Mumbai Moves Forward! The final link of the Santacruz–Chembur Link Road is now open, completing the integrated 10.30-km SCLR network between the Eastern Express Highway and the Western Express Highway. The 1.40-km Bharat Nagar Road (University Area)–Vakola Junction Elevated Corridor, built under SCLR Extension Phase II, marks the final and critical link in a network developed progressively since the original SCLR opened. With the Phase I extensions and the completion of Phase II, the SCLR network now provides end-to-end signal-free east–west connectivity across: EEH → Chembur → Tilak Nagar → Kapadia Nagar → Kurla → Kalina → BKC → Mumbai University → Vakola → WEH The newly opened elevated corridor establishes seamless two-way connectivity between BKC and the WEH. Traffic from BKC will merge directly with the SCLR cable-stayed bridge, while traffic from the WEH will move from the existing Vakola Flyover onto the new elevated corridor. The completed network will help motorists bypass Kalina, Vakola and Kalanagar, with travel time expected to reduce by approximately 35 minutes on key journeys. It will also strengthen access to BKC, Mumbai University, Mumbai International Airport, major commercial hubs and surrounding residential areas, while improving commuter convenience, road safety and overall travel efficiency, and helping reduce congestion, fuel consumption, operating costs and vehicular emissions. One network. One seamless corridor. A faster Mumbai. #MumbaiInMinutes #MumbaiMovesForward #MMRDA #ReimaginingMMR #SCLR #InfrastructureIndia Devendra Fadnavis Eknath Shinde - एकनाथ शिंदे Sunetra Ajit Pawar Dr. Sanjay Mukherjee

MMRDA’s vision of transforming Thane into a major mobility-led economic hub has crossed another crucial milestone, with pile foundation and pier construction work for the creek portion of the Gaimukh–Payegaon Bridge nearing completion. As per the latest update, piling work along the Thane Creek portion is now over 95% complete. Pier erection and pier-cap construction are also progressing rapidly, while work has advanced at both the Gaimukh and Paye–Payegaon ends of the project Overall, around 25% of the project has now been completed. The 6.5-km creek bridge is a key link in the multimodal mobility network being developed by MMRDA to transform connectivity across Thane and the wider region. The network brings together multiple road, metro rail and tunnel projects, planned as part of an integrated approach to regional mobility. The bridge will connect Gaimukh on Ghodbunder Road with Chinchoti and Payegaon, creating a more direct connection to Bhiwandi, Vasai and the northern parts of the MMR. Ghodbunder Road is already one of Thane’s busiest transport corridors, carrying traffic between the city, Mumbai’s western suburbs, Mira-Bhayandar and the Mumbai–Ahmedabad Highway. At present, commuters travelling from Thane towards Chinchoti, Payegaon or Vasai have to cross the ghat section at Ghodbunder, where traffic is further affected by the movement of heavy vehicles. The creek bridge will allow this ghat section to be bypassed completely, creating a faster and more direct route for commuters and freight movement. The bridge will also strengthen connectivity with several major transportation projects, including the Mumbai–Ahmedabad High Speed Rail, Thane Coastal Road, Virar–Alibaug Multimodal Corridor, Diva–Vasai railway line, National Highway 48 and the Anjur–Chinchoti Road, among others. More than a bridge, the Gaimukh–Payegaon Creek Bridge is a critical link in building a connected mobility ecosystem for Thane, strengthening its position as a major mobility and economic hub. #MMRDA #Thane #GaimukhPayegaonBridge #InfrastructureDevelopment #ReimaginingMMR #MumbaiInMinutes #IntegratedMobility #ViksitMaharashtra CMO Maharashtra Devendra Fadnavis Eknath Shinde - एकनाथ शिंदे Dr. Sanjay Mukherjee MAHARASHTRA DGIPR PIB India

Bengaluru’s Deadly Wires war zone Negligence That Could Kill You Anytime The horrifying incident yesterday on the Inner Ring Road (IRR), where a scooter rider got entangled in a hanging cable, is a serious reminder of the dangers lurking on our streets. Sadly, this is not an isolated case such incidents are becoming increasingly common across Bengaluru. A tangled web of loose, abandoned, and unidentified wires hangs dangerously over roads and footpaths, posing constant risks of accidents and even electrocution. Every day, commuters are forced to navigate these hazards, putting their lives at risk due to sheer negligence. The lack of accountability from authorities is deeply concerning. Despite repeated incidents, there has been no serious effort to fix the problem. Poor coordination between civic bodies and service providers has turned public infrastructure into a threat rather than a support system. It is unacceptable that a global city like Bengaluru, known for innovation and progress, continues to struggle with such basic safety issues. Along with illegal flex boards and poorly managed utilities, these hanging cables are making roads more dangerous day by day. Many accidents have already occurred due to this issue, and unless immediate action is taken, more lives will be at risk. Authorities must act now identify and remove unused cables, enforce strict regulations, and ensure proper maintenance. Bengaluru deserves safer roads. Negligence cannot continue at the cost of human lives. #bangalore #bengaluru #accident #irr Maheshwar Rao.M, IAS Greater Bengaluru Authority INTEGRATED COMMAND AND CONTROL CENTRE Karnataka State Police S. UPDATE: RABAH ROAD TO RIGASA TRAIN STATION: My second visit to the Rabah Road–Rigasa Train Station corridor via the Nnamdi Azikiwe Western Bypass. 