Some magical progress towards "magic state" in quantum! Our Google Quantum AI team has demonstrated "magic state cultivation" on physical hardware for the first time. The result is a 40x error reduction on our Willow processor vs. previous methods, achieving a state-of-the-art 99.99% logical fidelity. It's another step towards... show more

@GoogleQuantumAI Very impressive! ⚛️

@GoogleQuantumAI solana:6n48buQMwU47stjQr4Hiw59aRiDHXkXgi5ybDmqbuePS next Quantum cat?

@GoogleQuantumAI That state is

@GoogleQuantumAI “Magic State” sounds very scientific

@GoogleQuantumAI without magic states you're stuck with Clifford gates, and a classical computer can simulate those just fine. this is the piece that makes the hardware worth building

@GoogleQuantumAI I am really looking forward to the quantum generated synthetic data to train Gemini models.

@GoogleQuantumAI Amazing progress! Great to see

@GoogleQuantumAI AI on quantum chips sounds fun 🤭🤭🥰🥰✨✨ When are we getting there ? 🤭✨✨

@GoogleQuantumAI Nice

@GoogleQuantumAI Imagine quantum orbit compute 🚀

@GoogleQuantumAI is 40x measured against the standard distillation approach or against an earlier run on the same hardware?

@GoogleQuantumAI We are getting closer to practical quantum computing, one bottleneck at a time. Fascinating times!🤘

@GoogleQuantumAI Great progress

@GoogleQuantumAI they’re inventing magic states and i can’t even get my code to run 😭

@GoogleQuantumAI You know, I like you Sundar.

@GoogleQuantumAI Magic with an error rate I can get behind

@GoogleQuantumAI Logical fidelity is encouraging, but scalable error correction and useful workloads remain the real milestones

@GoogleQuantumAI magic state cultivation sounds like a hogwarts elective. still, 40x error reduction on physical hardware is legitimately impressive.

@GoogleQuantumAI Yes we love quantum!

@GoogleQuantumAI very cool

40x lower error than previous methods, on real Willow hardware and not just in simulation, is the part that matters. Magic states are the expensive ingredient for fault-tolerant gates, so cheaper ones shrink the whole qubit bill. When do you expect cultivation to run inside a real logical algorithm, not just as a standalone demo?

@GoogleQuantumAI Admirable progreso👌

@GoogleQuantumAI Magic states were always the pricey part of error correction that nobody outside the field talks about. 40x is a big deal. Does the paper say how much this cuts the qubit count for a genuinely useful machine?

@GoogleQuantumAI A 40x error reduction and 99.99% logical fidelity on physical hardware is a huge step toward practical quantum computing. Amazing work, @GoogleQuantumAI

@GoogleQuantumAI

@GoogleQuantumAI 40x fewer errors and 99.99% fidelity on T states is a big step. The number I'd want next is the keep rate. Cultivation works by discarding flawed attempts, so how many runs got tossed to hit that? That ratio is the real cost of a T gate at scale.

@GoogleQuantumAI magic state quantum selalu bikin penasaran

@GoogleQuantumAI A 40x error reduction on physical hardware. True progress happens in the cleanroom, quietly turning quantum theory into industrial reality.
