I'm not okay with a broken system that lets p*dophiles walk with less than a day in jail. I'm not okay with r*pists being let out free. I'm not okay with powerful people being above the law. Every day my office gets calls from families who've lost hope: m*rder victims' families, s*xual assault survivors, people the system has failed. I'm working hard to give hope to the hopeless and a voice to the voiceless. That's why I'm running for Governor. South Carolina's justice system is broken, and I'm going to fix it. When 92.5% of pedophile cases in a single county are let go, and statewide data is withheld, predators are allowed to walk free. Unacceptable. Today I signed the letter to the Lord Chancellor opposing any early release for those convicted of manslaughter. Because if you've taken a life, there should be no early release. Not in prison. Not under a hospital order. Nowhere. It cannot stop at prison sentences. It must include offenders detained under hospital orders too. For decades, victims in the forensic mental health system have been ignored while life-changing decisions are made behind closed doors. 9 in 10 restricted patients are discharged within 10 years. These are mental health criminals like Calocane. The criminal justice system is failing victims. The forensic mental health system is failing victims. And politicians are failing victims. Now we're told prisons are full and "difficult decisions" have to be made. Rubbish… Prison overcrowding wasn't caused by victims. Court backlogs weren't caused by victims. Chronic underfunding of justice wasn't caused by victims. The department responsible for our courts, prisons, probation and public protection receives in an entire year what is spent elsewhere in government in around two weeks. That isn't a justice system failure. That's political failure. Build prisons. Clear the backlog. Fund justice properly. Reform the system. But stop asking bereaved families to accept less accountability because governments failed to do their job. Victims don't get early release from grief. Why should offenders get early release from the consequences of taking a life?

I've called for accountability from judges, prosecutors, and attorney generals for a long time. I've said it before and I'll say it again: impeach corrupt, activist judges. Now an attorney named Robert Merting in South Carolina is trying to hold me in contempt for saying so. He wants me thrown in jail for exercising my First Amendment right to call for the impeachment of public officials. This is what happens when someone demands accountability in South Carolina. There is no justice system in here - in South Carolina we have a system that protects the rich and powerful. A system that protects predators over their victims. This is outrageous and unacceptable. and the local media won't even cover it. Travis Reed Gaye faced 70 years in jail on 7 charges in South Carolina. After AG Alan Wilson's office prosecuted him, he pled guilty in November and got PROBATION. No jail time. 11 days later, he violated his probation. He was supposed to serve time. Instead? A judge let him out hours later. He STILL hasn't served his required time. After our press conference in Charleston last week, a young child came forward and filed a police report. They recognized him as the man who allegedly followed them in a park. Why the media blackout? Why are convicted pedophiles walking our streets? Since local media won't tell this story, we're entering it into the Congressional Record through Oversight Committee. South Carolina families deserve answers. Our children deserve better. South Carolina STRONG.

We spoke about the need for law reform, better support for survivors, research into the experiences and needs of children born as a result of rape, and improved training for the professionals who work with them. We also discussed the urgent need to improve the housing system to ensure survivors are safe and properly supported. The Government must also begin holding professionals to account for the negligence and corruption that has failed victims across the UK. We expect our police officers to protect us in some of South Africa's most dangerous communities in vehicles that do not even start. When a police vehicle fails, it doesn't just delay policing. This video is a great illustration for our rampant crime problem. They block the cops because they know the cops won’t run them over. Criminals commit more crime when the consequences are minimal or ‘worth the risk.’ If the cops just mowed these people down, shit like this would stop. We need harsher punishments in our justice system. Prisoners receive tablets, televisions, PlayStations, preferred treatment, healthcare, like what the fuck are we even doing here? Rapists, murderers, and violent felons deserve THE WORST circumstances imaginable. They’ve earned it. Stop coddling people that will kill you and step over your body to rob your spouse.