2: The objective was to open up new corridors, connect communities and improve movement between the eastern and western parts of Kaduna metropolis. 3: The planned corridor was about 9.65 km, linking Rabah Road around Arewa House to Nnamdi Azikiwe Road (Western Bypass), and onward to the Rigasa Train Station. 4: It included major structures such as an overhead bridge and an underpass. 5: The road was strategically important because it connected the eastern part of Kaduna to the western sector and the Kaduna–Abuja railway station at Rigasa, providing an alternative route for commuters and reducing pressure on existing roads. 6: Governor Senator Uba Sani inherited the project in 2023. 7: The project is progressing, and I’m back on site to assess the level of work, identify areas requiring attention, and ensure the road delivers the intended benefits to commuters and residents. Major Project Update: Thane Coastal Road-1 crosses 40% completion milestone in 14 months Thane Coastal Road-1 is advancing at a strong pace, with foundation work, pier-cap casting and I-girder erection progressing rapidly across the corridor. As of September 2, 40 per cent of the project's work has been completed, with 77% (332 of 426) working piles completed and 65% of piers (277/426) and 460 pier caps cast already. The I-girder erection has also progressing rapidly with 501 out of 1,632 (approx 30%) girders already erected. Also, 13 deck-slab spans have been completed. 👉 The 13.45 km, six-lane, access-controlled greenfield corridor, coming up between Kharegaon Toll Naka and Gaimukh, is being built using cutting-edge engineering. For the first time in India, a greenfield road project is using a single-pile, single-pier system with monopile foundations on land. 👉 Designed as a strategic freight corridor, the project will decongest Ghodbunder Road and improve connectivity between NH-160 (Mumbai–Nashik Highway) and Gaimukh along the Thane Creek coastline, with major stretches on viaducts and bridges to safeguard the sensitive mangrove ecosystem. It will provide faster, safer and more convenient connectivity for traffic travelling towards Thane, Nashik, Bhiwandi, Gujarat, and North India. The project comprises a 240 m long creek bridge and an 8.11 km long elevated road passing through mangrove areas. A 40 to 45 m wide Development Plan (DP) road has been reserved for the project, which will facilitate segregation of local and inter-city traffic on Ghodbunder Road. 👉 Further at Gaimukh, the road will directly connect with the upcoming Gaimukh–Fountain Hotel Tunnel, enabling seamless Thane–Bhayander connectivity. Together, these projects will significantly decongest Ghodbunder Road, transform urban mobility in Thane, and strengthen freight movement towards Wadhawan Port, JNPT, South Maharashtra, and Karnataka. 👉 The corridor will also integrate with key future infrastructure projects including the Thane Ring Metro, Thane Coastal Road-2, the Saket–Amane Elevated Corridor, and the Kasarvadavali–Kharbhav Road, cementing its role as a critical backbone of the region’s next-generation transport network. #ThaneCoastalRoad #MMRDA #InfrastructureIndia #MumbaiInMinutes #ReimaginingMMR #TransformingMMR #UrbanMobility #BuildingTheFuture #MumbaiMetropolitanRegion #TransportInfrastructure #FastForward CMO Maharashtra Devendra Fadnavis Eknath Shinde - एकनाथ शिंदे Dr. Sanjay Mukherjee MAHARASHTRA DGIPR PIB India Press Trust of India

Pune’s Viman Nagar is witnessing mounting traffic disorder following the opening of Bengaluru’s popular Rameshwaram Café, with food enthusiasm spilling over into public inconvenience and safety risks. Since its launch, the café has attracted massive crowds from across the city. However, the heavy footfall has resulted in severe traffic congestion on the already busy stretch near Phoenix Marketcity. Cars, two-wheelers and auto-rickshaws are being parked indiscriminately—often double-parked—while vehicles halt mid-road to drop passengers, creating frequent bottlenecks. A Pune Times Mirror spot check revealed startling scenes, including a car parked directly opposite the café for over 45 minutes, with occupants eating inside the vehicle. Despite the availability of valet parking, many visitors continue to ignore it, worsening the situation. The chaos is further aggravated by the one-way traffic rule