But it doesn't have some of the advantages of what they were doing with those metal bodies which is that you get to use it as a heat sink." "We actually do this on our drone now where the bottom plate is an aluminum plate, and we contact the motherboard and the radios with thermal interface material when we close out the drone with that bottom plate, and so that acts as a big heat sink." "It's just a flat plate that is cut into a shape in 2D versus having to be cast or CNC'd, which is just a lot cheaper for mass manufacturing."

Adobe.. has released a tool that combines Generative Gaussian Splats with a Diffusion layer and it's not all over the internet? WHAT IS GOING ON :D I had to test this out ofc! Substance 3D viewer, the new 3d viewer just released by Adobe, not only supports viewing of a large, large list of 3d formats, but it also supports generating of 3d models as Gaussian Splats. Combine that with the built-in 3d to image functionality and you basically have at least a few of the steps I've been doing for the last year or so using multiple tools. Exciting stuff! The new Photoshop Beta also supports the 3D viewer and you can import 3d files directly in photoshop as smart objects linked to the viewer. The elements you prompt in based on your models, can be easily exported to your clipboard without backgrounds making it very easy to use this in your normal image editing workflows. I have a suspicion that we'll see much more of this in other Adobe tools and I'm very curious to see this used for things like this in more 3d tools than "just" Adobe Neo (which is fantastic btw). #adobe #art #gaussiansplatting

China's drone manufacturing capability "I think today China's easily at 100 million drones a year. I mean, they're supplying most of the components to Ukraine and Russia and both sides are gonna use about 7 million FPV's this year. America is in the hundreds of thousands and there is no company that will domestically build 100,000 drones this year. Neros is trying to get close. We'll be over 100,000 run rate by the end of the year. We have to have production capacity in the millions, tens of millions for credible deterrence, but we also want to solve the problems smarter." a mutual here on x asked me how professionals design wings for aircraft and drones in cad, so I put together a quick, high-level overview of how this process is generally done, and showed how the 3d model is constructed if anyone wants a high-level or technical breakdown of anything aircraft or jet engine-related, just shoot me a dm. if I’m knowledgeable on it, I’d be happy to make a video explaining it at the level of complexity you’re comfortable with. same goes for any powder bed metal 3d printing processes, specifically dmls and electron beam sintering
