So here is the YES Network broadcast with Michael Kay, and this really isn’t a great look for Michael. You cannot talk in the sixth inning about how this should have been a hit and be surprised that an error was posted, and then get mad when this was...

Politely disagree. If there had not been a no-hitter in progress, he almost certainly rules that a hit initially (eye test was obvious Simpson was beating Fried to bag). The argument Kay is making is that the situation is not in a vacuum. You are looking at this solely from a technical standpoint, while the game exists as an entertainment platform. The scoring mistake impacted how the game was consumed, how the Yankees deployed their pitchers, etc. The way in which it was changed- simply posting an “H” surreptitiously while everyone in the ballpark was on edge anticipating a potential no-hitter, was compounding the initial mistake. I believe the correct view of the situation is that the scorer made an obvious mistake under pressure, realized said mistake was about to get intensely scrutinized, and fixed the mistake in the most awkward way it could be fixed. You could argue nobody is to blame (other than not having immediate conviction to make the obvious correct call), but I could not disagree more that Kay and Frazier look bad here. They’re justly reacting to a mistake that changed the complete perception of the game from the outside.

@YESNetwork I don’t want to speak for MK, but I think his point was that it should have been done sooner. If it was obvious as the OS noted, why wait two innings?

@YESNetwork That was a routine ground ball to first. I don’t care who’s running, that’s an error all day

@YESNetwork 3 innings for a “very apparent” hit, you change how the game is played because you suck at your job

@YESNetwork I have no problem with Michael. He’s a passionate guy for his Yankees…nothing wrong with that.

soobin & taehyun talking about them getting hit as trainees as a form of punishment for not dancing well 🐿️🐱💬wow i was really scared when we were practicing for this 🐰 taehyun said that it was really scary practicing for this song and it was really scary!!! 🐰 this was when me and taehyun had just been dancing for a week or two 🐰 we were both extremely young kids, 8th and 10th graders who couldn’t even stretch our arms out properly…the seventeen hyungs do really hard choreographies, right? and they suddenly asked us to dance to this song and it’s not even like the teacher taught us the choreography, they told us to learn it ourselves by watching the video so me and taehyun watched the video at 0.5x to learn the choreography and it seemed reallllly tough so it was a given that we wouldn’t be able to dance well to it 🐿️🐱💬 but thanks to the hyungs with us, i got hit a little less 🐰 (sighs) taehyun ended up saying it but we did get hit back then…we got hit while we learnt it… 🐰 (sighs) we…me and taehyun got hit a little less…we were really bad but there were a few people who were worse than us so… 🐿️🐱💬 ah ah those of you who want to become trainees~~ they don’t hit people these days~~ they’ll get in big trouble if they hit people~~ 🐰 that’s right, they don’t do physical punishments these days 🐰 they had physical punishments back then but if they physically punish someone now, they’d get in huge trouble

Quentin Tarantino recounts a dinner with Robert De Niro during the making of Jackie Brown, where he asked him whether he understood when he landed the role of Vito in The Godfather Part II, that it would change his life. De Niro’s answer revealed a great deal about his mindset at the time. “I was working with Robert De Niro on Jackie brown, and we went out to dinner once. - When he got Vito in the Godfather Part II, that was going to be a big thing for him. He won the Oscar for it - it set him up to be a movie star. So I asked him - and I've asked this to quite a few actors when it comes to when they got the role that would end up changing their career - did he realize that the moment when he got the role, that it would have this sort of effect? And he goes oh, “I tried not to let it do that. I tried not to think about that” I go, "really? and why did you try not to think about that?" “Well because I’ve seen it happen and then go the other way” And then he used an example. “There was this guy, he was a young actor, and he was part of our crowd in New York. He'd been doing okay, but we were all in the same boat. Then all of a sudden he got a lead role. He's one of the two leads in a brand new movie by a director who had just done a smash hit.” And he's talking about Larry Pierce (the director) and uh... Goodbye Columbus. ”And he started dining out on it. And all of a sudden I go to the places that we used to go to, and now he's there and everyone's kind of revolving around him. He's kind of holding court. He's not doing anything bad; he's just arisen in the way that none of us have - and we're all treating him different. Then the movie comes out; nobody likes it - The movie comes out, and it goes away, and he's exactly in the same place he was. And I just wanted to make sure that that would never happen to me because I watched it happen to him.” Quote from Video Archives Podcast, sourced from James Whale Bake Sale YouTube channel.
