yet tennis playing numbers are dropping. Playing numbers have dropped across all sports, whether always on fta (rugby tennis athletics) or rarely (badminton hockey swim) - and since the early 90s. Theres little link between kids taking up a sport and fta.

I got into cricket 2004 when it was on channel 4 and then absolutely obsessed with it in 2005 Ashes. I never had Sky Sports until I was 30. You can’t grow a stereotypically middle/upper class game by having it on pay subscription TV. The Hundred will do some bits, but not enough

Yes, because we’re producing #Wimbledon champions by the bucket load, AND WE’VE not recently (since 2010) won 3 World Cups in #Cricket , been to another final, and to 2 semi finals, and since & including the 2005 Ashes the results are thus: England 5 Australia 4 draw 2 Next…

@tuckb85 @AnnieChave I've read that cricket participation has dropped from 1m in early 2000s to 200, 000 in modern times.... no coincidence that Sky Sports purchased the rights in 2006?

The ECB has so much to answer for. The guardians of the game are the ones guilty of killing the game it’s supposed to protect. The game is being run by people who know nothing of the game. No protection or help for brands or brand owners (I am one) despite multiple challenges…..

Well said, Marina!

@The_Grumbler No chance, they’re in together hand in hand. The 16.4 losses aren’t going to get paid on free to air.

Get involved you two. #Cricket #FreetoAir
