🚒 Stranded driver? No problem for the crew of Engine 61! Earlier today, after finishing a call for service, they came across a broken-down vehicle. The team replaced the lack of horsepower with some firefighter power and pushed the car down the road and into a parking lot.

He then proceeds to kick the vehicle and challenge the driver to a brawl. The driver gets out for a minute and has words with the attacker before getting back into his vehicle to drive off. Today, while heading to the CBD, I came across a breakdown recovery crew and a private car driver in a heated altercation that didn’t look good. I decided to stop and understand what was happening. The driver explained that his car had stalled at a roundabout, causing traffic obstruction. The breakdown crew offered to help him push and pull the vehicle off the road to clear traffic. However, after assisting him for a short distance, they began demanding KSh 5,000, which sparked the disagreement. After listening to both sides, I informed the crew that, based on the short distance covered, the amount they were demanding was clearly exaggerated and appeared exploitative. We talked it through and eventually reached a fair agreement, where the driver chose to appreciate them reasonably for the help offered. This has become a persistent complaint some breakdown and towing operators take advantage of distressed motorists by charging excessive fees. We must protect residents from such unfair practices and encourage professionalism and fairness in service delivery.

NEW: Phoenix police officer pulls over a driverless Waymo car for driving on the wrong side of the road leading the nonexistent driver to roll the windows down to speak with the police. This is hilarious. Waymo has since released a statement, apparently blaming the incident on "inconsistent construction signage." The car "was blocked from navigating back into the correct lane" for about 30 seconds when the officer pulled it over. "In an effort to clear the intersection, the Waymo vehicle proceeded forward a short distance and pulled into the next available parking lot," the company said.
