Defense and economic support for Ukraine were among the key topics of my meeting with Prime Minister of Finland Petteri Orpo. We discussed efforts toward a just and lasting peace, as well as measures needed to protect Ukraine. In particular, strengthening air defenses, supplying artillery systems and shells, and investing in our weapons production. We also spoke about the importance of involving as many countries and international organizations as possible in the Civil Protection Shelter Coalition and Finland's participation in Ukraine’s reconstruction. I am grateful to Finland for all its support of Ukraine and, in particular, for the 28th defense assistance package. 🇺🇦🇫🇮

During my visit to Finland, I discussed key issues of bilateral and multilateral cooperation with President Alexander Stubb Alexander Stubb. Naturally, our focus was on defense support and investment in our industry. Ukraine’s position remains unchanged: we are ready for mutually beneficial cooperation with all partners who truly help us. We also discussed security guarantees and Finland’s potential contribution, the future security architecture of Europe, our European and Euro-Atlantic integration. Today, our ministers are signing a document to launch the Civil Protection Shelter Coalition. As long as Putin continues attacking our infrastructure, we must do everything to protect our people, and we are grateful to Finland for this initiative. I also informed President Stubb on Russian disinformation regarding the situation on the Kursk front. There is no encirclement there – our troops are carrying out their missions as required for Ukraine. In Ukraine, we deeply value our relationship with Finland – a true partnership between nations and a friendship between people. Thank you for your hospitality, for this visit – together with the First Lady of Ukraine – for our joint efforts, and for your support of our country and our people. 🇺🇦🇫🇮

Today I spoke with the President of Finland, Stubb, and the Chancellor of Germany, Merz. Among other topics, we discussed the latest developments from Türkiye, cooperation with the United States, and Ukraine’s European future. I am grateful for their support. There was also a meeting in the “Ramstein” format. We are preparing decisions to support our joint defense production with partners. This is long-term security: our guarantees, European guarantees, guarantees for everyone that Russian aggression will not be able to expand and will not be rewarded. Russia must truly feel that war is worse than peace. That is exactly why sanctions are needed — especially against their oil trade. Sustained defense support for Ukraine is also essential, to protect our people and to defend our positions.

It is a robust document that demonstrates Finland's readiness to further support Ukraine in its fight against Russian aggression. Finland will provide long-term military and financial assistance, as well as step up political, financial, humanitarian and reform cooperation with Ukraine. It will help Ukraine rebuild the energy sector, assess environmental damage, strengthen border and critical infrastructure protection, and provide medical treatment for Ukrainian soldiers. I am grateful to Finland for supporting Ukraine and our people! Thank you for your help! 🇺🇦🇫🇮

Today, important negotiations took place in Washington. We discussed many issues with President Trump. It was a long and detailed conversation, including discussions about the situation on the battlefield and our steps to bring peace closer. There were also several meetings in a format with European leaders and the President of the United States. We discussed security guarantees. This is a key issue, a starting point towards ending the war. We appreciate the important signal from the United States regarding its readiness to support and be part of these guarantees. A lot of attention today was given to the return of our children, to the release of prisoners of war and civilians held by Russia. We agreed to work on this. The U.S. President also supported a meeting at the level of leaders. Such a meeting is necessary to resolve sensitive issues. I thank President Trump for the invitation and for today’s special format of our meeting. I also thank all the leaders who were with us today: Emmanuel Macron, Keir Starmer, Friedrich Merz, Giorgia Meloni, Alexander Stubb, Ursula von der Leyen, Mark Rutte. Today was an important step, a demonstration of genuine unity between Europe and the United States. The leaders personally came to support Ukraine and to discuss everything that will bring us closer to real peace, to a reliable security architecture that will protect Ukraine and all of Europe. We continue our work, coordinating our steps with all allies who strive to end this war with dignity. I thank everyone who is helping.

France stands with Ukraine, and we are grateful to the entire French nation and personally to President Emmanuel Macron for such strong support for our country and for France’s leadership in many initiatives and coalitions. During today’s meeting with President Macron, we aligned our positions ahead of tomorrow’s meeting of the Coalition of the Willing leaders and discussed preparatory work on security guarantees. I believe that our efforts will deliver strong security guarantees for Ukraine. We are all working on this together. We also discussed defense support for Ukraine – addressing current needs, strengthening sanctions against Russia, and the possibilities for using frozen Russian assets. Particular attention was paid to our path toward the European Union. We appreciate France’s support in this regard.

