This mission documentary follows the first recovered flight of TA-2, the result of five years of effort and dedication marking a pivotal moment in sustainable hypersonic flight test for our country. OVERNIGHT: A Frontier Airlines flight bound for Los Angeles struck and killed a pedestrian on the runway during takeoff at Denver International Airport late Friday night, causing the person to be partially ingested into one of the engines, triggering a brief engine fire. “Tower, Frontier 4345, we’re stopping on the runway. Wee just hit somebody. We have an engine fire.” All 231 passengers and crew were evacuated from the airplane. Runway 17L remains closed as the NTSB and FAA investigate the incident.

Its stated specifications include a top speed of 450 km/h, a 300 kg payload and a maximum range of 1,900 km. 🔸 Power comes from the domestically developed CS35 modular turboshaft engine, rated at 350 kW. Its modular architecture is intended to simplify maintenance and allow the engine to support multiple aircraft types. 🔸 The most important part of the test was the autonomous transition between vertical and forward flight. Flight VN34 was departing for Hanoi when the aircraft rotated very late, lifting off near the end of Runway 26L. Ground footage shows the main landing gear coming off the runway with a cloud of dust behind it. There are reports that the aircraft may have struck equipment beyond the runway, potentially damaging runway lights and possibly the aircraft itself, though the reports aren't verified yet. After takeoff, the crew stopped the climb at around 9,000 ft and entered a holding pattern near Munich, likely to assess the situation and burn fuel. Definitely not a normal takeoff, and the footage shows just how close to the end of the runway the 787 lifted off.
