Should nuclear power be on the table as a potential energy source? Founder of Nuclear for Australia Will Shackel and our panel discuss the pros and cons. #QandA #BTNHigh

Oh dear. Someone needs to tell Aud that all energy generation requires mining and actually nuclear is still the less intensive option. It’s worrying that these activists think solar panels are made of sunshine. They require a lot of mining - for polysilicon, lithium, etc.

You need 1000 times the mining to produce the same amount of energy from renewable compared to nuclear. Nuclear is cleaner and requires less mining.

Her main problem is that nuclear energy requires mining? Where does she think all those batteries, solar panels and wind turbines come from? The best time to build nuclear was 10 years ago, the second best is now.

This kid is getting way to much exposure. His ideas have been rejected many times already.

Nuclear energy wasn’t even a topic for 20 of past 26 years with LNP in power. LNP only pretend to be interested now. Only putting it on the agenda now, as something to argue about against Labor. It’s a straw man issue - LNP would still be not interested if it was their call.

So you take a decade to decide where to put it, then a decade to build it. Meanwhile renewables go ahead in leaps and bounds turning your two decade build into a colossal white elephant. It’s almost like the weather events in the northern hemisphere aren’t even happening.

This young man, won that debate, intelligence, articulate and well mannered. The second girl forgets that renewables also require mining 🤦🏻♀️ The 3rd girl, why was she there? Please don’t tokenise Aboriginals it’s insulting

Surely #qanda could have found a panelist able to present key arguments against nuclear energy with a modicum of competence? There are compelling economic and safety arguments against it. The way ABC's promo is constructed is like an advert for nuclear power! Shameful! #auspol

“Indigenous groups oppose it (mining)” yea, that is until they get their cheque banked. It’s not their land any more.

No, he’s not an expert, he is a passionate person who is on the opposite side of every professional in the Australian energy market. Why is this the first post show tweet? It was a well argued point, but it was factually incorrect.