introduced in Viman Nagar over a month ago, which residents say has caused confusion and longer detours. With the café crowd added to the mix, pedestrians—families with children included—are seen crossing the road at unsafe points. Diners are also cutting across carriageways through gaps in dividers, while speeding vehicles swerve to bypass illegally parked cars, creating a dangerous environment. Residents note a stark contrast with earlier conditions, when traffic police maintained order through regular patrols, wheel clamping, and towing of illegally parked vehicles. Now, the absence of visible traffic enforcement has allowed the disorder to spiral. What should have been a welcome culinary addition has instead turned into a daily ordeal for commuters and locals alike. Citizens are urging the traffic police to intervene immediately with strict enforcement and crowd management, warning that without swift action, the area risks becoming a permanent traffic and safety black spot.

Bengaluru is being strangled by a corrupt government that refuses to govern. The traffic crisis is worsening by the day, and the core reason is staring us in the face: the explosion of private vehicles. But instead of addressing this, the state government is fuelling it. Instead of building mass public transport, it has launched a war against it. At a time when every rupee of public money should be invested in making public transport more available, more affordable and more reliable, this government has done the opposite. It is punishing those who rely on public transport and actively incentivising more car and two-wheeler ownership. The state wants to spend ₹1 lakh crore to build 100 kilometres of new flyovers and 18 kilometres of tunnel roads - a gift wrapped package for the politician-contractor lobby. But here’s the punchline: more than 20 flyovers have been pending for close to eight years, lying incomplete across the city. Before even completing what it has already failed, the government wants to throw billions more at the same failure. This isn’t infrastructure building. This is an addiction to kickback-paying contracts. The ₹18,000 crore tunnel road is the peak of this madness — a vanity project that benefits only private cars while being a death sentence for the city’s public transport system. It will not serve the pedestrian, the cyclist, the commuter - it will serve only the cars, the SUVs. It won’t serve the common guy who uses the BMTC or the metro. While the government wants to build more roads, it is killing last mile connectivity. Carpooling, bike-sharing, and auto-sharing remain unsupported. It refuses to allow private players to run buses alongside BMTC, despite the overwhelming demand. Metro fares are being hiked unscientifically, pushing people away from mass transit instead of into it. Meanwhile, ridership in Metro is weakening. And the result? The roads are flooded with cars. A recent study by Bengaluru Traffic Police on Outer Ring Road found a 20% increase in vehicle numbers in just one year, resulting in a 125% increase in congestion. This is not sustainable. This will lead to a total collapse of the city. Every delay in Metro completion brings more cars onto the streets. Every step taken to weaken the bus system brings more two-wheelers into the chaos. Bengaluru already has more private vehicles than people. No other global city in our population bracket has done this because no other city has such a suicidal mobility policy. Let’s be clear: this government’s mobility policy is not citizen-centric. It is contractor-centric. It is not about moving people - it is about moving cars. This is a government in the grip of a politician-bureaucrat-contractor nexus, that would rather pour concrete than build a city that works. And who is paying the price? The nurse who takes the bus. The student who walks to the Metro. The delivery rider stuck in traffic. The poor and middle class of Bengaluru, who don’t own cars, but are cross-subsidising roads that are built exclusively for car owners. This is not just poor governance. It is structural injustice. This assault on Bengaluru must stop. Every rupee of public money must be redirected to public transport. That is the only globally proven solution to decongestion and cities with denser populations than ours have done it. What’s missing here is not technology or funds. What’s missing is political will. And that will won’t come from those in power. It must come from the people of Bengaluru. From those who are stuck in traffic and fed up of being lied to. From those who are tired of vanity projects and demand real mobility solutions. From a new generation of leadership that fights for commuters, not contractors. Bengaluru is choking. We can either demand change - or let this city be buried under its own traffic. Let’s tell loud and clear - Public Transport is our Fundamental Right. We need our government to provide it. My remarks at the World Symposium on Sustainability & Livability hosted by IISc Bangalore.

