Source: YouTube Location : Bangalore - Hyderabad Highway Why we should never overtake using the road shoulder. The road shoulder should only be used for emergency stopping due to vehicle breakdowns or crashes, not for driving. #IndianRoads

Sorry DriveSmart. This is not 'shoulder'. The shoulder would be outside of the left-most solid-lane marking which signals end of road. Here, it looked like as though there was a regular lane. There should have been a merging lane signage both on the road surface and by roadside.

Yes.. they do it on bridges to avoid land acquisition issues while increasing lanes in the future. Until the extra lane is created, we need to consider it as a shoulder only. No overtaking sign board could've been kept.

Did a 3600 km road trip from Mum to Jaisalmer last Dec. One thing i refrained the most from doing was using the road shoulder. In India, its a death trap - wrong side cars, trucks, tractors, autos, sellers and restaurant exits. Stay away.

Yes.. 🖐️

One need lot of experience... throughout life . ..till autonomous driving .. So better option ...is defensive driving ...speed limit .....clear vision for over taking ....etc....

The fact that authorities didn't even bother to put up a board about a track beginning and ending says a lot

I can challenge you 95% of drivers don't know what is a road shoulder 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 he wouldn't have dared that stunt had he known about road shoulder 🤭🤭🤭🤭

As per the marking that is a lane. A shoulder lane usually have a solid line running which sets apart the usual lanes which has broken lines.

This looks like an emergency stopping area for trucks so the broken lane markings are kept and trucks can enter and exit. @RSGuy_India

Three lanes merging into two and that too on a curve. Just wow!
