Yes, the narrative is convenient & some instances look far-fetched.. but they're easily overlooked as the movie takes you on a NEVER-WITNESSED-BEFORE roller-coaster...

This has all been shared ad nauseam, but here’s my two cents. Yes, I think they were probably disappointed with their seats. Not that it wasn’t the front row, as we all know those are terrible seats for a movie, but still, they look hugely out of place. I’m sure they were hoping something a bit more benefiting their perceived sense of self-importance. But it’s Harry that gets me here. In the picture, which granted is just a moment, you can feel the misery and the brokenness. He does not look like a happy man. Sure, he fakes it for the cameras, but not everything is happy behind the scenes. It’s hard to know for sure, of course, but there’s a sadness that can be felt looking at him.

What the hell does Quant actually do? A model is trained in BF16, released in Q8, and we use Q4 because we're told 'its nearly lossless'. Fine, but I was curious about the 'nearly' part, what is actually being lost between BF16 all the way down to Q2? As always, its complicated. Needed a way to visualize the loss, so I had a Qwen 3.8 27B BF16 create a paragraph then had every quant below it do the same and marked the mutations. When a model writes a word, it assigns 'how sure' percentage to each. For example, 'The weather tomorrow is *windy*, a model is 90% sure all the words are correct except the windy part, since it can also be sunny, cold, hot, cloudy, etc. Any words a BF16 model was 90% sure of, every quant down to Q2 rarely changes it. On the other hand, any word that it was only 40~50% sure of, such as windy in our example, are the types of data that gets impacted by the quant process. Okay so what, some words changed, how does this impact anything? I set out to find out, and its all below if you are just as weird as I am about these things.

Well, I think money is definitely a big factor, along with the reality that a large portion of that money will also be donated to the IDF... the Immune Deficiency Foundation. On top of needing it for her treatments, I think at some point that money will also someday lead to discoveries for better therapeutics. More eyes, more funding in the future, a possible cure someday. But some of the other stated reasons are just kinda sad. One of the stated reasons for her starting streaming is because she was deathly lonely. She has done some pretty shitting things throughout her career as a VTuber and screwed over a lot of people. People aren't purely good or evil, but for someone like her, the contrast is created through sheer desperation. Will I ever be a "fan" again? Probably not. Not that I was much of one, but I did have more favorable opinions of her in the past. But that doesn't mean that I hate her or that I wish the worst for her. There is not a muscle on the body that needs high reps to see its best growth. This is basic physiology. Yes, muscles vary in their ratio of slow to fast twitch fibres. It doesn't matter, for two reasons: 1. Slow twitch fibres reach their ceiling early. They are not the limiting factor. 2. As you approach failure, every fibre is recruited regardless. The body does not leave capacity sitting idle when it thinks it's about to fail. Here is what actually drives hypertrophy: involuntary slow contractions. The point in a set where the concentric is grinding, the bar speed is dropping, and the muscle is being forced to recruit everything it has just to complete the rep. That is mechanical tension. That is the growth signal. It only exists in the final five or so reps before failure. Everything before that is your body coasting on the fibres it was already using. Some muscles tolerate high reps better than others. Calves are the classic example. But tolerating junk reps is not the same as benefiting from them. It just means the damage is less visible. One thing we are watching now is potential ERC (eyewall replacement cycle) beginning. Pressure / wind may have temporarily peaked. Some of the hurricane models have suggested multiple eyewall replacement cycles through Tuesday. For tonight, it is possible this eyewall replacement is quick then we see another dip even stronger overnight with lower pressure and even higher winds. These eyewall replacement cycles will have impacts on how the storm comes into FL Wednesday night. Eventually these should grow the eye and core with time. The current state of the Islamic Republic is quite strange. From a social restrictions perspective, it is utterly incomparable to when I was young or even 5 years ago. This goes far beyond people choosing to mass defy hijab laws - the restrictions against things like mixed dancing, concerts, music festivals, rave like atmospheres, drinking, recreational drugs, and all sorts of out of marriage sexual relationships are dissolved to a unrecognizable very low bar compared to the past. No it's not Turkey or Dubai (yet) and yes people still do get in trouble frequently (particularly businesses who host things - which is why you'll go to high end restaurants where everything is happening and they don't care but they'll immediately stop you if you take a picture out of fear it will go viral). But the cat is out of the bag. In every corner of the country the rules are flagrantly defied. Not just in cute underground parties at some well connected kid's house or some hippies doing drugs in a desert 3 hours from the city - no very much in the open, often advertised on social media, and not hidden at all (both videos are from the last month - the second video is in Shiraz). This was unthinkable just a few years ago. On the other hand the political atmosphere is currently closed at a level I don't remember other than the first few months after the 2009 election. It resembles the Islamic Republic of the late 80s more than what we've seen for most of my life. And from an international relations perspective all caution & restraint are gone and you see the most extremist elements (who ironically were kept in check by the older Khamenei who mistrusted them just as much as he mistrusted liberals) increasingly running the show, eagerly acting in a way that I struggle to describe in anyway other than delusional insanity. The economy is shattered to a level in which even the upper middle class are struggling to make ends meet, let alone the poor who are living through unthinkable conditions. This is a very different Islamic Republic from the "normal" baseline my generation is used to. Quality of life continues to nosedive at a horrendous level. Uncertainty is everywhere. External attacks are no longer a fear but a near daily reality. It is increasingly unclear who (if anyone) is in charge and what direction they are trying to steer the country in. The current situation might last for a bit as a transition state, but it is very difficult to imagine something this unstable, with so many contradictions, and this reckless, being durable. At some point very soon something will have to give. It can't last forever like this.

