"I use Whey Protein almost daily in pancakes, smoothies, and other recipes pre and post workout, going through a lot of containers per year. I’m incredibly excited that Gnarly is pushing sustainability with their new steel containers." - Kelly Halpin

Because they were never told the truth. They were told to walk, to stretch, to take it easy—as if fragility is inevitable. No one told them that strength prevents the very decline they fear. Muscle isn't just for youth. It's for balance, blood sugar control, bone density, brain health, and independence. We don't age because we stop moving. We age faster because we stop resisting.

These are some really impressive moves. I see college kids who couldn’t do these half as well as her. Absolutely crushing it. It’s never too late!

Because... We exercise at home, a gym membership is not required for exercise...

So true! Everyone of all ages needs strength training!

They are tired, afraid of more pain and don't like being told what to do. I tried to get my mom to do basic strength training where she pushes herself to 90%, waits 1.5m between sets and she was having none of it because she doesn't want to exhaust herself or injure herself.

I go to the gym 6d/wk for heavy lifting and there are a good number of seniors also doing the same. Hope we are an encouragement to those who want to, but don't know how to start. Start small and increase weight and reps

Strength training is like the fountain of youth. Been doing it for a long time. I am about to turn 73 a carnivore and feel very youthful. Just bought a sissy squat machine for my birthday!

I see lots of old farts at my gym (I'm almost there too) but they are woefully misguide. They will not strain to pick up a heavier weight or increase their heartbeat. It's like they're going thru the motions. I'm sure most of them have been ill-advised by their MDs.

We do. They’re all on the treadmills and other cardio machines. That’s what their doctors told them to do.

Once in awhile I run into a video online making fun of someone old or out of shape in the gym and it makes me feel like that's not a place I want to go.

also, such a great business opportunity for some investors - would be a gym like this for Seniors only- it would be overrun with people...

Plenty of them where I go-a small fitness studio that caters to the 50+ crowd. And some of them are in remarkably good shape.

Most of my clients are 50+ and a few are 65+ so I think the question is why didn't we see more senior trainers in the gym (and online)?

I couldn’t even get my mom to do basic PT after she was diagnosed with essential tremor. She went once and said the therapist was bossy, demeaning and sarcastic 🤣

Because most have DDD/DJD which prevents them to work out like her. It is called aging and this person is an exception. Same reason that not many 1930 cars on the road. Of course you see an occasional one but....

The lack of seniors in strength training is due to limited awareness, accessibility, and motivation.

Many seniors feel like the "gym" is where narcissists go to look at themselves in the mirror. They're past that. They work out at home.

Most personal trainers don’t know how to modify workouts for people over 50. Many of us have joint pain due to arthritis.