Redefining Connectivity: Mumbai’s Journey Towards Integrated Mobility Delighted to inaugurate, flag off, and unveil the stone plaque of 'Metro Line 9: Dahisar (East) to Kashigaon (Phase-1)', ‘Metro Line 2(B) Deshbhakt N. G. Acharya Udyan - Diamond Garden to Maharashtra Nagar, Mandale (Phase-1), and e-Bhoomipujan of the Automated Rapid Transit System (Pod Taxi) Project for Bandra-Kurla Complex, and the launch of 'Tunnel Boring Machine - Nayak' for the 'Thane-Borivali Underground Tunnel Project' in Mumbai, marking a significant step towards seamless connectivity and transformative urban mobility. Metro services have commenced today on the 4.7 km corridor from Dahisar East to Kashigaon, with four stations along the route, enhancing connectivity and making travel between Mumbai and Mira-Bhayandar faster and more convenient. This project, with an investment of approximately ₹6607 crore, will reduce the current travel time from 1-2 hours to nearly 30 minutes. In the upcoming phases, this corridor will be integrated with Metro Line 3, enabling seamless travel from Mira-Bhayandar to Colaba. With over 100 kilometres of metro lines now operational, Mumbai has emerged as the second-largest metro network in the country after Delhi. In the coming years, the network will expand further with the completion of several ongoing projects, strengthening connectivity across the city. The first phase of Metro Line 2B, spanning 5.6 km with five stations, is now operational from today. Once the rest of the phases are fully completed, this transformative project will seamlessly connect the East-West and North-South corridors, enabling smoother and more efficient travel across the city. Notably, this will be the first metro line to connect with the Harbour Line, marking the beginning of a new chapter in Mumbai’s integrated urban transport network. The e-Bhoomipujan of the innovative ‘Pod Taxi’ project was undertaken in the BKC area, marking a significant step towards strengthening last-mile connectivity. This automated system will enable commuters to reach within 100–150 metres of their destinations, enhancing convenience and efficiency. The Thane-Borivali Twin Tunnel Project is a landmark initiative that will significantly decongest Mumbai and Thane cities. Spanning 11.84 km, including a 10.25 km twin tunnel stretch, this transformative corridor is designed for efficiency and safety, featuring two traffic lanes and one emergency lane in each tunnel. The tunnels are being constructed in a safe, efficient, and eco-friendly manner, keeping in mind the ecological sensitivity of the Sanjay Gandhi National Park. While Rahul Gandhi makes an emotional appeal to the central government asking them to stop the destruction of environment in Andaman & Nicobar, the Congress government in Telangana is doing just the same! Kasu Brahmananda Reddy park / KBR park is an urban forest spread across 390 kilometres in the heart of the city. KBR has been home for over 600 species of plant life, 140 species of birds and 30 different varieties of butterflies and reptiles. You see peacocks all over the park, many snakes too are spotted regularly. Animals like pangolin, small Indian civet, peacock, jungle cat and porcupines live there. People are allowed only for limited hours in the morning and in the evening & that too only in a small section of the park to protect the environment. At any point of time, when you pass by KBR, you can clearly feel 2-5 degrees temperature drop. In the heart of the city’s Jubilee Hills, it is a beautiful green lung space. KBR Park was declared an Eco sensitive zone on 27 October 2020. Traffic around KBR has been an issue. There was a proposal to build flyovers at KBR to ease the traffic by the urban planning authorities. People protested and the then CM KCR instructed everyone to stand down on the project since it destroys an ecosystem. Today! Revanth Reddy as part of the Strategic Road Development Programme and H-CITI plan is going ahead and constructing 6 flyovers and 6 underpasses. All because he wants to make area around KBR park - “signal free”! Budget is Rs 1,090 crores. No of trees that will be destroyed? 