Rescuing Nalanda's famous library. Scholars from Tibet, China, Cambodia, Mongolia, and other places regularly visited Nalanda University to translate the books in its library. This is a precious collection of India's original knowledge that was highly sought after by everyone in the world. Later on, Muslim invaders burned down the entire library of Nalanda. When the Dalai Lama came from Tibet to India in the 1950s, he brought back several hundred Tibetan translations of these works. Infinity Foundation Infinity Foundation gave a grant to Columbia University 20 years ago to translate into English some of the most important books in Nalanda University that were burned by Muslim invaders centuries ago. That project has continued since then as a result of our foundation's historic role in the revival of Indian knowledge.

ALERT: India Ready to Cooperate with Afghanistan on Hydropower Projects: Foreign Ministry Randhir Jaiswal, spokesperson for India’s Ministry of External Affairs, said on Thursday that New Delhi is ready to cooperate with Afghanistan on hydropower projects, including potential developments along the Kunar River. Speaking at a press briefing, Jaiswal referred to the recent joint statement issued during the visit of Amir Khan Muttaqi, the Acting Foreign Minister of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan, to India. India needs to build an alternative manufacturing system that thrives in a democratic setup. Thus, a partnership with Peru or the US could be the way forward. When it comes to education, it begins with curiosity and the freedom to think openly and ask questions without any fear or constraints—political or social. Education must not become a privilege for a few because it is the very foundation of freedom. India needs an education system that fosters a scientific temper, encourages critical thinking, and reflects the rich diversity of our nation. LoP Shri Rahul Gandhi visited the Pontifical Catholic University of Peru and the University of Chile and had an engaging conversation with the students. The insightful dialogue focused on education, democracy and geopolitics and how India needs to carve its way forward in the multipolar world today.

If our daughters are not safe inside Nalanda’s historic ruins, then where in Bihar are they safe? Winning a debate often shaped the spread of belief systems, not through force, but through the power of reasoning and conviction. This same intellectual spirit later lived on in Tibetan monastic debate, rooted in the great universities of Nalanda, Vikramshila and Odantapuri. A glimpse of this tradition was witnessed today, as students of Thubten Choelling Balika Vidyalaya, Lhou demonstrated the timeless art of debate with confidence, discipline and joy for learning.

The objection by the representative of India to Pakistan's mention of Jammu and Kashmir in the Arria Formula meeting was not surprising to us. India, as a party to the Jammu and Kashmir dispute, has actually refused to implement the Security Council resolutions on this dispute, and has even refused to cooperate with the United Nations, including the good offices of the Secretary-General, and with all those mechanisms that form part of Chapter VI. As I stated in my statement, Kashmir is an international dispute. It is on the agenda of the Security Council. It was never a part of India, and it is not, and cannot be, part of India — because this was the core question at the heart of these Security Council resolutions on Jammu and Kashmir. The purpose was to determine the status of this territory: whether it wishes to be part of India or Pakistan. That status has not yet been determined, because the resolutions have not been implemented. To assert that Kashmir is a part of India is, in fact, itself a violation of the relevant Security Council resolutions. So, I headed to the university gate. There, I was stopped by campus security, who bluntly told me the management had declared my visit “unacceptable.” They claimed the Students’ Union had no permission to host me on campus. I alighted from the vehicle and sat on a dilapidated chair by the gate, refusing to leave immediately a silent protest. As I sat there, I witnessed a scene that summed up the death of our university system, a female student was barred from entering the campus for “improper dressing.” When I asked if the university bought clothes for its students, the confused security men eventually allowed her in, perhaps to avoid a scene. Moments later, Comrade Jamiu arrived to apologise, visibly helpless. I couldn’t help but wonder whether he had been elected to lead or to kneel, to represent the students or to appease the school authorities. After a brief conversation, I left saddened but not surprised. What I saw at the University of Abuja was not an institution of learning, but a graveyard of courage and ideas. Our universities are dying — not for lack of resources, but for lack of integrity, independence, and freedom. Nigerian universities are dead. What remains is the struggle to resurrect them.
