@geoffreyhinton UBI is the only way forwards. Poverty will skyrocket otherwise. People need to get on board before the population collapse is due to greed

@geoffreyhinton This has been said about every technological revolution since the beginning of time - yet every advancement has created entire new workplace and industry segments that need to be maintained… and new markets. I’m not saying UBI won’t be needed, but it’s too soon to tell.

@geoffreyhinton That's not a fair argument. No tech before has ever been able to be smarter and more intelligent than any human being. That's what we will see. We will also see this AI teamed with robots that are faster, stronger and more flexible than any human being.

It needs to be explained to people that at peak adoption of advanced artificial intelligence and advanced robotics, the value of money and labor plummets to 0, and we enter a post-labor AND post-consumer economy and society. They can debate it until they’re blue in the face. But math will not lie.

@geoffreyhinton I also agree we will definitely need something like UBI. I just think that many people are currently blind in front of the upcoming revolution, thus nobody talks about it...

@geoffreyhinton So true. People just don't understand what AGI and ASI will do for society.
