UX Improvement to Gemini CLI interactive shells 🧑‍💻 As of v0.18.0+ it is now much easier to tell when an interactive shell is awaiting user input by a set loading phrase letting you know so 🔃 You can press Ctrl+f in Gemini CLI to focus/interact with shell commands that require user input (git commit, nvim, npm create etc.). Previously the loading phrases would continue spinning making it seem that Gemini CLI was thinking when in reality it was awaiting input. This was the case in one of Theo - t3.gg recent videos where it seemed like Gemini CLI was working away for 55+ mins when really it wanted his input 😵‍💫 I've added the custom loading phrase, hopefully this helps!

Fr, Gemini can't even do many Basic Tasks on the S25, you have to be very specific with the Commands, and even then it can't do things compared to Google Assistant i wonder what happened to Gemini+Bixby

This hospital would not allow a woman's two support system people to be in the labor and delivery room with the pregnant mother-to-be. The hospital staff claims it was the doctor's decision, and they are not getting any other answers. What could be the reason for this, and does the doctor and hospital have that right? I've never heard of this happening, but I guess it does. Doesn’t seem right to me.

I love Hermes Agent and Gemini Live is also one of my for voice conversation, so over the weekend I built a small vibe-coding project that brings the two together called IRIS. The idea is simple: Gemini Live becomes the conversational interface, while Hermes Agent handles execution, automation, and long-running tasks behind the scenes. I can talk to Gemini naturally, and whenever something needs real work, Gemini formulates the request and hands it off to Hermes. The best part is that the conversation never stops. Gemini keeps talking with me naturally while Hermes works in the background. When Hermes finishes, Gemini proactively tells me the results are ready, switches context to the Hermes output, helps me review it, and then we return to our normal conversation. That manager/worker flow feels really good. Because I wanted the app to be as hands-free as possible, I also added a camera-based gesture layer using MediaPipe Gesture Recognizer. I can point at Hermes task cards, open details, scroll through results with my hand, and close them using gestures. Small weekend project, but I had a lot of fun building it. Also, the anti-flicker macOS app I vibe-coded yesterday ended up being incredibly useful for this project. It fixed my webcam flickering issue, so I can finally record videos properly. 🙂

What I always notice with politicians is that they can talk comprehensively as to why the ANC and MKP are not right for the country. But when it comes to the EFF, they really have no comprehensive explanation as to what is wrong with it. Hence they can't explain why they left it.

🐹: A few days ago, I went to see our members. But the members have changed a lot. Or maybe not? Were they always like that? I don't think so. 🐹: They were looking at food, saying, "Hey, this has this many calories, and this one has that many calories." Like, "Is this really a few hundred calories? Wow!" and so on. 🐹: I haven't checked calories or looked at calorie labels in years. So I thought they'd be the same. But, they were like, "Wow, this is 500 calories? This is 1,000 calories? This meal is 2,000 calories?" and so on. 🐹: But even while saying that, they still ate everything. It's not like they didn't eat while talking about it— they ate it all. But still, the fact that they did was kind of surprising. 🐹: They're doing well. And also, their mindset and health have improved. And they seem to have a lot of fun laughing together. I've visited them a few days, well, not days, but a few times. But, they really seem to be doing well and working hard.

Can I even call it a good ending? It's not bad either, since some of my favorite characters survive. I wouldn't say I entirely enjoyed this Fafner experience, the first season was harsh on me, and I hope they tone it down in the next seasons for the sake of my sanity. The message is truly beautiful, teaching about the beauty of life and death, how death is never the end but the beginning of a new, beautiful life. Still, it was really painful and left me wounded. I don't hate it, that's for sure. But how much do I like it? I can't say right now. Maybe I'll have my answer when I finish watching the entire story, which seems quite long, so I'll take my time with it. For now, I'll take a short break and start something more optimistic. Anyway, I don't hate anyone for recommending Fafner. It might be someone's favorite because they learned something beautiful from it, and I respect that.