Another example of Tesla Self driving better than humans. I’m following this Legacy SUV in my Cybertruck on FSD 14.2.2.1 and we feel the brakes and are like what’s going on. Then see a deer ahead in front of SUV run past road. Deer makes it across but what is funny but not funny the SUV doesn’t even tap brakes. Don’t even look liked they slowed down. You can see us slowing down behind SUV after deer crosses. This is all done by FSD. I did nothing. People often ask me if I trust FSD. I always say yes. More than humans for sure. This will forever change how power users switch apps on MacOS MacOS is full of animations. Switching to an app means repeatedly using cmd + tab or using power tools to assign a hotkey to the app. Even if you are using the hyperkey on Raycast to open apps, you will still be faced with the animations if the app is on different desktop. I've completely solved this pain point in the latest release of SuperCmd Here's what's done 1. Completely eliminated the animation, the hotkey will instantly switch to the instance of that app, even if it's on a different desktop 2. If there are multiple instances of the same app, e.g., 4 cursor projects, it will cycle through all the open windows of that app. (even VSCode / cursor supports cycling through windows only on the current desktop) I've long wanted to solve this issue for myself, and it has been the biggest bottleneck in my productivity. I see this as a huge win for power users, specially ADHD bois! SuperCmd 1.0.7 is out, but I wanted to dedicate a post to this specific feature first. I've completely solved this pain point in the latest release of SuperCmd Here's what's done 1. Completely eliminated the animation, the hotkey will instantly switch to the instance of that app, even if it's on a different desktop 2. If there are multiple instances of the same app, e.g., 4 cursor projects, it will cycle through all the open windows of that app. (even VSCode / cursor supports cycling through windows only on the current desktop) I've long wanted to solve this issue for myself, and it has been the biggest bottleneck in my productivity. I see this as a huge win for power users, specially ADHD bois! SuperCmd 1.0.7 is out, but I wanted to dedicate a post to this specific feature first. What about labor?!?! The biggest pushback we get on timber framing is "my labor tho!" Yes, timber framing takes time. Yes, it takes a little more skill than stick framing. (This feels unfair to say because there are some spectacular modern carpenters out there, but. But your basic build quality is fairly low, on average.) A friend is about to raise his 12x16 timber frame cabin (it will be used as a workshop) after working nights and weekends for a year+ That time would have passed, anyway. Wild elephant calves are milk-dependent for the first four years or so, and many will suckle from their mums for as long as they're permitted – often until a younger sibling arrives. A wild mum's milk also changes in composition as her calf grows. Our bottle-fed orphans follow a similar timeline. I look at all markets. Sectors, asset classes, bonds, metals, energy, and sentiment. Why? Because there is a finite amount of liquidity in the system, and it all has to go somewhere. The main driver is fundamentals, but every now and then, macro comes into play. We have literally gone straight up for the last 6 weeks. Sure, it might be time for a pullback, but it was also time 2 weeks ago. However, let’s not kid ourselves, the last 6 weeks have been the most outstanding performance of my our career. You can never sell the top, and you’ll never catch the bottom consistently. My best ideas have done VERY well YTD and have had breakneck rallies in the last 6 weeks. No, I didn’t go all in on software. I also didn’t go all in on oil stocks at the worst time possible or FOMO into $NBIS or $MRVL today. I have been looking hard at leading themes every day. No breaks. That is exactly what I do. And I love it. I learn every day from everyone. There are so many people to thank, but the job is not over. The job is never done. Keep going.
