dude. i literally just got a text from a parent who gave my 9 yr old one last night at a sleep over because she couldnt sleep!!! what in the fuck! am i in a simulation

The max dose they tested melatonin with is .25mg without interfering with endocrine function. The lowest dose you see in stores is like 4mg. There needs to be a third neutraceurical pathway like in other countries I think.

All the SSRIs these docs have prescribed me fucked me up way worse than melotonin

In other words. Don’t take SSRI. Melatonin is fine.

They should be taking magnesium glycinate, not melatonin

This dude is assuming everyone is taking Ssri’s and heart medication. Melatonin is perfectly fine and can save you from a week of fkd up sleep.

Apart from possible drug interactions, melatonin is a great, pretty safe therapeutic. Of course we need to pay attention to timing of dose because it sets our circadian rhythm. It has been used as a therapeutic for sleep, an antioxidant, anti cancer and neuro regeneration.

Interesting info about melatonin in these posts:

I went crazy on melatonin like mental

To say that it "interacts" with SSRIs does not mean much, because everything interacts with everything. The question is, does it interact by increasing or decreasing power? Does it help the treatment or hinder? It's fashionable to criticize melatonin but I only see advantages

Literally STFU

That is a really fair point actually

So someone taking SSRIs and eating like garbage probably is a bad thing?

This is genuinely important and the doctor is right. Most people treat melatonin like a harmless sleep aid when it's actually a hormone that signals your brain when to sleep — not something that directly induces sleep. The prescription-only status in most countries exists for a reason. If you're on SSRIs, blood pressure meds or birth control this is especially worth taking seriously before grabbing it off a shelf.
