Rory McIlroy thinks Jon Rahm and Tyrrell Hatton should pay $6 million in DP World Tour fines to play in the next Ryder Cup. One of the biggest stories in golf right now is what will happen to Jon Rahm and Tyrrell Hatton’s DP World Tour fines and will they maintain Ryder Cup eligibility for Adare Manor in 2027. As it stands, both Jon and Tyrrell, among other LIV players, have appealed their fines putting them in “stay” with no current information on when their appeal will be heard. Speaking ahead of the Hero Dubai Desert Classic, Rory McIlroy thinks Jon and Tyrrell should just pay those fines and “prove” their commitment to the Ryder Cup: “Yeah, absolutely. Main thing is -- look, this is my opinion. We went really hard on the Americans about being paid to play the Ryder Cup, and we also said that we would pay to play in Ryder Cups. There's two guys that can prove it. Great. I think that's -- yeah.” This is a very interesting comment. What Rory McIlroy is suggesting here is that Jon Rahm and Tyrrell Hatton pay $6 million each out of their own pockets to play in the same type of events that Rory gets enormous appearance fees for “supporting”. It’s also worth noting that Rory also plays the majority of his golf on a competitor to the DP World Tour and he doesn’t get fined for doing so. What do you think about this? So, we simplified his take away with the help of an alignment stick as feedback How you start the swing will influence the rest: Josh would whip it inside and then up high making it very difficult to pivot the body well and deliver the club from a good place. We got Josh to stop at waist height as a check point and then feel a good pivot to the top where his arms were a little flatter. Hard to believe, but 20 years ago tonight we helped Xbox launch the Xbox 360 live on G4 — broadcasting from the Mojave Desert at the massive Zero Hour event. I still remember interviewing Peter Moore that night as Xbox put on an absolutely wild show. They were hungry — determined to make a statement by launching the 360 a full year before Sony’s PS3. And they went all-in with a spectacle few had ever seen for a console launch. Back then, most TV networks didn’t think gamers would tune in to watch a system debut the way sports fans watch a big game. But you proved them wrong. The audience showed up in force, and the G4 team pulled off a full day of live programming that helped mark a turning point in how we cover this industry. Pretty incredible to look back two decades later at how far the industry — and the community — have come.

At the start of this year, Phil Mickelson had a crushing ball speed of 165mph. Within 2 months he upped that to high 170’s and topping over 180. That’s an incredible jump for a man in his 50’s! He puts it down to training with speed sticks and explains how he has to change his release the faster he gets. “What I do notice is as I speed the swing up, I have to change the release point of my golf swing. I use length to create the leverage that I want, so it takes a lot of pressure off. But, as I do that, I have to change where the release is. But if I speed up, when I get down to the ball the face will be open. So I have to feel like I’m releasing the club a little bit earlier.” Lefty is a master at going deep in explaining the technicals of the golf swing. Flushing It Golf spoke with executives at LIV Golf Andalucia about their plans, and they are committed to utilising The International Series on the Asian Tour to help elevate national opens across the globe as LIV Golf 2.0 develops. In fact, several senior players even mentioned, unprompted, the importance of building it within the potential 2027 schedule. However, members on the Asian Tour admit although they are very happy with the success of the partnership so far, there were concerns when the LIV Golf backed purse increase of the Kolon Korean Open was pulled at the last minute, and they want options left open amid the uncertainty. Flushing It Golf reached out to the Asian Tour and they offered this official comment: “LIV Golf have been a terrific partner for the Asian Tour over the past five years – facilitating the creation of The International Series, which has been hugely successful. These premium events have added a new dimension to our tour, boasting world-class fields competing for elevated prizemoney at outstanding venues. In particular, the initiative has afforded us the opportunity to travel to exciting new markets in Africa, the Middle East and Europe. We look forward to seeing the remainder of The International Series events played out on the Asian Tour this season. “Our senior leadership are in constant dialogue with stakeholders and partners on how best to move forward and build on the successes over the past five years. The Asian Tour offers that, but LIV Golf are not the only tour interested in strengthening links with the region. In fact, Flushing