So not only are we building File Pilot as a solid File Explorer alternative, we might actually be nudging improvements to it as well! That's a win either way.

You should renew that certificate I was trying to check if it's gotten any updates since last I checked

It's already renewed, must've caught it right as it expired. Should be working now.

It's still messed up for me right now, weird

@vkrajacic Same here

@EnbyBell Should be fixed now.

Hi! Can you please force Apple to upgrade finder from complete shit show to usable next? Asking for a friend👉👈

File Pilot will get there, don't worry. I recently purchased a Mac mini to do a bit of exploration.

This guy either knows something or he is completely a moron 💀 who would buy a "file explorer". "Access to VIP channel" 💀💀💀💀

These are site licenses intended for businesses. They're per employee (10x), and each employee can install it on as many machines as they need. Pro is more expensive because it includes lifetime updates. Priority support (VIP) is just a bonus perk. Check the pricing FAQ.

Now the question becomes. Should you stop the free beta in order to make more money? I suspect that they will not be capable of improving things so you need not worry.

Beta ends when the features planned for version 1 on the roadmap are covered, hopefully in the next few months.

Right now, Deep in a lab at Microsoft

Create software you made there 🫡

Congrats! What do you think the chances are that they out-perform FP?

I don't think it's that hard to match FP's indexing performance (at least it shouldn't be for a company with as many resources as Microsoft). But there are other parts, like a responsive UI, that tie it all together into a nice, cohesive program. And that requires careful architecture behind the scenes, from memory and threading to string processing etc. Not sure how deep they'll go. Also worth mentioning is that they have to maintain backward compatibility, while I don't, for the most part.

ive just found out about this app because of this post, and man how have i been living without this, this should just be adopted as the default on windows

The power of good ole C code

Deep inside the Microsoft the CEO be shouting like: “Vjekoslav was able to build THIS in a CAVE! With a box of SCRAPS! Make it FAST NOW!”

Nice! Your work is awesome!

Hey just wanna notice to you that on systems without gpu, filepilpot is terrible, with >1s render delay and like 15fps scrolling while file explorer handles this perfectly fine. Also when browsing folders, dont clear the file view *until* you got the new list -> flicker

Is this VM? Can you give me your specs?

Yeah its a VM OS: Build 29574 (same perf on 26100) CPU: 16x 5950x 32GB Ram Graphics SW Rasterized with d3dwarp (Can handle 3D games and scenes, browsers etc just fine)

Next version brings support for Direct3D which has proper simulation layer for this.

tested it and it is a lot better! there is still *some latency but its usable :)

If you retire one day and decide to create a course on writing fast software, I will buy it.

Would it be possible for the Inspector to support displaying images with their correct rotation? Loving File Pilot btw

Yes, coming with the next version.

Incredible! Thank you! I just wish I could use FilePilot at work now 😅

It's weird that it took a 3rd party File Explorer to make them change the current.

File Pilot is awesome.

I hope you get paid well for your efforts though.

I'd like more proper Norton/Win...TotalCommander tool instead of that.

Build one.

How is it so fast?

Probably would be way easier for them to just license FilePilot than trying to recreate the magic.

Whens other languages support?

It is something mentioned from Windows Central which is a very untrustworthy publication. Something like Lunduke for windows.
They should just ship FP as a replacement 😅

Truly amazing software! My suggestion: Sticky Sorting: The app should remember and automatically apply the last used sort method (e.g., Date or Name) upon relaunch. Persistent Priority: Allow the 'Folders First' (or Files First) preference to be saved so it doesnt reset.

Check the lock icon in the header.

@spacedriveapp works good enough for me.

@spacedriveapp Last public version I tried behaved worse on Windows than file explorer. Not sure if they've updated it since.

Drag and drop actions needs improvement. As an example I can't drop files to folders using filezilla. Other than that Im having a blast using FilePilot. Amazing tool!

I tend to prefer Dolphin as a KDE user, but this looks awesome!! Any plans for a linux port?

Build a replacement for the whole explorer.exe

No sería mala idea que en los íconos pequeños se pudiese ver todo el nombre del archivo, yo más digo (todo bien por lo demas)

@KokosuSteel Yes, that's a planned feature.

One up them so they won’t ever catch up. More competition helps all consumers

Your site certificate has expired.

Can u fix utf8 in Vietnamese ?

On the roadmap.
