Some thoughts on Alvaro Albeloa

I disagree with you. He was highly thought of in the Real youth system, did well with Castilla and Fulham don't have a quarter of the egos that Madrid have. He also plays an attacking brand of football and is youth-orientated, something we need. Plus knows the best Madrid youths

Totally reasonable take! Ultimately we have to support him and hope it works, I just feel like you can't afford to take gambles in the Premier League and I feel more often than not that appointing a big name doesn't work. He has no experience of working at a club our size.

The thing with the premier league is, noone knows. Ranieri was a safe pair of hands, failed. Frank knew the prem, failed. Nuno...failed. Ireola didn't but succeeded. Glasner didn't but succeeded. Carrick didnt, but succeeded. Is there really such a thing as "a safe pair of hands"

I don't think PL experience is essential, but I do think some experience is - he only has 3/4 months at top level

Fair play, I can appreciate that sentiment. Here's hoping he can hit the ground running (and the players can adapt quickly)

@WhiteNoise1879 His coaching credentials are well known. Technical and tactical flexibility will take us to the next level. If he is supported with the right incoming players it will be a win-win.

I think this is a positive appointment tbh My pick was Glasner but i think this could pay off Hungry young coach who was a top player winning trophies Will certainly get me on side if we sign a couple of exciting Real Madrid youngsters then give chances to De Fougerelles etc

I hear you and many feel the same way as you do but just look at Iraola when he rocked up at Bournemouth from Rayo Vallecano. I know it’s not the same but Iraola had no PL experience either.

I know exactly what you mean. This is what comes of our scattergun approach to a player/coach market that’s beyond cooked. The one positive I can find is the comparison with Xabi where he went from relegation with Sociedad U21 to stomping in Germany. RM dressing room is awful too

I really like this hire, without european football we were never going to get a qualified/higher tier manager than Marco. Our only option to get better was to take a risk on someone like Albeloa. Im much more excited for him and his style of soccer than the other candidates.

"I always want to be positive" You are joking.

Managers are like the lottery....some turn out good and some don't, but no one knows really what the secret is! Arbeloa knows the prem, must have impressed enough to get asked to lead RM and surely has sole decent contacts. That's 3 boxes ticked at least!

I wouldn't say he 'impressed', they needed a caretaker until the end of the season. He's an ex player and he managed the B-team, so they gave it to him when they fired Alonso. You're right that it's a lottery, but I feel like I want more of a track record.

@JasonSinclair7 The day Arteta got the job at Arsenal, I take it you wouldn't have been happy if it was Fulham he was joining because of his lack of experience?

@JasonSinclair7 For every Arteta, there's a Patrick Veira though. I just would rather we didn't take the risk

@JasonSinclair7 F**k me , I tell you what, why don't you name one single manager that is risk free that would have been happy to join Fulham? Off you go ! And I bet you can't name one.

@JasonSinclair7 Why so aggressive?! I gave my opinion that I don't think it's a good idea. There are plenty of managers who I think would work. Thiago Motta probably would be keen, Pierre Sage would have been great.

I think with many of the clubs in our bracket in Europe & 3 weak teams coming up i think its worth the punt.

Mr Negative bad vibe

It would be nice to finally beat City!

Wow! Mr Negativity! Come on Sammy you're better than this.

@WhiteNoise1879 Unfortunately, agree with this take.

100% agree. I fear this is going to go the wrong direction. Taking a punt on a manager with little to no experience shows that the club had NO PLAN for Marco leaving.

Well the debates about ticket prices we be shorter in the championship 😳😳😳🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻anyone they hire keeps us up is all. There will be no major signings this summer so just keep us up please…

"Was this the plan?" Sammy, you and I both know there was no plan.

Why on earth would you believe TK that we had a plan

Agree with you. Rolling the dice and gambling here is not something we can afford to be doing if we want to take a next step.

@WhiteNoise1879 Mate we was going for a Ipswich manager I think that Fulham right now can’t go for anyone lower then the level we are at

Sed positivos...

Agree Sammy, suspect we're in for a 3 manager season and you generally know what that means i'm afraid.q

@WhiteNoise1879 Khan sending this club to the slaughter house. Shocking appointment.

Maybe a new vision and a long term view by Khans bode well for our club here. Proof incoming!!!

Couldn’t agree more. Think we’ll get lucky that it’s a good time to take a risk (those around with European distractions and/or new management) but god it feels uninspiring

Arteta was a gamble

Hahahahaha really? I think you should be grateful to have a great manager such as Alvaro is. You are the Fulham man, not Liverpool, or ManU or City, Fulham, man… Fulham.

Gone by xmas

Trust him, he’ll get us into Europe.

He’ll be sacked after 10 matches ..