It Golf understands the PGA Tour attempted to form a much closer relationship with the Asian Tour several years ago, with an offer made to create a formal partnership, but that was rejected by the board. A few years later, the Asian Tour then partnered with LIV Golf in a deal worth $300 million. It’s entirely possible though that the PGA Tour, along with the DP World Tour, will sense weakness and now look to make another approach to grow their global pathway system. This leaves the Asian Tour in a position where they have multiple options available. No matter what happens to their partnership with LIV Golf, the Asian Tour will be just fine. In 2022, Justin Rose had the opportunity to join LIV Golf, which he declined. Since then, he’s won 3 times on the PGA Tour, won a home and away Ryder Cup, finished runner up in The Open and the Masters, and risen to 5th in the world. He spoke about whether he feels his decision was validated with his wire to wire, record setting victory at the Farmers Insurance Open: “Yeah, I feel like, yeah, my career goals have always only been attainable by staying on the European Tour and the PGA TOUR because access to them is not, you know, not possible the other way. “But obviously I want to play in amongst the best players in the world. That obviously for me is kind of what keeps me motivated, what keeps me hungry, what keeps me pushing. “So yeah, it would have been easy to potentially do other things, but none of that excited me I don't think really. And none of it gave me access to what I wanted to achieve. “So I kind of always felt like my childhood self wouldn't feel very good about making that decision and kind of giving up on those dreams. “I feel like, yeah, I've been close. I would say, you know, sniffing and knocking on the door of a couple majors since those decisions were made and those moments. “Yeah, it did validate the decision. Yeah, the way things are in the world of golf right now, yeah, I feel like it's good to see people wanting to kind of play where it motivates them to be their best.” He also spoke about the goals he has left to achieve in his career: “Yeah, majors is where I have my attention, for sure. This is the man who helped subdue the passenger who was trying to open the emergency exit door on Frontier Airlines flight 3345. His name is Josh Longood, an Ohio native, a true hero who saved the day and helped take control of the situation. Josh was on a flight home to Chicago from his brother's bachelor's party in Puerto Rico when another passenger allegedly assaulted a flight attendant who attempted to pick up his bag and then attempted to open an emergency exit door on the Frontier flight. Longood was in the right place at the right time. He's a former professional MMA fighter and a current competitive BJJ black belt. He said he is lucky he is a light sleeper and was only a row of seats away when everything went down. Longwood said he restrained the man once for about 10 minutes and then a second time when the man slipped his restraints. He controlled him for another 20-30 minutes until the airplane made an emergency landing in Miami. You can see the authorities waiting for the plane to arrive and escorting the man off the plane. Apparently he was drunk. Thankful for people like Josh. We need more in this world like him. I don't like what they're doing currently with the contract they're having us sign. I don't like the conditions. They're asking me to play a minimum of six events, and they dictate where two of those have to be, amongst other things that I don't agree with. “If we just go based on that -- I've been a dual member my whole career, PGA TOUR and DP World Tour. Now with LIV Golf being accepted in the world rankings as part of the ecosystem, you could almost say a three-tour member, even though I'm suspended from the PGA TOUR. “But I've always been a dual member. Never once have I been asked for a release to play either one of those tours. We've never submitted a release. So why is it now that we need to be offering this and there's all these penalties? I understand why they're doing it. What's the problem? “Given also the fact that two years ago I was asked to appeal the fines so they could figure this out and sort it out and I did and we're running into more problems right now. “I just don't like the situation. I think we should be able to freely play where we want and have the choice to play where we want and not be dictated what we do. Especially myself. I can't speak for others; only myself. “I've always committed to play the minimum requirement, and I think I've played four events, including the Spanish Open, every year except one as a pro, and I commit to do that. That's not going to change. I still fully intend to do that. “Now, with the LIV and the major schedule I don't think I'm going to be able to do so until our playoffs or our last events are done.