1942 mature trees will be uprooted!!! There is no environmental clearance to the project. Congress Government came up with an intelligent way to bypass this. They split the project into 6 separate projects and now they don’t need any clearances. What’s worse- the Telangana High Court had given a stay order & to bypass that, the shameless government is carrying out demolitions in the dead of the night. They want to finish the destruction before the courts open again! Bulldozers come in the night and work nonstop to create a chance to fatten the purses of contractors. These flyovers and underpasses will destroy the ecosystem completely. But yeah, who cares? Since it is Congress that is destroying the lung space and since it is not Andaman & Nicobar island, since it is Telangana and most importantly people in Hyderabad don’t need OXYGEN, this destruction is absolutely 💯 percent okay 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 Video from last night

🚧 The NJ 295/42 Direct Connection Project: A Modern-Day "Big Dig" Nightmare? Why Is This Highway Interchange Taking FOREVER? 😤🗞️ If you're a South Jersey commuter stuck in the eternal traffic jam at the I-295/I-76/Route 42 interchange in Bellmawr, you know the pain. This "Direct Connection" project meant to fix one of NJ's most congested and crash-prone spots by building elevated bridges and direct ramps started construction in March 2013 That's 12+ years in (as of September 2025), with full completion now delayed to 2032. We're talking 19 years total for what should be a straightforward highway upgrade! Original plan? Done by 2021 But nope—utility issues, right-of-way fights, and a massive retaining wall collapse in 2021 (costing $90M+ to fix) have turned it into a black hole of bureaucracy and delays. At a cool $900 million (and climbing), it's already rivaling Boston's infamous Big Dig in absurdity But here's the kicker: Compare this to ACTUAL modern marvels built in under 15 years. These beasts involved insane engineering, harsh conditions, and billions in costs—yet they got done FASTER than our little NJ interchange! Check this out: - Channel Tunnel (Chunnel): 6 years (1988–1994), $21B. Digging a 31-mile undersea link between UK and France? Met in the middle despite floods and fires - Hoover Dam: 5 years (1931–1936), $1B (adjusted). Taming the Colorado River with millions of cubic yards of concrete in 120°F heat! During the Depression! - Millau Viaduct (tallest bridge on Earth): 3 years (2001–2004), $400M. "Rolling" a massive cable-stayed span over a windy French gorge - Mini Sky City(57-story prefab skyscraper): Just 19 days assembly (2015), $160M! Even ancient wonders like the Great Pyramid of Giza took only 10–14 years (~2580 BCE) with 20,000 workers and copper tools hauling 2.3 million stone blocks. No cranes, no computer, just ramps and grit. And the Colossus of Rhodes? 12 years for a 108-ft bronze statue on a tiny island The 295/42 project? It's "only" reconfiguring ramps and bridges for 150,000 daily drivers, improving safety (crunches are 7x the state average), and adding noise walls/utilities. Sure, it's in a tight urban spot near homes and a cemetery, but with modern tech, lasers, and endless funding—why 19 years? Delays from compressible soils, groundwater "boat sections," and that Wall 22 fiasco (slid due to sandy foundations) are legit, but come on, NJDOT— we've got robots building space stations faster! South Jersey deserves better. This endless construction is shaking foundations, clogging locals, and burning cash while traffic weaves at 35 mph. When it's done (if ever), it'll be great—direct 60 mph flow to Philly, Shore, and Delaware. But at this rate, my grandkids might be driving it
