David Reich doesn't think population size has been a big constraint on human evolution. Why? (1) The human genome already contains more than enough diversity for natural selection - we generally don't need to worry about having a large enough population for new mutations. (2) Sometimes if selection is weak enough, it can be swamped by random genetic drift in small populations. But then it would be so weak that, even in a large population, it wouldn't make a difference on the timescales of human history. So population doesn't really matter either way.

With respect to the argument over whether Darlington was good or overhyped, I thought Mark Martin put it best before(!) the race yesterday. "My excitement for today is to see how hard it is and to witness greatness. My fear is, sometimes when you have that, it might not be as entertaining. "And I just hope that everyone embraces the race today as, hey, not every race is Atlanta, not every race is Talladega. And this is what it is. It may be an incredible finish to this race, or it may not be. We may see greatness separated by not so much greatness, I don't know. "I wouldn't want every race to be anything. LMU seriously need to fix some stuff. Two weeks ago I tweeted how LMU has best netcode in all simracing games... then they released new update changing their online format so it will be "more stable" but with some netcode issues possible (at start they said) and its so broken right now. Also huge performance issues reported in same races by multiple drivers even DNFing... cmon...this is not early access this should not be happening. Literally end of 1.2 update was the most stable and best peforming game, and since 1.3 and 1.4 everything is getting worst in terms of stability and performance... PLEASE enough...
