SKIDMARKS for #CommodoreAmiga (Acid Software, 1993) Isometric racing game that was well received and successful. Written using the Blitz Basic language, which is advertised even in the game itself (at the board/best lap time at the racing end). #AmigaReposts #gamedev #isometric

Great game! I got into writing in Blitz Basic as a kid because of it

I think I got mine from a cover disk in the Amiga Format magazine.

how the h*ck can something written in a Basic language run so smooth with such perfect physics

It's compiled Basic, possibly with some direct hooks to 68K machine code here and there that helps (such as hardware scrolling or hardware sprites/multiplexing).

Many a drunken tournament of this at Uni, Prefered the sequel Super Skidmarks as you could add your own cars in Via Imagine . Great fun racing 4 starship Enterprises towing caravans

It is very similar to Ironman C64

I remember this game not only were the graphics great but the physics were spot on

Loved it and Super Skidmarks. Mailed off for the extra track disc. Caravan towing and racing cows were awesome! Even came with instructions on how to draw/make your own tracks in Deluxe Paint.

Road Kill, Skidmarks and Super Cars were ahead of theirs times.

Just somethin about Acid Software. Especially what it does to hair.

This is the online version, extremely addictive with it running amazing on a mobile.

Really cool game

Ah I remember this well - I was about 14 and coding in Blitz too, but I didn't make anything as slick as this. (And had no idea this game was written in Blitz) AGK (which my games are written in) is very much the same idea as Blitz Basic...

Kinda looks like Ivan Stewart’s OFF ROAD arcade game.

This game is amazing, one of a kind.

I remember being with my mate when he went to buy this asking the guy behind the counter hey have you got skid marks? Guy replied that’s a bit personal innit ? 😃

I miss racing games like this. Off road, RPM racing, rock n roll racing.

Play the official rebirth of skidmarks

I remember being really impressed that the cars left tire marks behind.

aaah... I used Blitz Basic long time ago.

It reminds me of Racing Gears Advance which I love but with a higher resolution giving you a bit more room to see and react.

Looks like a precursor to Rock n' roll racing.

It's smoother than Rock n' Roll Racing, more physics-based. But Rock n' Roll Racing was very popular in my country 🇧🇷 (Super Nintendo version), and the soundtrack was amazing.🎶

these kind of games were awesome. anything similar on switch?

Amiga games like this are one of a kind and hard to get outside of emulation or a real Commodore Amiga, but you may try Blizzard Arcade Collection for Nintendo Switch (has Rock N'Roll Racing) or R.C. Pro-Am on the Nintendo Switch Online service, both games have a similar premise.

Classic that one

i played this, was a fun game

looks allot like Badlands (1989)

I loved playing this with my dad when I was around 5 years old, i also remember a version that let's you tow caravans behind your vehicle, that was incredible fun. Such a great game.

my first game on Amiga 1200😍

Thanks for reminding me of this game. I had so much fun with this one

I had super skidmarks for my A1200 it was great one of the best racers available (although I did prefer roadkill)

nice colors