Today, I welcomed U.S. @SecDef Lloyd Austin in Kyiv. I thanked him for a new defense assistance package for Ukraine worth $400 million that includes ammunition, military equipment, and weaponry. During the meeting we discussed critical defense priorities, including Ukraine’s air defense capabilities, preparations for the winter period, and the expansion of long-range weapon use against Russian military targets. Additionally, we focused on efforts to increase the production of strike drones, cruise missiles, artillery shells, and air defense systems. Secretary Austin reaffirmed that the U.S. will continue its security support as part of the ongoing defense agreement between our countries. He also shared plans to convene a new Ramstein format meeting to coordinate further aid with international partners. I emphasized the importance of our recent negotiations with President Biden, during which we talked about our Victory Plan and continued efforts to strengthen Ukraine’s defense. We are grateful to President Biden, both parties in the U.S. Congress, and the American people for all their support since the beginning of Russia’s full-scale invasion. Together with all of our allies we work to secure victory and peace for Ukraine and all peace-loving nations.

I am grateful to Canada for its new package of sanctions against more than 160 entities linked to Russia’s shadow fleet. Today, during our meeting with Mark Carney, we discussed strengthening sanctions pressure on Russia. And it is important that such decisions are being made. We also discussed formats of defense cooperation, Canada’s participation in financing the production of Ukrainian drones under the Danish model, and cooperation in the energy sector. Importantly, Canada will continue to provide Ukraine with energy support and assistance in recovery. I thank Mark for his strong position during the G7–Ukraine meeting and for all the support for our people. We truly have strong allies and the Prime Minister’s significant personal engagement in supporting Ukraine. And this is highly valuable.

An important and substantive meeting with Bundeskanzler Friedrich Merz Friedrich Merz. I am grateful for supporting Ukraine and organizing today’s meetings – the online meeting of leaders and the meeting of the Coalition of the Willing. Thank you for showing genuine unity and leadership at this time. We discussed our recent contacts with partners and further engagement with allies, the increase in defense support, Germany’s participation in the new PURL initiative, the strengthening of Ukraine’s air defense with two additional Patriot systems and missiles for them, and reliable security guarantees. We share a common understanding – as long as Russia takes no steps toward peace, we must continue to exert pressure on it and strengthen support for Ukraine. This is very important. I sincerely value all of Germany’s assistance and our relations, which deliver real results for protecting lives. 🇺🇦🇩🇪

Together with President of Finland Alexander Stubb Alexander Stubb, we took part in a roundtable meeting on Ukrainian-Finnish cooperation in the defense industry. Today, we are taking another step toward deepening our cooperation by combining Ukraine’s combat experience with Finnish technologies. Our companies signed documents on the development and production of drones in Finland for the needs of Ukraine and Europe, expanding capabilities in the field of uncrewed naval systems, and establishing a company to manufacture UGVs. On these important dates – National Flag Day and the eve of Independence Day – we especially feel the value of true friendship. I thank the President, the government, Finnish businesses, and the entire people of Finland for standing with us since the first days of this war.

I met with the Advisors of the leaders of the United Kingdom, Germany, France, and Italy to thank them for their support of Ukraine and for their efforts on developing security guarantees. Not only does Russia show utter unwillingness to end the war, but it is also escalating to the point of real threats to Europe by launching drones over Poland. Therefore, it is crucial to finalize the development of security guarantees as soon as possible. We also discussed our country’s readiness to share experience and contribute to NATO’s collective defense. We propose working together to intercept all Russian targets. I thank the United Kingdom, Germany, France, and Italy for their assistance to our state and for their joint efforts to bring a just peace closer.

We signed a Drone Deal agreement with Denmark. This is already Ukraine’s ninth such agreement, and it is important that more and more partners are joining this format, which opens up greater opportunities for joint defense production, the exchange of expertise, and transparency in weapons exports. Together, we are building a new security architecture. I thank Denmark, and personally Mette, for this step toward strengthening our shared defense. It was with Denmark that we began joint production in Ukraine under the Danish model, and it is absolutely fair that Denmark will now have access to Ukrainian exports of weapons tested in war. Today, we also discussed with the Prime Minister Statsministeriet the strengthening of our air defense and work on European anti-ballistic defense. It is extremely important for us right now to receive Patriot missiles as quickly as possible and to jointly develop our own European capabilities to counter ballistic threats. I thank Denmark for its continued support for our people – for its defense and financial assistance, and for all its contributions to the PURL initiative.
