Everything she's saying there is a false accusation on datacenters. So let's just go one by one.” POWER: So she's saying that they eat up all of the power. Well, yeah, if you connect to the grid without producing more power and you force datacenters to compete with residential ratepayers, then yeah, you could drive up utility prices. However, if you do what Chamath said and let them build behind the meter, then they bring their own power. And that's what the president has advocated for since the beginning of his administration, is let the AI companies become power companies. So that is the way to solve the energy problem or the utility problem. LAND: Then, she's talking about eating up land. The reality is these datacenters are a model of land use efficiency. We have a ton of land in this country, obviously. NOISE POLLUTION: The supposed noise pollution, that's largely made up. That can be dealt with. You obviously don't want to put these things right next to a residential area, but create a little bit of distance, and it's fine. WATER CONSUMPTION: The whole water consumption thing is largely a hoax. Modern datacenters recirculate the water. AIR POLLUTION: One final thing just on the point that Hochul is making. She said it created a lot of pollution. Natural gas, which is how most of these data centers are powered, is one of the most clean burning sources of power that we have. “When you compare economic impact to all these different things, datacenters are honestly one of the best things we could be building as a nation.”

And we won't get into all the technology, but they are now working with hyperscalers and they are a resource for energy that will allow a data center to get ramped up quicker. Crypto and AI all boils down to power. Everything else doesn’t matter. If you don’t have the power, you’re screwed. Half the data center announcements that you’ve heard of are never gonna get built. You heard it here first. They were all announced eighteen to twenty-four months ago, and they made the assumption that they were just gonna call up their local power authority and just attach to the grid. There’s no power left on the grid. So all of these guys that announced these data centers attached to the grid are gonna get told sorry, it’s not possible. And all those turbines are going to come onto the markets, and companies like BITZERO are gonna get them because they have the contracts for sub six cents.

"If you have ambitions to be a Professor at Yale, Harvard, or one of these big institutions, the way you do that is mostly by getting funding for research. It's by getting a lot of publishing - a lot flying around the world to talk about something. You need all of these things to bolster your reputation as an international expert in this area. Now, the best way to do that, at least in psychiatry but I suspect in other areas of medicine, is actually to collaborate with pharmaceutical companies to run clinical trials. They write the publications for you - most of it, they do a lot of the grunt work, they give you the protocols, and then, essentially, they fund you and fly you around the place. I used to remember, as a junior doctor, looking up to the Professors. And they would say, 'These drugs are safe and effective. There's not a lot of problems there.' ...What I've seen more and more is that they've been compromised, and that they have incentives tied to the money and to career advancement. That means that they can't be as forthright as they ought to be about these things. And it's gotten to a problem where these are the Professors who are training the doctors who are setting the tone for what is acceptable care out there. People in Utah have started asking us an important question, when you build these power facilities for AI data centers, can some of that energy be sold back into the local grid? The answer is yes. That completely changes the conversation. Instead of being seen as “the evil data center guys,” we can help power Utah’s grid while also building critical AI infrastructure for the future. And despite the headlines, we’re not building the world’s largest data center overnight. We’re starting with just 1.5 gigawatts with 1 gigawatt of net IT load a small fraction of the long-term proposal and proving the model first. And it’s not a 40,000 acre data center. Our project a full build out will span 10-13k acres 7,500 of which will be preserved. We want the people of Box Elder County to come see it themselves, the EPA air quality standards, the water permits, the noise compliance, and how the project actually operates before anything scales further.

Adam Selipsky, former CEO of AWS from 2021-2024 and now CEO of Helix Digital Infrastructure, pushing back against the premise that hyperscalers can self-build the entirety of their required data center capacity and don't need third-party developers. Selipsky alludes to the idea that having deep connections in places like Texas is a key value-add for developers. Helix Digital Infrastructure was launched today with backing from KKR, NVIDIA, and the Kuwait Investment Authority. "The clients are the hyperscalers.. there's a misnomer that they've got all these capabilities, (and) they've been doing this for a long time and so these projects just come together and the power is there and the connectivity is there and the data centers there, and.. they just do it all in-house themselves.. I'm here to tell you that is not true. And I know that from the inside of building a $100B+ year business (AWS), which relies fundamentally on this infrastructure. There's all the old jokes about two folks in a pickup truck in Texas. And they've got a great deal. But you know, they golf with the Governor's brother-in-law. So don't worry about the permits.. And these are real stories. This actually happens. I’m the only developer of data centers on earth that graduated from environmental studies. I'm pretty aware of what these concerns are. They are around air, water use, heat, noise pollution. So sustainability is at the heart of what we do in terms of all these proposals. We search for the best technology. There's many air-cooled turbines now, so you're blending in air-cooled versus water. There's so many different ways to generate power. We can also put a percentage of the power generation through solar, wind, and batteries because the battery technology is 10X more efficient than it was just five years ago. So that's very helpful because it makes the cost of energy lower.

Sen. Husted blames his constituents for record number of data centers in Ohio: "We just have to realize we're in this world in which we've created the demand. We the people have created the demand for these data centers because we use all of these digital products that it processes, and if we don't want them, then don't use them. I mean, you can go back to the bunny ear antenna on your TV, you don't need a data center. But if you're connected to a wire, you're using the data center. So, understand, when we look in the mirror, we are the problem."
